To ask for a hoover that actually WORKS and will not SHOWER the floor with FILTH !

Having a quick hoover before work. Because we have the completely WORTHLESS shark, which spits and sprays the detritus out the back, all my revolting bits of dirt and grit went all over the floor in a fine mist of grot. I then trod on a shard of glass (c/o the Hoover) which I had to pull out my foot with tweezers. I wanted to be sick. Blood all over the carpet. NOT TOLERATING THIS WORTHLESS CORDLESS MACHINE A DAY LONGER !!!

That’s strange. Has it always done that ? I have a cordless shark and I love it. Do you clean all the filters regularly? Shark customer service is very good, I’d give them a call, they can talk you through it.

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 23/06/2026 08:27

Have you taken it to bits and cleaned all of the filters? My Dyson started doing this and I realised I’d missed one of the filters and it was all clogged.

Sunnyyetnotsunny · 23/06/2026 08:28

It should have a filter. Sounds mor elike malfunction.
I have vax air stretch and love it. But yes, you need to clean the filters and from time to time change for new ones.

Twasasurprise · 23/06/2026 08:30

It does sound like a user, lack of maintenance issue. If it had been useless from the start I'm sure you would have returned it.

I hope your foot heals quickly.

HildegardVonBingham · 23/06/2026 08:37

Thank you all. @Twasasurprise I’ve found it to be quite useless since we got it! It lacks the OOMPH and power of the plug-in Dyson! Do also hate cleaning it as have to use chopsticks to really get all the gristly bits out

I hate cordless vacuums
for this reason cove never felt they have enough suction and the get clogged up so easily.

I have the corded shark lift away with anti hair wrap bar and it brilliant. It almost lost the damn rug up when I’m hoovering, I have to adjust the suction
its a hardy wee thing and I rarely clean the filters out, maybe twice a year when I remember.

scrapple79 · 23/06/2026 09:57

cant beat the good old Henry.

FckThisShit · 23/06/2026 10:07

Never had an issue with my shark. Never had an issue like yours with any of my vacuums actually. I'm suspecting a user error somewhere.

relaxitsok · 23/06/2026 10:22

Henry all the way. I’ve tried a few others and always go back. Cordless are shit.

Sartre · 23/06/2026 10:24

Don’t buy a Dyson is all I will say. Ours set us back £400 last year and it’s the biggest heap of shit imaginable. It constantly says the filter is blocked after vacuuming for all of 2 mins even when the filter has literally just been cleaned and it’s completely empty. It basically just doesn’t work, it’s a bastard and I hate it. Better off with a sweeping brush.

Honeyhonay · 23/06/2026 10:28

It shouldn’t spit anything back up, you’re likely using it to pick up debris that’s too large and it’s causing a blockage which is why things are falling back out.
I go between a Henry and a shark cordless, imo they are designed for different things and both have different benefits.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 23/06/2026 10:29

Henry, made in England, no frills, and just does what it says on the box!! Mine 16 year old and still brill!

Xiaoxiong · 23/06/2026 10:29

@Sartre I feel the same, the cordless Dyson I bought has never worked properly except for maybe the first week or so out of the box and then it just always threw blockage errors when there was visibly no blockage. They even replaced the whole unit once for me because of that blocked filter error, and the second one did the same thing. I was basically stripping the entire thing down and washing the filter every single time I hoovered to try and find the blockage, to no avail.

I now have a corded Shark and an ancient old Henry, both of which do a much better job.

icannotlivelaughloveintheseconditions · 23/06/2026 10:33

I had a shark I hated it. It also broke several times under warranty and they refused to accept refunds so I kept getting replacement parts which I had to fix myself. Never again. Terrible product terrible service.

i have a Henry significantly cheaper and much better. Although he is clunky and dramatic he has great suction bless him

Ginmonkeyagain · 23/06/2026 10:33

We have a Henry Quick. Works well.

cant beat the good old Henry.

Came on to say this. Had mine 15 years. Love him 😍

Sprig1 · 23/06/2026 10:36

You need Henry in your life.

allmycats · 23/06/2026 10:39

Henry - bulky, tips over but cleans everything! Mine is 12 years old and works just like it did when I bought it.

PenelopeAsks · 23/06/2026 10:39

Bosch unlimited 7 (with the joint in the stick). Best I’ve had.

Sahara123 · 23/06/2026 10:41

Personally I hate Henrys, having to drag it round, and I don’t like pushing the wand thing around. I shall stick with my cordless Shark ( ducks quickly 😆)

HoldMyWine · 23/06/2026 10:42

I’ve got a cordless Miele, best cleaner that I’ve had.

HoldMyWine · 23/06/2026 10:42

I hated my Henry, too heavy, always tipping over and bashing into everything

Imtoooldforallthis · 23/06/2026 10:43

I have the Vax blade cordless and never had a problem.

violetcuriosity · 23/06/2026 10:44

Can’t beat a Henry. Best hoover ever.
