Sandals and crusty feet at work

AIBU to think that walking sandals and flip flops are not professional workwear? Yes, it’s been ridiculously hot, but I don’t want to see brittle yellow toenails, crusty dry skin and, in one case, flakes and chunks of skin hanging off the manky trotters of my colleagues 🤮 At the very least, if we are going to be subjected to your toe cleavage, have a pedicure first. And don’t get me started on the smelly ones!

Several posters would disagree with you there, hun - you and whatever the other poster is called have constantly had digs at me when you don’t know me.

Ugliness is sometimes more than skin deep.

I haven't made any personal comments at all. You are clearly acutely sensitive to factual information.

The smell of lavender makes me instantly nauseous and gives me a dreadful headache. I don’t know why, and it’s only got worse since I had covid and my sense of smell went mental.

I feel your pain. Not lavender, but post-covid a lot of things tasted horrid to me for quite a long time including, for no reason I can figure out, mustard, which I've always loved. It still tastes a little weird, but at least I can make a vinaigrette again!

Good for you if you enjoy it. Do you do it yourself?

Definitely not! One of the things I love about it is that it's 45 minutes of downtime (which is about my limit for sitting still). I even turn off my phone.

I don't judge anyone for not having them, by the way. I'm pretty much not bothered by anyone else's feet. Just surprised by how many people don't enjoy them.

I loathe being touched so it wouldn’t work for me

Dear God, the thought of some stranger touching me feet makes me throw up in my mouth a bit.

I get that! Outside of medical needs I hate being touched so badly.

YANBU wearing sandals to work is completely inappropriate.

Why? I work in an office, sandals are fine

Having your feet summer ready is a year round task!!!

Runner here - my feet often have dry patches. I have to constantly work on them. Pumice in the shower at least twice a week, once feet are completely dry I’ll file them. Fungal toenail paint on big toes during the week (long standing and it’s growing out) and a urea cream once every month. I paint my toenails with varnish on a weekend if we are going out. They still aren’t perfect!!! But are presentable enough to wear sandals without having gasps of horror from strangers

I agree though - if they are completely unkempt all year then just shoved in sandals as soon as it’s warm it’s pretty gross to see

Sounds time consuming

It's worth it to have nice looking and feeling feet.

Fair enough. I couldn’t be bothered spending my time with all that pampering. My feet feel fine as I don’t have all the hard skin that most people on here seem to suffer with.

They don’t look nice but that’s how it is. I rarely put them on show but if I do and someone finds me offensive, I am fine with that.
