Husband pees on seat, rim and floor, says its normal

As the title says. And me and my 16 y o daughter wipe it up as we don’t want to sit on it or have it touch our legs or feet (if splashed on the floor) and it’s not water as it’s yellow.
Sometimes there is small bits of poo on the floor and he says that is also normal and that all men have issues with aim etc and the poo is a mistake...
We clean it as we share a bathroom and we prefer it clean.
He asked me to post here and says he is a standard man when it comes to this. He’s 53.

IABU - for flagging it
NBU - for flagging it

It is mainly on the rim (as the seat is left up) but he flushes with the lid open so I see it and wipe it as when I sit down the wee touches my thigh from the side of the rim.

He asked me to post this as he says most men do sprinkle and get it on toilet or floor.

Am not making this up!!

Edited

My teenage son doesn’t. Never has. Apart from may be a few occasions when very little.

arethereanyleftatall · 12/07/2026 20:35

If the op and her husband have to ask strangers if it’s normal that his teenager daughter cleans up his shit and piss; it’s a bit of a concern what else is going on in their house.

Pinkflamingo10 · 12/07/2026 20:35

If this is a real story -he is gross 🤮
and I live with my husband and three sons

Munchyseeds2 · 12/07/2026 20:35

It's never been normal in our house!
Yuk!

Clara27 · 12/07/2026 20:38

He sounds utterly disgusting. He wants you to post about it why? Is he trying to justify leaving his mess behind him? In no world is that acceptable behaviour from an able bodied person. Is he your daughter’s father? What way have you explained this to her?

We have argued many times about it. He said “post on Mumsnet”

He doesn’t make us clean it, it’s just like that in the morning sometimes

If he hasn't cleaned it... he's making you clean it. And worse.. he's making his 16 year old DD clean it?

I'd honestly have his bags packed so flipping fast.

As a retired nurse; this is not at all unusual.
Lots of little factors contribute to the problem; weight, length of the penis, hydration, age as it relates to prosate health.
Stool, that again not unusual due to hair in the area.
What helps, prostate check, weight management so he can see his stream. Fluids, hydrated but not too much.
Wet wipes for cleaning the bottom works better than TP, bidet attachment also very helpful.

None of that would stop him cleaning up after himself.

But why do you tolerate it... and why don't you both respect your daughter?

Saz12 · 12/07/2026 20:41

Its not normal in my house.

If he cant aim, or cant without splashing, then he should sit down to pee.

He tgen needs to clean up after hinself.

CustardySergeant · 12/07/2026 20:42

2% have voted that YABU for flagging it! WTF?

I am extremely upset about the effect on her.

I voted NBU but I had to read the options about 5 times because I'm tired. I assume others have done the same.

He is her dad, yes.

Well you have posted now OP. Show him it isn't considered normal on here to make other people grapple with your waste products.

You are right to confront him over this.

cantthinkofagoodusername2026 · 12/07/2026 21:01

How utterly vile. If he can't aim properly like a big boy, then maybe he needs to sit down to wee.
It sounds to me like he views both you and DD with contempt - why else would he make such a mess and leave it for others to deal with?

SaltyCara · 12/07/2026 21:04

Even if it was normal for the mess to occur, what is his defense for not checking and cleaning up after himself every single time? He's a dirty bastard.

Cherrysoup · 12/07/2026 21:20

Julytrees · 12/07/2026 20:05

He doesn’t make us clean it, it’s just like that in the morning sometimes

So he IS making you clean it up because he hasn't. Horrid.

Sunnyjac · 12/07/2026 21:21

Absolutely revolting. He has no excuse. He knows he makes a mess and he doesn’t do anything about it. I’d have been long divorced. Total lack of respect for you and his view of his daughter I can’t even guess. Maybe he’s aiming for her to be celibate?!

Pedallleur · 12/07/2026 21:22

RufustheFactualReindeer · 12/07/2026 20:06

Its not normal…he is a dirty fucker

It is that simple. He should sit down to use toilet and if he can't wipe his backside then he either needs toilet training or leave.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 12/07/2026 21:23

He's 53 NOT 3 !!!

disgusting.

NoSausage · 12/07/2026 21:23

Surely new behaviour? You didn't marry him and put up with this for 16 years?

So is this like a new thing he is doing to degrade you?

morbidcuriosity · 12/07/2026 21:24

Can't be real.. If it is why on earth are you putting up with that!!!

If he seriously has a medical problem where he pisses and shits on the floor then he needs to be the one cleaning up.

Tell him to grow up and behave! Dirty fucker!!

Sparklybanana · 12/07/2026 21:27

I pressed the wrong button! But I agree that it could well be normal to pee all over the place, afterall, my SIX YEAR OLD son does wee everywhere. But the difference between my overgrown toddler and yours, is that mine wipes it up!
Tell him that each time you find the toilet like that, you're going to clean it up for his lazy ass, using his washcloth and toothbrush to get those hard bits of poo off.

Greyhound98 · 12/07/2026 21:28

Gross. Shitting on the floor is tolerable only in puppies and elderly dogs. Rehome him to someone with lower standards and replace him with a lovely dog which will have far more respect for you.
