AIBU to wish women’s T-shirts and tops were made a bit longer?

I do wish women’s t-shirts were 3-4cm longer in length. I’m 5ft 8 and some t-shirts are too short in the length. It just needs a few cm longer and looks better. It would not drown the shorter ladies.

I do buy men’s t-shirts but I want some tops with feminine designs etc

Don’t care how long they are, but please make them thick and with room in the chest!

Lovelyview · 04/07/2026 18:08

Completely agree. I'm 5'9" and have to buy men's tops for exercise classes because women's are far too short.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 04/07/2026 18:09

Actually, what is the reason women’s clothes are sizes 10, 12 etc? Wouldn’t it be easier for everyone (including manufacturers) to have it all in inches or cm?

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 04/07/2026 18:22

It's because I'm short of torso but the boobage takes up the slack. So if I hold a jumper up against me it looks fine, but the norks make the front ride up too far.

They are usually a good few inches too long for me and I am not tiny!

I had to give mine to my tiny mum, she’s 4’10” and they fitted her nicely,

Long Tall Sally is better for this but the quality is variable.

Some online shops have the length in cms in the description but unfortunately that's usually too short so only useful for ruling things out.

I'm tall and get all my t-shirts from Amazon. Never had any issue with length. I just search for "long fitting women's t-shirts".

This is me, the only ones I've found that are cut for a woman but long enough I found by accident because my 5ft mother bought one and told me it was long enough to be a dress (she exaggerates) , I am a little taller than you and I can reach up in these without exposing my stomach. They also come in multipacks

I have bought a 5 pack of these. It's not listed on the website. One has stripes and the other has palm trees. Then a dark red, khaki and white

Why do the multipacks have a white t-shirt? I don't wear white unless its undies. Even trainer liners maybe mainly white but got coloured heels etc

Are they poly? Polyester is ok outside the summer with a hoodie. Not in the summer.

Thank you! Not only t shirts, but jackets and jumpers too. I want my belly to be covered if I raise my hands above my head 🤣 everything seems to be so short these days and it really boils my piss! Zara is the worst for it.

DJKATIE · 04/07/2026 18:44

Absolutely I am 5ft 7 and have to pass on so many lovely looking tops because they are all so short

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/07/2026 18:46

I agree , l am 65 and ldont want my wrinkly midriff showing to all and sundry 🙄

Poly-blend. I wear them to work all day as a dog walker and at home and they're fine for me.

Hard disagree sorry. I'm 5'3 with a short body, long legs and big boobs, most tops I can find look terrible on me and point out how out of proportion I am. I mostly buy tops from charity shops now as older tops are a better length, new ones are all too long for me.

Agree with PP that tops should come in short/standard/long like trousers (sometimes) do.

PuppyMonkey · 04/07/2026 18:57

I’m obsessed with trying to find the perfect length of a T-shirt. I’m only 5ft 4ins so it’s not the same issue as you OP but I hate the shorter length tees these days leaving your crotch and arse on full view. Just not a pleasant look imho. OTOH I also don’t want a mini dress length tunic

i just want a T-shirt that ends at or a little bit below the crotch. For me, this works because it makes my legs appear longer. Can I find such a thing? Can I?

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 04/07/2026 17:29

Woolovere and LandsEnd do petite ranges so I assume their normal range must be longer.

Woolover tops are really short on me.
5’8” and long in the body.

pointythings · 04/07/2026 19:08

Hard agree. I'm 5'10'' and those few extra inches would make such a difference!

FullLondonEye · 04/07/2026 19:10

Sorry OP but please, no! I'm about the same height as you but disproportionately long of leg and short of body. It's already hard enough to find a swimsuit where I don't have to wear the straps on my ears because it's far too long. Let's not get onto the trend for high waists of the last few years. Fucking diastrous. Even when low rise are available they aren't low rise on me. So please, leave the t shirts alone. They're one of the few things I don't have any issues with.

Enko · 04/07/2026 19:11

I wish they would.do.them in different length sizes like troussers.

Allseeingallknowing · 04/07/2026 19:12

OP- some of Cotton Traders t shirts are extra long

mixingplaydoh · 04/07/2026 19:12

I must be in the minority as I love a waist or hip length boxy t shirt with elbow length sleeves, worn with high waisted shorts or jeans so there’s little to no gap.

RosalieRosa · 04/07/2026 19:15

Yanbu, I am 5'8" tall too and I would love some longer tops. I have taken to wearing dresses as tops over trousers.

GreenLemonade · 04/07/2026 19:18

I’m 5’4 and if anything I would prefer them shorter.
