AIBU to think King Charles comes across as a really crap dad?

I mean really, this is just pathetic. No one is believing that KC couldn’t find a spare bed for his son. AIBU to think that as the parent KC needs to get a grip and grow up instead of just fuelling the drama?

Royal sources say the Duke of Sussex had not responded to the offer of accommodation at a Royal residence by the deadline last week.

No, not even “Clearly Charles would be making one phone call to his Valet / Assistant whoever.”

@Newname26

I do not believe Harry has a way to directly contact his father.

Your probably right.
But I'd still think the information would have been run pasted Charles before "H was told No Your too late" .

KC doesn't treat the domestic staff badly. They are not rostered on the whim of an over privileged Prince. Imagine if Harry thought the rooms hadn't been security swept?
He'd certainly go to town with his pal Chris Ship or mates at People magazine.

Oh yeah, he’s got a thing going on with Shippy, hasn’t he?

Anyway looks like Meghan’s bailed on him.

Don't tell me; not coming to the UK?

Don't tell me; not coming to the UK?

I think that security or lack of or not exactly what H wants will always be the reason the M, A & L don't come over won't it?

Did anyone think that they would?

Also nowhere or them all to stay safely as there was a "miscommunication" re BP!

It's the UK not the Congo. I think they'll be fine.

Newname26 · 09/07/2026 23:36

Theyll be fine where ever H is staying. I'm sure he's managed to find somewhere. He's not exactly sleeping on a park bench.

Well according to recent, conflicting reports!! ….she’s out , she’s in , she’s going for the win! , she does the Hokey Cokey , then she sniffs it all in!

Newname26 · 10/07/2026 01:02

Just a thought.
Could Meg be scared to bring the kids to the UK incase H doesn't let them leave again?

FenellaFeldman · 10/07/2026 07:10

I had to laugh at him at that Birmingham hospital, lamenting the poor NHS funding, yet he wants limitless taxpayer funded security whenever!
I doubt he spotted the irony.

It's not my opinion that they wouldn't be safe btw.

I assume that's their excuse/reasoning for just H coming when BP wasn't available.

I don’t think KC Was a great father but not because of this. Harry is an adult who was asked to respond by the deadline and failed to do so.

Thank you @Recklessismymiddlename

I want them all gone as I said above but the dissonance between the Epstein link cover up ( and I believe we should be looking at an Epstein class not just individuals) and the tabloid hounding of Harry is stark

Almost as if they are trying to build a hate figure to distract from Andrew . And speaking of entitled I was reminded the other day of Edward the meek who let slip ‘ who are the victims really’ when he was ( gently)
asked about Andrew
Very revealing about the mind set .

I’m baffled that anyone defends the Windsors with all the pedophile links associated with them . And esp now with the state of the country and their ballooning take from the tax payer .
To me Harry is revealing a lot about the mafia family called the Windsors - whether he intends to or not .

That mention of Edward’s mention of victims ‘the other day’ - are you referring to this Q+A in February? What do you think it reveals about the mindset?

Prince Edward made the comments at the World Governments Summit in Dubai after being asked by a CNN journalist how he was "coping" with the fallout from the files.
^^
The duke, who is the youngest of King Charles' siblings, replied: "Well, with the best will in the world, I'm not sure this is the audience that is the least bit interested in that.
"They all came here to listen to education, solving the future, but no, I think it's all really important, always, to remember the victims and who are the victims in all this."

Desperatelyseekinglazysusan · 10/07/2026 08:16

Well the obvious answer to how someone was ' coping' in that situation would be ' it's not about me, it's about the victims of vawg,' mention his wife etc. Not make it sound like world governments shouldn't be interested in global trafficking and questioning who the victims were! Surely a man ' trained from birth ' apparently into a diplomatic role could do better than that, even off the cuff if any of them actually gave a crap.

I don't get the outrage here - he acknowledged the questioner's point but also pointed out that he was there to focus on education. That's fair enough. If I'd been part of that long-planned event I'd have been mighty annoyed to have it derailed by something totally unconnected.

You might say - well, he WAS connected to Andrew's crimes - but that's not the point. The people whose event it was, who'd invited him to officiate, wouldn't see it that way.

Personally I think it's pathetic to keep shouting 'But Andrew!' to every royal on official business. As if they're going to be able to do anything there and then, or throw light on it...it's just a way of disrupting things and affects not so much the RF but the public they're there to visit. It's just goady and irrelevant.

I think some pps on here think we're talking about one room for Harry.

I don't know how many people would be in his entourage, but I'm sure it would have meant a huge operation for BP, especially since the building is out of use officially at the moment. It just won't be staffed, kitchens will have been shut down etc etc.

There'd be Harry (who knows, even Meghan and the kids at one point), PR people, personal assistants, nannies, security staff, admin people, secretaries...you name it. It would be a major operation accommodating them, and you can bet that both H & M would have been very particular about their demands - and made all kinds of rules about BP staff having contact with them 'for securiddee reasons - for the kids' etc.

He was obviously saying “I’m not the victim here and it’s important to remember them, not those of us who may be upset by this but aren’t the actual victims.”

No, not a chance. I know this keeps getting mooted but IMO it’s really nonsense. Who on earth is going to allow H to go against the Hague Convention and UK law? Both of these force the UK to promptly return wrongfully removed children to their country of habitual residence.

And that’s the key issue: those children belong in the jurisdiction of the US should one of their parents choose to continue residing there. International and domestic laws recognise jurisdiction over custody.

The thought that Charles would become involved on H’s behalf contrary to this country’s obligations and laws is risible. The 1980 Hague Convention overrides any post-mediaeval early-modern ‘custody’ purview he might theoretically have once had as monarch, when the issue was bound up with female parents having few rights following marital breakdown.

Today is different. Charles will simply advise H to get a good solicitor here and a Shit Hot Lawyer in California. Names might be suggested. A cheque may be written to assist. But those children belong predominantly in California now.

Exactly! , those children are for all extensive purposes Americans! , why would Harry spirit them away from their mother and the only home they know?

no. He has no reason to want to do that. He loves her deeply. Forsaking all others incl his own family, friends and country. No way he xould do that.

FenellaFeldman · 10/07/2026 11:23

Oh yes, that’s M’s weak point all right. I think H and his lawyers would certainly be able able to advance a ‘dual heritage’ argument for the purpose of holiday visits to H / the UK, but of course this was only ever an intended dual heritage. The kids haven’t been to the UK for four years? And may or may not be here for a day or two?

Anything H comes up with about future plans for their schooling, residency etc could be put down to his unilateral wishes that M never agreed to. Yet again, he’s stuffed it up, and his Pa can’t help him. H is a big boy of nearly 42 years old now, responsible for his own mess-ups, and it’s not that Charles won’t help him - it’s that more often than not now he just can’t.

I’ve seen it in some university students: the total shock when they realise that the magic wand of Ma and Pa has stopped working. For H this moment has come much later, but it is here.

Although he's not quite forsaken the taxpayers of the UK, has he? We're still necessary it would seem.
