We aren't in a hosepipe ban in our area yet but did have one for most of last year. I did stick to it but thought it was madness that I couldn't quickly hose the suds off my car at home but could still use the jet wash at the petrol station which fired out about 50x more water. It was even more mental because my friend 10 mins aways water came from a different reservoir so wasn't in a ban.

We are all cold hosing our horses at the yard because its so hot and they are visibly sweating in their stables during the day. But I think horses and livestock are excluded from a hosepipe ban anyway due to animal welfare. We've stopped using the sprinkler in the garden but we are not in a banned area.

I’m sticking to the rules of the hose pipe ban despite it being hard work and time consuming to water all our plants by watering can. We wouldn’t compromise the health of our animals

Your thread has managed to convince me of the opposite of what you wanted. You use extra water for animals, others care for plants.

We have water butts, although run about dry, and we've been using bath water on the non food plants for the last couple of weeks. We try to be water aware all year, regardless of hosepipe bans.
