And the denial within society isn’t helpful

OP posts:

Oh no - it’s op again

Aren't you the person who described your 23 year old daughter's 29 year old boyfriend as 'middle aged'?

Yes. She's done more than one thread on this supposed age gap relationship.

Myotherusernamesafunnyone · 14/07/2026 16:55

These threads have to stop!!! YABVVVVVU as you have been told by 100s of other posters on aaaaaalllllll your other threads about this.
Your 23 year old daughter dating a (just) 30 year old man is perfectly normal. GET OVER IT.
He is not middle aged at 30 (and even if he was so what!) I can’t fathom what you are hoping to achieve by posting the same thing over and over but again, a 7 year gap between two adults is absolutely ok. You really need to move on.

So assuming age I think you are a child for the first 20 years of your life, then a young adult for your 20s and 30s, middle aged in your 40s and 50s, old in your 60s and 70s and elderly once 80+. Although I know people in their 60s who still think they are middle aged. Life expectancy in this country is 82.2 years, slightly lower for men and slightly higher for women.

If you are talking about the age to have children then yes, 30 is about average in this country for a first pregnancy. It has gone up since the 70s but that's because in the 70s people had children very young, whereas 100 years ago the pattern was more similar to now.

If you are talking about salary the median salary (including PT workers) is £32,890. For FT workers it's £39,039.

Edited

Yup. People like me. Until I look in a mirror!

ChocolateSqueezyyogurts · 14/07/2026 16:59

Middle age is about 50-55 its half way through your adult life, not whole life

BettyJoanPerske · 14/07/2026 16:59

I presume you mean middle aged? No, 30 isn't. I don't think anything below about 45 is these days. I am 43 and I think of myself as young, not as middle aged (although to be fair I look a lot younger than most 43 year olds)

Exactly. To put it in terms of celebrities, think of the actresses Lily James and Keira Knightley. Do you really think they are 'middle aged'?

To think 30 is middle
ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 14/07/2026 17:04

My DD once told my DH years ago that he'd be dead soon, after he'd just turned 45. 😳😂

So, I reckon he must be positively mummified now, aged 56. I'm definitely about to go then too, while his grandparents must be fossilised aged early 80s.

Yep. 30 is the new 75. Enjoy your youth while you can.🤣👀

YellowLollipop · 14/07/2026 17:06

Middle what? The Middle East? The Middle Ages? Middle of the road?

Coralsunset · 14/07/2026 17:07

Another ridiculous thread from this poster….

Cantthinkofanewusernameffs · 14/07/2026 17:07

According to Google, middle aged is 40 - 64 years.

So come back in 10 years time and moan about your 33 year old daughter dating a Middle aged man.

MirrorMirror1247 · 14/07/2026 17:08

I'm 6 months away from 40 and don't consider myself anywhere near middle aged!

Jk987 · 14/07/2026 17:08

There was another stupid thread about 30 being middle aged the other day 🙄

Wishimaywishimight · 14/07/2026 17:09

Nonsense.

Yeah it was the same OP. Clearly a bit of weird obsession- best not to fuel it. Let her think 30 is practically an OAP if she wants to

ExplodingSmittens · 14/07/2026 17:11

Is the OP referring to their IQ?

Nursemumma92 · 14/07/2026 17:11

No of course it isn't.

I met my husband at 18 and he was 25. We met at work in a bar and are still together 15 years later, married for 10 with 2 children.

You need to unclench, your daughter is an adult and he is not middle aged.

beencaughttrollin · 14/07/2026 17:12

If your daughter's 22 she's already way past it in TikTok years. The real taste arbiters are age 7-12. Might as well date the middle aged bloke, even if he's only 30.

Uricon2 · 14/07/2026 17:13

Not more of this ridiculous nonsense @Middleaged77

AnonyMumAuDHD · 14/07/2026 17:13

So, no. Based on an average life span of 0-80, middle age is generally deemed to be 45-65. Ie approximately the middle 1/3 of our adult lifespan. (Childhood 0-18/21, Adulthood 21-45 Middle Age 45-65, Old age 65+). Obviously as laws change and life expectancy changes, perspectives about when the three stages of adulthood begin and end change and these rough ages expand. Personally, I plan to skip middle age entirely and just remain an ‘adult’ until a medical professional tells me that perhaps I am now old. Hopefully in my late 70s.

You are confusing ‘middle’ with ‘midpoint’ - the latter being unknown and undefinable until we die.

But I suspect you know this.

Lou7171 · 14/07/2026 17:14

Why do you keep posting such weird shit😂

peaceatnight · 14/07/2026 17:14

Failing to articulate your point isn't helpful....

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/07/2026 17:14

Has the OP actually left school yet, I wonder?

How many people do you know who live to 110!?!

Average life span for women is 81, I think, slightly lower for men. So 40 is middle aged.
