Dh didn’t leave me any water or drinks

I was really ill yesterday and especially last night, lots of vomiting etc (sorry tmi)
We live abroad and it’s extremely hot, we don’t drink the tap water here.
The bedroom was a real mess this morning-sick bucket full, duvet yucky, he quietly said my name to wake me up and that he was going to work.
I feel horrendous, so weak and there’s zero water and drinks. I’m trying to set up
a delivery service to see if they can deliver
Does anyone think this is a bit shitty to leave me with no drinks. Feel so dehydrated

That’s mad though. Only 3 bottles? The CDC (and I know you likely don’t live in America but I think it’s very sensible advice regardless) recommend always keeping a minimum of a 3 day supply of water, allowing for 1 gallon per person per day. So for a 2 person household you should always have at least 6 gallons. If by large bottles you mean the 1.5 litre ones then 3 of them is equivalent to only a gallon, so a sixth of what is recommended. That way you’re covered for any emergencies including a horrible stomach bug.

But I agree if there was an open local shop that DH could have popped to before work then he should have done so. The crap planning and not having enough water in is on both of you, and you’re unwell so he should have sorted it if he was able to do so.

We had almost 5 litres in, normally fine and until I was ill yesterday morning, I would have just nipped to the shop yesterday anyway, but it can come on suddenly
I asked him to please get painkillers after work, I suppose he could have got extra drinks in then

You drank all the water. He didn’t take it.

cinquanta · Yesterday 10:17

Don’t you have taps?

He slept in the other room

Because I was in great pain with kidney stones, so have the bathroom bin next to my bed

My sympathies. I've had kidney stones a couple of times. Both times I had no control over the projectile vomiting.

I drank three large water bottles last night
I have coffee or green tea, but just need cold water

Tbh I find it extraordinary that you have barely any water in your house, considering that you don’t drink tap water.

Are you insinuating that the op is lying?

Don’t you have taps?

Maybe read the OP’s posts.
And then remember you’re privileged to be able to have drinking water on tap. Because it’s nowhere near the case in every part of the world…..

dizzydizzydizzy · Yesterday 10:25

No water! That’s awful. I’m shocked. Has he even phoned to find out if you’re ok?

Do you have any water you can drink? WHO recommends 8 level tsp of sugar and 1 tsp of salt per litre of water to make your own hydration solution.

And, yeah, my dh wouldn’t leave me quite the way yours did.

Some organization ? WHO or Save The Children recommended this to families in developing countries when their children had dehydration. Obviously they had no measuring jugs to gauge a litre so they suggested a Coka Cola bottle….coka cola wouldn’t allow them to use their product for this advice!

Maybe not deliberately lying….just exaggerating!

We did have three large bottles but I went through them all last night, was so thirsty

Drinking copious volumes of water won’t have done you any good….it’s probably what’s made you vomit!

Fucking hell, the dickheads are out in force today!

ilovesushi · Yesterday 10:31

Poor you! Can you call a friend or neighbour to drop some bottled water off? Is his work a long way off? Can he pop back with some supplies. Also do you need to see a doctor!!!???? xxx

Bringemout · Yesterday 10:32

Yeah it is thoughtless, the least he could have done is quickly check if you had everything you needed in the morning before he was going to be out. Fairly sure DH would have made sure everything is clean and I’m comfortable before leaving.

Checkcheckcheck · Yesterday 10:32

Just be aware that kidney stones and increased thirst can both be symptoms of a condition called hyperparathyroidism. Worth looking into by asking to have your calcium and vitamin d tested from the same blood draw.

That is shocking! Is he normally so lacking in empathy? Or is he absolutely run off his feet?

Yes it did make me vomit more, but when you’re in pain and out of it and incredibly thirsty, it happens
