I mean really, this is just pathetic. No one is believing that KC couldn’t find a spare bed for his son. AIBU to think that as the parent KC needs to get a grip and grow up instead of just fuelling the drama?

Buckingham Palace says Prince Harry will not stay at palace

Royal sources say the Duke of Sussex had not responded to the offer of accommodation at a Royal residence by the deadline last week.

I don’t generally take much notice of the RF.
So, can any one explain to me why Harry needs/must have such a high level of security? I gather the Prince and Princess of Wales move around the country and we don’t know about it til after, likewise any other celeb or famous person… Soooo, why is Harry different?
Is it a genuine threat? Have they got an inflated idea of their own importance?
Who is the perceived security risk about - him, MM, the children?

I seriously don’t understand it?

If he just came here quietly, would anyone actually
notice, or even care?
Other folk manage to move around unseen, why not him? 🤷‍♀️

Have you read some of the posts about him, his wife and kids online? I'd say that, going by the rage some seem to feel just at their existing that they are at more risk of a loon than any other person in the family.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 06/07/2026 17:41

To be honest it just shows how out of touch his American team are with the way ther RF runs. They don't have spare staff just sitting around. Food has to be ordered, cleaners, security. They asked him to respond by a date, they thought he would still be allowed to attend, he now can't. More fool him.

palron · 06/07/2026 17:41

Of course he would be pleased to see him. If you read back my post, I said he would be happy to see him if for example William and Camilla were away in Australia or New Zealand at the time. He won't do it right now though as he is terrified of both of them. 😊

Do you have evidence for KC's fear of his wife and son?

Tiddlywinks63 · 06/07/2026 17:43

FenellaFeldman · 06/07/2026 17:15

Yes, I suspect he took it all for granted; housekeeping, chefs, valet service, drivers, travel arrangements, security. Probably just thought it all appeared like magic.

And he wanted a royal helicopter for his transport all week.
Privileged prat.

Also re staffing and preparations, I expect Harry travels with quite an entourage so it won't just simply have been one room with one dinner and breakfast to prepare.

He wants to be big Willy and what Willy gets he wants.

He didn’t get the memo that Willy is the next king not him somehow.

So, Harry, as usual is excused. Got it 👍

No but you might consider he thinks this kind of thing is normal since he saw his mum and dad do it multiple times - including in Charles' case dissing his own parents and childhood.

I think younger people forget that this happens every generation with the royal family. happy families they are not.

How is he? He isn’t the one running the the media every time something doesn’t go his way!

Wasn't it the RF / Palace ...who said H wouldn't be staying in any royal property?

mintleavesandthyme · 06/07/2026 17:06

They are all entitled though.

the king thinks we should pay for HIS son’s security. No thanks!

On a point of fact, the Met provides security here for royals of UK domicile. I don't think that's unreasonable given the royals are considered to be civil servants of a kind, and an attack on any of them could be very harmful to bystanders too. They're part of the British institution so in that sense it's like the Met providing security for a famous London landmark. I know as a republican that won't sit well with you, but it makes sense and is consistent; if we do have a royal family, rightly or wrongly, they will need security.

Harry gave that up when he ceased being of UK domicile (how the hell is the Met supposed to cover him in America?). Maybe it applies when he's back here, I don't know, but I can certainly see why it would require notice if so.

How come William doesn't behave like this?
Harry is an adult.
He makes his own choices.
I have no idea why people infantilise him.

Anarchy99 · 06/07/2026 17:49

Given Harry’s habit of reporting everything to those journos he purports to hate, I don’t think anyone wants the whinging little git within ten miles. And who could blame them?

waltzingparrot · 06/07/2026 17:50

If I was KC, I'd have offered Harry a bedroom at Clarence House and put a couple of camp beds in there for the kids 😁. KC could then have spent some quality time with the grandkids. Perfectly secure. What could Harry have complained about with that arrangement?

Or even better again, Camilla could offer rooms at her pad in the country. Very safe horsey country, easy to patrol and secure. KC3 even bought out the pad next door for Camilla's security. Perfect spot for a happy and safe family visit don't you think?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 06/07/2026 17:55

It’s not just Harry who would be staying at BP it would also be his entourage, that entourage would include PR/Personal Assistants/ private security guards etc. these people have to be vetted, they can’t all rock up to Buckingham Palace at a few hours notice, it’s not a case of Harry sleeping on a sofa bed, it involves security, hospitality, logistics and staff organisation, Harry was given a deadline for all of this, he chose to ignore it, it’s not KC’s fault at all, all of this is on Harry.

Lugol · 06/07/2026 17:56

Harry and Meghan live in the US - land of guns - and move about freely with absolutely no concerns for their safety.
That's despite the fact that people get shot every day of the week where they live.
They allegedly want to come to UK where nobody has any guns but unless the tax payer shells out a fortune for private protection for a couple of non royals they won't come.
Harry didn't reply deliberately so he can push this narrative of poor son disowned by his father who offered them somewhere safe to stay with royal protection.

Don't forget that Harry is still costing us all a fortune suing the Home Office and is stamping his feet.

If it's so unsafe in the UK why hold the Invictus games here?

HelenaWilson · 06/07/2026 17:57

On a point of fact, the Met provides security here for royals of UK domicile.

Other than the King and Queen and the Waleses, I think they only get security when they're carrying out official engagements. Since H won't be carrying out royal engagements, there's no reason why he should get publicly funded security.

And if he was planning to bring not just himself but an entourage to BP, I imagine there would have to be security checks on them, so even more reason for adequate notice to be needed.

And herein lies the issue
Do you really think that it’s just “the room should have been prepared”??You just think it’s a case of making sure the bed has fresh sheets??
It’s Buckingham Palace -not the Premier Inn!
Harry’s ‘team’ (why he needs a team is beyond me. He is a jobless private citizen) were told he needed to make a decision by Friday. On Saturday they advised Harry would not be staying. Then Harry’s ‘team’ decided this morning he WOULD be staying - BP told him No, itwas too late.
This is because it’s too late to sort out the staff security etc needed. Doyou think there are a load of people milling round waiting to be allocated in case Harry turns up?
I don’t know why you think it’s the Kings PR that have been ‘dripping’ stories when we know that Harry's special WhatsApp group of reporters were furious with the Messing round/changing story from Monteshitshow.
It’s a continuation of the drama that follows H&M - but not the King who just wants to get on with his duty.

Harry is a bloody awful son. Stupid, entitled, ungrateful.

no it’s not just a case of changing the sheets, because that’s not where Charles lives - he pointedly didn’t offer a room in his own home.

But a room was possible to make available to harry. The King surely would not have offered if it was never possible to make good on that offer. The arrangements - however extensive they were, should have been made assuming it was a “yes” from Harry from the point the offer was made. Even if he then turned it down. The Palace should have prepared for the visit they offered. And as they knew harry was over for the court case, they knew the dates, this isn’t something they couldn’t do, it’s something they didn’t do.

It’s an own goal, it’s a gift to Harry’s claim of being a victim. It’s wasted all the effort the palace PR have done to reframe the story to being Harry throwing a tantrum, Charles not being to blame.
