I mean really, this is just pathetic. No one is believing that KC couldn’t find a spare bed for his son. AIBU to think that as the parent KC needs to get a grip and grow up instead of just fuelling the drama?

Royal sources say the Duke of Sussex had not responded to the offer of accommodation at a Royal residence by the deadline last week.

What?

It's Harry who has been frantically briefing the press for the past few weeks! Even leaking his 'itinerary' which is a rather odd thing for a person supposedly obsessed with security to do.

What on earth would Charles or William have to gain from this drama? Nothing other than a massive headache.

How do you know it was all from Harry?

Gemilo · 06/07/2026 21:52

mintleavesandthyme · 06/07/2026 21:43

Well he could pay himself and hasn’t so…

It’s nothing to do with who pays. Harry wants to use the police security here and offered to pay but they have made it clear that they are not for hire. He has his own security but doesn’t want to use them.

IcedPurple · 06/07/2026 21:52

Because the 'statements' were attributed to his 'spokesperson'.

Who else would be leaking his 'itinerary'?

Exactly. Newspapers attributed … but did really all of that come from Harry? Do you always take everything at the face value?

last I remember they all quoted valid sources about the tights row or whatever it was at Meghans wedding when “megham made Kate cry” and then it turned out it was exactly the opposite 😆

People really need to stop looking at this through their own family eyes.

This is the king. He has people who organise his life and his properties. One does not simply pop in. It’s not an extra bed being made up in dad’s house. It’s not a punishment.

The estate manager and security needed time to get staff, make up a suitable apartment and get security. The men in grey suits as they get called.

Charlie boy probably had zero to do with it at all. Other than being informed that an offer of residence had been made and that they would arrange it all if accepted.

This is it. All the "nothing would stop me seeing my grandchildren" brigade seem to have forgotten that they;

Are not the King of England
Do not need need complex security planning for visits
Do not have vast numbers of people who have their life organised for them
Heads of state cannot just "hop on a plane"

Furthermore I'm guessing most of them haven't had a child who;

Went on Oprah to slag them off
Star in their own Netflix six part series moaning about their own family
And if that wasn't enough, write a book making further negative comments and reveal initmate details about their family.
And then take part in other interviews too.

I mean if I did that, I cant imagine my parents be in any sort of hurry to meet me.

The Royal family are on a different planet to us completely. They can't possibly be compared to how we act or feel about our family.

Actually, the Home Office lawyer clarified that Harry never offered to pay.

It's a moot point anyway, for the reasons you mention.

In 2021 or 2022?

You're really tying yourself up in knots here.

What do you think is going on? Who is leaking 'statements' incorrectly claiming to be from Harry's 'spokesperson'? Who would gain from that? Like I said this is all a pain in the behind for Charles. The only person who benefits from the drama is Harry.

And given that he and his wife clap back at every silly little thing, why would they let all these falsely attributed 'statement's pass without comment?

Charlize43 · 06/07/2026 22:01

I think KC may be between a rock and a hard place. I don't think Harry's ever gotten over his mother's death and probably hates Camilla.

Horses7 · 06/07/2026 22:04

Harry has burnt so many bridges and caused so much anger and hurt - I’m surprised any of them are still talking to him never mind housing him in palaces.
Remember he doesn’t want to have any royal responsibilities just the trappings when he wants them

NautilusLionfish · 06/07/2026 22:04

mintleavesandthyme · 06/07/2026 16:16

he is perpetuating the drama though

They are both petulant. There were so many "releases" last week from California it bordered on idiotic. And then again, the king could just tell him to pop over to Clarence house. As a father not a monarch. And don't anyone come at me with institutional rules. These people break all sorts of rules when it suits them so breaking protocol to see the son you haven't seen in years shouldn't be an issue. Similary, if Harry can go to Nigeria (so much corruption and kidnappings) and Colombia (narco state with its own kidnappings), and if he can be alone knocking on doors in London at night, he can visit London with his security team without releasing a Pentateuch and a new testament. Its all very exhausting even for those of us with no stake in it (BBC and the likes covering this d-rated soap opera instead of useful news). And if London is so dangerous he cant bring his wife and kids, why come over and risk being killed leaving his young children knowing how the lost of a parent affected him? Surely a good foundation can survive without its founder - he can delegate UK activities and visit only safe countries like Colombia and Nigeria.

Both act as if they will live for ever. Yes they have a reputation for long lifespans but life can surprise you. And even if they live to 200 years old and reconcile 50 years from now, they have lost so much already. King has lost the wonderful early years of his grandkids. The biggest lost in the equation IMO. Harry has lost connecting with his niece and nephews, the cousins knowing each other and forming bonds to depend on each other in the future. And he has lost the opportunity to support his father on his cancer journey. I have lost siblings and a parent and the profoundness of that, the deep sense of loss and the regrets of words unsaid, support not give, hand not held is unimaginable. Pig headed idiots (Apologies pigs).

Daisyhon · 06/07/2026 22:04

This is a non story , the Royals have arguments & disagreements like any other family only difference is theirs are dissected by the whole world instead of remaining private . Regardless I don’t understand the whole Royal thing , it’s absolutely ridiculous to bow to or fawn over anyone who is born into huge wealth & privilege . I will never bow to another human being as long as I live .

EmeraldShamrock000 · 06/07/2026 22:08

Yes. He is not a nice man. He was always a terrible selfish father putting his needs before his family.
He is as cold as a dead fish as far as loving parents are concerned.
Life has a funny way of tipping the tables, he could be excluding the future King.
Neither William or Charles don’t have the energy or charm the Queen had.
How long did it take him to call out Andrew. I find it hard to believe that Charles wasn’t aware of Randy Andy’s actions, as the future King he should have dealt with him years ago. The Queen too, it has tarnished her good name that she built.

His own security are not able to carry firearms here and aren't able to access intelligent information about who might be a threat to him. If he had protection in the UK he would get both.

Do people really depend on their cousins in the future? I get on reasonably well with mine, but we certainly wouldn't be at the top of list for each other in times of hardship. I dont know anyone that has that sort of relationship with their cousins as they get older!

Me. But it obviously varies significantly by family.

You may or may not. One issue is that they live in such an artificial world that its not easy to trust outsiders even decades after they were "your friends". They dont have to. But its an option available to them. I certainly have cousins that I totally depend on for certain things. Its good to have options

They are children now, Children definitely benefit from a good close cousin relationship and do come together in times of need as adults, funerals and weddings.

Am I reading that Charles is a dreadful, selfish father but somehow the Queen had a good name and energy and charm?

She lived on a different country for two years while Charles aged 1-3 lived in the UK. She went on a six month tour when Charles was 5 leaving him at home. He was brought up by nannies and only saw his mother for a few hours a day if that. She was by all accounts a far worse and distant and emotionally unavailable parent than Charles was. And I'm not disputing he was a dreadful, selfish father (I really dont know him). But the Queen is hardly an example of a selfless, loving mother.

You’ve seen him in private parenting mode have you?
Lots of times presumably since you know he was “always a terrible selfish father and……as cold as a dead fish”
It’s odd since you spent so much time with him that you think he has no energy since it’s well known he’s a workaholic .
This thread isn’t about AMW.
If you want to bang on about him why don’t you find an appropriate thread.

So the same as for any other celebrity or high profile person. He’s not a working royal anymore so not entitled to it. Tough for him but it is what it is.
