13 girls going on holiday.
In hotel there is 2 rooms of 4 people, 1 room of 3 people and 1 room of 2 people.
The organiser has planned that everyone pays the same so the people who only have to share with 1 person will pay the same as the people who have to share with 3.
Surely this isnt fair and the cost should be split by room? So for example if a room for 4 is 200, that group pays 50 each.
What would you do in a group whatsapp situation where everyone else has agreed to this...
AIBU to speak up and ask for the cost to be split more fairly? The room for 2 has obviously already been bagged.

Is there a group chat? I would rather obviously say - can I please bagsy a room for 2 if we’re splitting the cost equally? Sounds like a good deal!

Are the 4 to a room just sharing a room or sharing double beds?

The organiser should get the room for 2 for all the work involved and whoever shares with her get the bonus.

Why in earth have you booked rooms for 4? Why not just book all doubles? Sounds like hell.

Wasn't discussed. Organiser just put a message on saying this is what I'm booking and this is what everyone owes

I thought the same! Who wants to sleep in a room with 3 other people...

I honestly wouldn’t mind. if this was an issue then a hotel with all twos should have been booked.
Could those in a four ask to switch it to two twos or do you want a suite for getting ready / games together?

Fuck that, definitely a discount if that’s compared to 2 people sharing a twin room. Particularly if there’s only 1 bathroom between 4.

I would only be happy with this split if it was agreed in advance and room assignment was done at random. You could try playing dumb and just messaging back to the group saying something like ‘what’s the discount for those sharing with more people?’. I don’t think it’s fair as it stands and I’d be surprised if everyone else thought it was!

Op, would NOT be happy sharing a double bed. Completely unreasonable. Twin beds maybe ok but a double?!?! I would not be going.

Are all the rooms the same size? So does the room for 4 have 2 double beds, and the room for 2 have 2 double beds, so they get a bed each?

No the room for two people has one double bed. The room for three has one double and one single and the room for four has two double beds.

Can you just make a separate booking for yourself? Have your own room?

Sounds hellish. I don’t share rooms and certainly not a double bed. I wouldn’t be going with a large crowd like this.

I think as everyone is sharing a double bed (apart from one person) then splitting it equally is fair.

What is the age range of those group? At age 18-25 I wouldn’t give a shiny shite…now at age 41 absolutely not!!

This wouldn’t be an issue for me, I don’t think. I’d be a bit miffed at the ppl who went straight in and dibs the double room without checking if there’s a fairer way to do it, but tbh I think splitting the cost evenly is pretty fair. Things like this are always to be expected on a group holiday.

I would only have shared a double bed with my late husband, or my sister at a push. I wouldn't be going.

Realistically I'd book a room for myself only as there's no way I'd share anymore. If you must share (and I realise it costs to book a room for single occupancy), my view is it should be room cost / no. of people in that room.
