Help me pack ten days in ryan air under Seat

To do a ten day holiday in europe with ryan air under Seat hand luggage only. I think I can do it but I have been met with FURIOUS resistance from people saying it’s impossible. Please tell me your best packing hacks for the smallest hand luggage. I can wash clothes six days in so that feels inmediately like only a six day holiday…. Help!

I bet they are all upgrading to the new size, I’ll have to sell mine if I upgrade!

Whilst meant lightheartedly I am sure, sexism on the part of Ryanair in one form or another in the extra charges and luggage restrictions. Not sure which way you could argue, given period products are not required by men.

Nah. You can buy period products abroad, as with any other toiletries. And some men need Tena pads etc.

The point of an underseat bag is that it’s supposed to be a small bag you could take to the bathroom with you, not some tardis-like structure.

If I need the loo on the plane I can take a small bag which is inside my underseat bag. Because my underseat bag contains my passport, a book, emergency knickers(!), a few medicines such as Ibuprofen/immodium etc and my phone. I am NOT also trying to squeeze in two weeks’ worth of holiday clothes.

I agree. I don't think the business model works if too many people don't buy any extras.

I know some people pay a lot more but if a lot of people are paying £50-100 for their fare and not paying for luggage, seats, extra luggage, meals, drinks etc, that can't be a profitable customer, especially with higher fuel costs and air passenger duty taking £26 of the fare.

No idea why ppl are recommending a pair of pants for every day! 2 pairs, wear alternate days and wash in between!

So many posts imply you can only bring a couple of pairs of pants and prob 2 outfits max in an under seat bag. Not true. I took enough clothes for a week with a complete change of outfit every day, plus 2 novels and the sketching gear.

The packing equivalent of mumsnet magic chickens happening on this thread.

I have this one which is the old size and a newer one in the new size. There is barely any difference, especially as this bag is squishy.

Well you may need to boil wash yours but mine are fine with a quick scrub with some handwash liquid.

Fine if you’re happy wearing dirty knickers that haven’t been sanitised.

Running knickers under the shower for a few second with some hand wash does not cleanse the fabric.

Some of us like clean clothes, others are happy to basically wear the same dirty knicks for 2 weeks. Thats your choice but don’t sit next to me ✌️

bless you for your concern about my knickers, they are perfectly fine … soap sanitises you know ! If you have an issue that means yours need soaking and boil washing maybe see your GP.

Washing in a machine doesn't sanitize your underwear.

The soap helps lift the dirt off, the water washes it away.

You want sanitizing, you use bleach or sodium percarbonate or UV light.

Dd was away for 2 weeks with her small rucksack. I saw everything she packed as she loaded stuff in the washing machine when back.

Few pairs of knickers, hand washed while there but it helped that it was hot in Albania. Couple of T shirts and flimsy tops, a dress, small shorts, leggings, toiletries.

She was being charged by Ryanair for oversized bag but she proceeded to wear extra clothing and reduce the bag size.

She was not happy about that!

When I flew to Dublin last October they rejected a line of people who had to repack their overstuffed bags on the floor at the gate - they got a second chance and if it didn't fit it was £60! I'd say this was about 9-10 passengers. I just paid for a cabin bag and a small bag when I booked.

I travel a lot and usually just make do with an underseat bag but it depends on what kind of trip it is - if it's a city break where we are exploring all day and just need functional clothes it's easier.

I have a bag with the exact dimensions and usually take one or two tops per day away and at least one spare spare of trousers. If it's somewhere warm I'll pack sandals but otherwise just wear the same pair of trainers. Always stay in hotels so need less toiletries and I bring minimal makeup and no hair appliances!

However, I have a couple of 4 night trips coming up where it is a socialising with friends type of trip so need more outfits. I haven't booked an extra bag yet and will do some trial packing to see if I really need one.

The only downside to travelling so light is less space for buying anything while away.
