I'm half Scottish (dad) so always support both. In the past I'd probably want Scotland to win if it was them against England to be honest. Although now because of the Argentina support I'm going off supporting Scotland.

I desperately want England to win this one more than against any other team.

The Tartan Army aren’t just “football fans” though. They know they have a reputation to uphold and most are just there to support their country. Also, those who are known to be trouble are banned from travelling. They also raised $10k for a children’s hospital in Boston. They donate in every country they go to, and to date their donations total nearly £1m. It is rare there is any issue with Scotland’s fans.

In the last 5 years, 24 Scotland fans have been arrested. Half of those were after matches against England, and the vast majority were for drunkenness rather than violence. 632 England fans have been arrested in the same period.

And those comments are exactly why Scotland will support Argentina. Scotland pays in more to the UK than it gets back.

We owe them - the billions of pounds worth of Scottish North Sea oil and gas that the UK has benefitted from completely dwarfs any financial benefit they get now. If they hadn’t been part of the UK Scotland would be a very rich country akin to Norway.

What's the point of comparing numbers as you've done and ignoring that England's population is nearly 60 million and Scotland's population is 5.5 million. Hardly a fair comparison!

I am also half Scottish and can say quite happily who gives a shiny shit what the Scots think? About anything. They’re a pointless and expensive hanger on of the UK and I wish the English had been given a referendum on getting rid of them.

Everyone was pushing and shoving. It’s part of the game. This one fell foul of a new rule, but don’t pretend it didn’t happen elsewhere. Bellingham spent more time rolling on the pitch like a tantrumming toddler than playing the game. The main reason they won was Jordan Pickford. Norway had more on target shot at goal than England did. Lesser goalies wouldn’t have stopped as many.

But really, you’re just making the case for why so few people outside of England want to support England.

Let people support who they want. I must admit I never cheer Scotland on, whoever they’re up against, so I can hardly complain that they don’t support England. We have enough support. Apparently the Americans and Canadians are behind us, so my relative who lives in the US tells me. We’ll be fine….
