Bums hanging out of the bottom of teeny tiny shorts

Don’t know if this really AIBU or a question!
AIBU to think that shorts have become way too short ?
I have seen a LOT of girls in shorts today - with their bum cheeks hanging out the bottom ! Personally I wouldn’t let my daughter out like that. And I wouldn’t were them myself (I would give everyone nightmares !).
so what’s the consensus on bums hanging out of shorts ?

Just come back from a Spanish city and kept seeing it there too - looks awful!

I went out to a pub lunch with my gay male friend, he looks straight and is very big and hairy.
The waitress was wearing a tiny skirt and G-string and bent over in front of him at every opportunity.
We were both pissed off. It was rank.

No they didnt but they were still shocking for many of the older generation of that era based on what came before.

There’s currently a thread about a woman concerned about a man she’s seeing—he stares at young (underage) teens who are wearing exactly the outfits described in this thread. Not only does he stare at them, but he runs a commentary on them. Only once the girls leave the restaurant, does he stop with the staring and comments. Everyone is telling her that he’s a red flag creep. I don’t want to be a prude, but I absolutely do not want my young teen girls objectified like this when they’re out with their friends. Yes, women have the right to wear what they want, but there’s also the knowledge that there are creeps like this out in the wild. I don’t want my DD in some creepy man’s wank bank.

I suppose the issue for me is that teenagers have become hyper sexualised by society. I definitely feel this was happening from the 2000s when I was a teenager, we used to wear Playboy bunny branded everything, and I remember there was a fashion for words written in rhinestones on our T-shirts…things like “hussy” and “slapped”. Absolutely horrible when I look back, it actually makes me feel angry. The shorts themselves don’t bother me especially on an adult woman. I don’t know if the mini skirts and short shorts of the 60s and 70s would have been worn by young teens would they (genuine question)?

Yes, before anyone says, they do show a back view. A lot are shorter than that and show most of the buttocks.

It's disgusting IMO and should be banned.

There is always a young teen that will try to wear a more adult style, no doubt back then as well, today the style is more enforced though, they are being primed by social media and the corporates that fund that and it wouldn"t be cool now to wear something that a 30 year old would wear where back in the day the 30 year old was probably a lot hipper than the teen.
Also back then parental control was usually stricter, with the threat of physical punishment in many cases, and if you walked down the street in tight shorts you would have got loads of loud comments, whistles and attention, also negative attention and jokes if you didn"t look quite right, not sure a lot of today"s teens could handle that? The vibe today is - LOOK AT ME with no expectation of criticism or consequence, a running commentary of wolf whistles or jokes from blokes, and maybe some women, just spoils that vibe!

@KeepPumpingyes that’s a good point I hadn’t considered that the girls of the past would have much more negative attention from men, so it would definitely put them off wearing it!

Many would have worn it though but they would have been of strong character. A relative of mine comes to mind who when younger in the 1970"s and 80"s would have worn it but flashed the V sign and given abuse to men wolf whistling or shouting comments, all a load of drama and nonsense really but a lot of teens today are struggling with not getting enough "likes" on their social media, they definitely wouldn"t have coped in that era walking up the street in a bikini or tight shorts!
