When I was younger my nana and mum often thought an older man would suit me better. I ignored them of course.

It could be argued it’s 45-65. I’m pretty sure that’s what I was taught (medical) many decades ago. Since then, people have stretched out, life expectancy wise, so 45yo would definitely make more sense than 40yo.

Irrespective, the OP is talking about someone 29/30yo, which is only a 6 year difference from her daughter, and nowhere near middle aged - most people have not even started children at this age nowadays! Simply put OP is hysterically batshit.

Calling it middle aged to make it sound worse is just daft when the man is only 30 OP. She is an adult on the run to her mid twenties, the gap isn't exactly anything to write home about and fortunately we are all free to choose our own partners.

I'd be more interested in whether she was happy and whether or not his treatment of her offered her what she needed and wanted from a partner.

That's the ages my parents were when they met and got married! My mum was 23 and my dad was 30. They were married for nearly 36 years until my dad passed away 11 years ago (would've been married 47 years this year).

Unless there's something you're not telling us (i.e. she's younger/innocent for her age or he's not treating her well/has a history of abuse), yes, you are being unreasonable.

Middle age has to start at some point and seven years is a big gap depending on where it is. If it was say a 30 year old and 37 year old there would be no worry

This is a non-issue. Seven year gap between my DH and I. We met when I was in my 20s and him 30s. Couldn't imagine a better pairing. We're on the same page and have a great family life.
