Help me pack ten days in ryan air under Seat

Inheritednamechanged · Yesterday 22:39

To do a ten day holiday in europe with ryan air under Seat hand luggage only. I think I can do it but I have been met with FURIOUS resistance from people saying it’s impossible. Please tell me your best packing hacks for the smallest hand luggage. I can wash clothes six days in so that feels inmediately like only a six day holiday…. Help!

I did three weeks with one! Just did washing and packed underwear in a neck cushion

Where in Europe? Big place

Decant toiletries into the ultra tiny bottles and pots sold by Muji. Layering - so you can add a cardigan if it's cold rather than having to have a whole new outfit. One pair of wear-everywhere shoes. Solid soap, as it's much smaller than shower gel set. Ditto shampoo.

Easy....

Daytimes
swimsuit
1 coverup
1 daytime dress
1 pair of shorts

Evening
Linen trousers x 2 or 3
Dress x 2
Skirt x 1
Blouse × 2
Tshirts x 4

Wear shoes/trainers
Pack sandals x 2

Where in Europe. Weather in Norway will be far different from Southern Italy

ConverselyAttired · Yesterday 22:47

You need to wear your one pair of shoes and one pair of heavier trousers, and then you're going to have to roll up thin t shirts, underwear and a very very thin nightie. No books or heavy toiletries. I cannot stress how small the Ryanair bag sizer is - you might end up with advice from people who have done this with EasyJet but their bags are much bigger!

Do you mean the little rucksack? I did 6 days last week.
Wore jeans, tshirt, jumper, coat, hat, scarf and trainers, on the plane.
Thin PJs, 6 thin knickers and small socks, bikini, thin trousers, 2 pairs of shorts, 2 light dresses, leggings, thin top, thin shirt. Basic toiletries in mini bottles. Basic medicine. Small handbag with make up, passport, glasses, book. Put some stuff in coat pockets (two tshirts).

It’s fine. You can carry a small handbag and take a duty-free bag too. Mix and match outfits, kindle, magazine and toiletries from duty-free, good to go ✈️

It's definitely just one bag, no extra handbag

  • Small shampoo bar instead of shampoo and soap.
  • Small tube 8 hour cream for all moisturising
  • Tiny hairbrush, travel toothbrush and paste.
  • Make sure you’re booked into accommodation that provides towels.
  • 5 light pants 🩲
  • Few pairs socks 🧦
  • 4 light tees
  • spare trousers or skirt
  • bikini
  • Upload books and media to phone
  • Wear a pair of go anywhere shoes, trousers, top, sweater or hoodie, waterproof coat
  • Charging cable for phone and adapter

I don't think the underseat bag actually has any weight restrictions. . So it's only bulk that's the issue.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · Yesterday 22:54

Honestly, under seat is tiny and you can't also take a handbag. If you upgrade to the next level so you can take (smaller than standard) overhead as well, that would be far better.

CraftySeal · Yesterday 22:57

I'd probably take no toiletries at all and just buy shampoo, conditioner, soap, moisturizer, toothpaste at a supermarket once I was there.

Obviously wear as many layers as you can - you only need to actually wear them for boarding, you can take them off before/after.

Wear trainers, pack one pair sandals/flipflops.

My DS did 8 weeks in Europe amongst various countries with underseat bag

XebraFish · Yesterday 23:09

Can you just buy all your toiletries at the airport once you’re through? I did this once in Asia, did two weeks in Japan in April (cold!) hand luggage only so went through check in etc and then went to the pharmacy and bought all my products etc there.

Lumenade · Yesterday 23:09

If you hand wash underwear and bikinis you can take 3 of each (dr Beckmann handwashing soap sheets)

a pashmina and jacket on the plane as your evening layers

wear thicker top & trousers for journey along with sunhat and trainers

pack;
3 vest tops for day or night
2 shorts
1 skirt
2 dresses
1 playsuit
1 linen trousers
1 kaftan
1 thin pjs
1 evening sandal

smallest collection of toiletries / make up/jewellery you can manage - purchase when you’re there otherwise
kindle & headphones

Delphiniumandlupins · Yesterday 23:19

I don't bother with pjs when flying light, just wear that day's t-shirt to sleep in and wash frequently.

Beer3000 · Yesterday 23:22

I flew Easyjet with an under seat bag only a few weeks ago, for 2 nights away.

I had:

  • 1 pair thin trousers
  • 2 t-shirts
  • 1 shirt
  • 1 set pjs
  • pack-a-mac
  • undies and socks
  • tiny toiletries set
  • hair straighteners

And my exact maximum dimension easyjet underseat bag was full. I had to pull the compression straps and squeeze it to get it to fit into the box at the gate (they were checking).

I didn't take swimming stuff or makeup, as it was too much of a squeeze. I definitely wouldn't attempt longer!

What kind of holiday? City, beach, hike?

Beach is easy:
2x bikini
2x pants (you can wash in the sink)
1x sunscreen
3 dresses
Wear trousers and a top to the airport and trainers
Toothbrush and paste
Cleanser
Sandals
Book
Phone charger
Headphones

Done.

Honeyhonay · Yesterday 23:25

I just can’t imagine paying and making the effort to go on holiday and standing there washing my knickers in the sink multiple times in the week.
I mean, just why?
Why make it so miserable? Just pay for a bloody bag.

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · Yesterday 23:30

When flying wear a coat, jumper, cardigan, 5 t-shirts, leggings, jeans, 6 pairs of knickers (plus one to tie up your hair), five pairs of socks. It'll be uncomfortable but worth it.

following as this will be me in 2 months time ;-)

I did this. And Ryanair were checking!

It's hard to say without knowing where you're going, but I'd do -

Wear - trousers, socks, knickers, loose long-sleeved shirt top, cardio (ideally merino as wool doesn't hold smells so shouldn't need washing), coat, sunglasses, sunhat, shoes.

Pack - swimsuit, 3 x thin tops, 5 x underwear, 5 x socks unless hot enough not to need them, no pjs (sleep naked), two thin dresses (I have ones like this which fold to nothing https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/3238447451-diane-von-furstenberg-100-silk-dress-uk-size-4), passport, toothbrush, toothpaste, Kindle, phone charger, socket adapter, small water bottle.

Rolling the clothes worked better for me than folding.

Buy all toiletries in boots so you have a duty free bag for them.
