To find Wimbledon a complete Borefest

Just that. Nearly everyone I know is glued to their TVs for hours watching Wimbledon. Its sooooo boring. And the voice of the presenter always gets on my. neves. Am I the only one in the country who hates it. And the noise of the ball bat bat bat.

Agree

tilypu · 30/06/2026 11:23

Pretty sure you aren't the only one. I very rarely watch it. I quite like it when I do, but it's not something I go out of my way to watch.

Thank goodness it's not mandatory!

Roseonthebalcony · 30/06/2026 11:23

Yep boring.

LaliqueSaltGrinder · 30/06/2026 11:26

I don't mind watching the finals. But the early stages are booooooring, however much hard graft Annabelle Croft and Clare Balding put in trying to persuade us otherwise.

Dominates telly for two whole weeks and that's after we've suffered through 2 weeks of sodding football.

lavendervibes · 30/06/2026 11:26

If only there was a way you could watch something else, shame you have only seem have BBC available 😁
I’ve not really watched football but not one bit bothered by people who do and wouldn’t comment on it…(and yes, I do know anyone can start a thread about anything, but some of them are rather pointless, a bit like my own thought and comments 😉)

HelpMeGetThrough · 30/06/2026 11:28

Can’t be arsed with it. Mind you, I find all sports boring as fuck.

No you aren't BU😃

bestestwestest · 30/06/2026 11:31

Don’t like watching it on tv but I imagine going would be a nice experience

Changingplace · 30/06/2026 11:32

Last time I checked nobody is forced to watch anything on the TV they don’t want to, you know you can turn over and watch something else or even just not watch the telly at all.

Boomer55 · 30/06/2026 11:33

I’m lucky - I love football, tennis, rugby and cricket - so great for me at the moment.

On the other hand, I hate soap operas, and these reality shows, so I just avoid them and just watch something else. 🤷‍♀️

takingitdown · 30/06/2026 11:33

YANBU to feel this way, but it’s just how sports are.

Beautifully put. Game, set and match to lavendervibes!

I cannot get excited about other grown-ups playing with a ball. Not lots of men being grossly overpaid to kick a ball across some grass, or two to four people knocking a small ball over a net. It staggers me that people find this interesting. Being the person playing with a ball might be mildly amusing. But watching strangers do it? Why?

Total agreement OP.

Iocanepowder · 30/06/2026 11:40

We are all different. I much prefer Wimbledon to the World Cup.

Buscobel · 30/06/2026 11:40

I used to very much enjoy watching Wimbledon and although it dominates the BBC, it is only two weeks of the year, unlike other sports. In recent years I’ve become far less interested and I think it’s because there are no interesting characters any more. I get that it’s their profession and a multi million pound business, but they’re all so clinical and boring. The personalities of the past are no longer.

REP22 · 30/06/2026 11:41

Agree OP. Deeply tedious. And John McEnroe really grinds my gears. Petulant player who should not be rewarded with lucrative commentary work.

Beetrootfrizz · 30/06/2026 12:02

I look forward to it every year and absolutely love it! There were two thrilling matches yesterday where Sinner and Djokovic battled through against much lower ranked players. It was anything but boring!!

This is such a boring criticism

Anarchy99 · 30/06/2026 12:04

Yes you must be special as the only one in the world who hates it 🙄

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 30/06/2026 12:07

I went with my dad once because he won tickets and it’s safe to say we are not the target audience. We had fun but we had fun because it was a day out, to me it’s a middle class thing I just will never get.

You can win tickets from buying Stella as well, which is a bit weird. As a Stella drinker, I don’t think your average Stella enjoyer would really want to go to watch tennis, I would prefer the football or something.

Footballers bring in huge amounts of money for the companies that employ them. How are they overpaid?

Exactly how I feel. I also used to play socially but everyone got so serious about their game, for me it just took all pleasure out of it.

Everanewbie · 30/06/2026 12:10

YANBU to be bored by Wimbledon. As is someone who is bored by wall to wall soap operas.

The good thing is though, with freeview tv, iplayer, ITVX etc etc. there is a vast array of free alternatives open to you where I am sure that you'll find something you like. And then you, and the fans of the tennis will all be happy in your personal choices.

Aposterhasnoname · 30/06/2026 12:10

All sport is boring.

JoaNiic · 30/06/2026 12:11

I don’t like much that’s on tV nowadays. So much inane chat and violence. If you look at quiz shows in the past, they were faster paced and more to the point. Everything is so dumbed down now, I find that incredibly boring. Look at the difference between a Parkinson interview and the Graham Norton show.. it’s real conversational interchange versus rehearsed PR. Very depressing.
