Clearly this is a wind up 🙄

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/07/2026 18:27

You’re being utterly ridiculous. Middle aged my arse. Leave her alone. You’re really weird.

OddBalling · 14/07/2026 18:32

I have bigger age gaps with my underwear tbh.

Both threads need reporting, really. Someone else has already reported the other, pretty much duplicate thread. Really silly stuff this.

PoisedUmberCrab · 14/07/2026 18:45

This is absolutely fine!! If it helps, I was 22 when I started dating my husband who was 29. We have been together for 10 years and have 2 kids. I feel like the maturity balances out with this kind of gap.

vodkaredbullgirl · 14/07/2026 19:06

Middleaged77 · 14/07/2026 18:18

She’s not 30

But according to you 29/30 was middle aged.

mrsmcallister · 14/07/2026 19:07

Assuming OP is middleaged77 because they were born in 1977? That is middle aged! Apparently middle age in a big survey was perceived at 46 years old

I've just told my dad, who is 29 tomorrow that she is middle aged. Her answer was WTF, are you mad.

Wtf did I get dad from, meant DD.

Twinmum0822 · 14/07/2026 19:15

I was 30 and my partner was 22 when we got together. I even had 2 kids (cue gasp)! We are still together 10 years later. Stop being weird.

Is the 30 the new 40?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 14/07/2026 19:49

from a work perspective they could easily be at a similar grade in a grad traineeship. Its really not that significant a gap.

Fleurdalys · 14/07/2026 19:50

🤔

chingachush · 14/07/2026 20:09

Are you joking @Middleaged77?

30 is not middle aged at all. Nor is a 7 year age gap. I’d understand if she was 16 and he was 23 but come on. Is it not better that he’s older? She won’t have the issue that most men her age have which is still wanting to go out and party. He’s matured which is a good thing that she doesn’t have to put up with all that young man shit. Get over yourself and let her live. She’s an adult.

Didimag48 · 14/07/2026 20:37

Your "middle aged man" made me laugh! My sister dated a 36 year old when she was 20 They got married when she was 21 as Mum didn[t approve 😊
She will be 80 this year and her husband is 96!!!!

NotMeAtAll · 14/07/2026 21:03

This is unhinged.

A 7 year age gap is nothing. And, a 30 year old is not middle aged.

You need to calm down with this overreaction.

ChamonixMountainBum · 13/07/2026 11:52

I was expecting her to be dating a 50something year old man based on that thread title.

This!

7 year age gap is really common.

willitevergetwarm · 15/07/2026 09:12

My EX-DH was 8 years older than me, I met him when I was 20. We didn't split because of the age gap.

My now DH is 9 years younger than me and no one bats an eyelid, in fact his brother didn't even realise until we were talking about approaching 50 and he thought he would be the first not knowing that I had celebrated mine 2 years previously during lockdown .

She's not a teenager and knows her own mind and a 7 year age gap is nothing in grown up land, where age is just a number.

MajorProcrastination · 15/07/2026 10:42

Middleaged77 · 14/07/2026 18:18

She’s not 30

NOR IS YOUR DAUGHTER'S BOYFRIEND!
Why must you be so consistently obtuse?!

He'll be 30 at the end of the month so he is still 29, by which time your daughter will be 23. TWENTY THREE!!!!

Neither of them are middle-aged.

Or are you envisaging a Kevin-the-teenager style transformation on the strike of midnight as he turns 30? He'll turn around in the kitchen and his hoodie will have transformed into a knitted cardigan, his hair will have receded into a comb over, and he'll have developed an interest in garden centres.

LBFseBrom · 15/07/2026 10:54

There's nothing wrong with that age difference at all, your daughter is a grown woman and he is a young man, not middle-aged by a long shot.

Louise2092 · 15/07/2026 13:03

I met my husband when I was 22 going on 23 and he was 33 going on 34. We've now been together 11 and a half years and married for 4 (should have been 6 but, covid). We met at work and have similar personalities so are a good match.

My ex was 19 when we met (on a holiday with parents) and I had just turned 16. We were together for 4 years before splitting due to just being too different. I was already quite mature and preferred nights in, date nights etc whereas he wanted to spend every weekend getting drunk with his friends (and me).

Age is literally just a number when you're mature enough for the relationship. As long as they're a good match and he treats her well, why does the age gap bother you?

THEDEACON · 15/07/2026 14:12

Get a life OPyou are being RIDICULOUS

Itsalittlebitwarm · 15/07/2026 18:45

So both in their 20s lol what's the problem?

notacooldad · 15/07/2026 18:49

Well you may well be upset but there's nothing you can do about it. It's all above board whether you like it or not.
