None of the major parties are competing…

Farage won Clacton with 46% of the vote…

If the 54% united together to vote for Binface, we could have the most preposterous election outcome of all time!

I reckon this could get some genuine momentum… all the other parties would LOVE this result, and even if they didn’t actively campaign for it, would surely quietly be gunning for Binface to win.

I certainly wouldn't dream of furthering the derail of the thread by expressing the opinion, sorry - fact, that Israel is a racist settler colonial project and that has nothing to do with antisemitism. So back to talking about Binface. 😃

He has a wide ranging set of policies.
Such as:
All water bosses to take a dip in British rivers, to see how they like it
WiFi on trains that works.
Also trains that work
Cyclists who break the Highway Code to be forced to ride unicycles instead
A ban on speakerphones on public transport, with offenders forced to live with Matt Hancock for a year
Shops that play Christmas music before December to be closed down and
turned into public libraries
Capping the price of Wigan kebabs at £2
Building one affordable home
Implementing a rule that means cyclists who break the highway code must ride a unicycle instead.
Flake "99" ice creams should not legally be allowed to cost any more than 99p.

Calling something a genocide doesn't diminish the Holocaust any more than calling something a war crime diminishes Nuremberg. "Genocide" is a legal term, not exclusive to one historical event. If you disagree that it applies here, explain why. Questioning people's motives makes you look foolish. Everyone sees you.

The problem here is that you think of 'the left' as a homogenous blob. It's as diverse and complex as any group of people. This is the problem: it's so nice and easy to think of people who are not like us as 'the enemy' and all the same. It's comforting to be able to point the finger at 'them'.

The reality is very different. A lot of my family members are politically considerably to the right of me. Nevertheless we have more in common, including in our political beliefs, than we have divisions. We are all decent human beings who care for each other and support each other.

And when people start indulging in groupthink, everything goes to hell in a handcart. That kind of thinking is why people vote for the likes of Farage too.

Come on guys, there is a whole forum dedicated to CITME. There is a reason many of use don't go on there.

After Boaty McBoatface, I wouldn't put it out of the question at all. Especially given that the rightwing prat vote is likely to be split with that idiot Laurence Fox.

Calling something a genocide when it patently isn’t - especially when used against a people who genuinely suffered one, the worst one in human history - is an indication of a very doubtful agenda.

But I said several times I’d go back to Binface. So I will.

Totally agree that they should tighten the rules so you can't resign and then immediately re-stand. AFTER we've enjoyed a summer of him looking even more of a plonker than usual.

I still can't shake the thought that he's taking a brief 'bribe break' from being an MP. According to him he can take as much undisclosed money as he likes before he's elected. Maybe the 5 million didn't last as long as he expected.

Probably not many, but a few hundred seems realistic enough. Realistically what votes he does get are going to come from the Farage rather than the Binface pool.

I think we need a new thread exclusively about the byelection. There is surely enough meat there to be long and entertaining.

Yeah, we're talking about someone who got less than 50% of the vote on a 60% turnout. Plus it was 2 years ago, meaning some people will have moved into the area since then or turned 18. If the name of an adult from Clacton were picked out of a hat at random, it would probably be someone who did not vote for Farage.

He’s actually a very intelligent man which has to be an improvement on their current MP .

Don't you just love the right for the way they keep sabotaging each other? No sense of tactics at all.
