The colour teal - it is the work of the devil!!! I have no idea why this colour is so popular because it is just GROSS 🤮

watching Interior Design Masters last night and was like ‘Sophie Noooooooo’.

Im not sure why I find it quite so appalling!
No offence if you’ve decorated your house in teal, I’m no interior designer and my home is pretty average but …. Shudder

We just re-covered a completely clapped out and ripped up IKEA chaise longue with a teal sofa cover and I love it!

I like it dripped into a room that’s mostly moody browns/rust colours.. a tiny bit of teal just make it pop and gives it life.

the same with funky fun brightly decorated rooms with mustardy yellow, burnt orange and bright pinks, a tiny bit of teal really goes a long way.

never seen a teal while that I haven’t hated though.

I like teal, but as an accent colour.
As a wall colour it might look a bit Barclays Bank.

Me too. I have moonlight white walls in my living room with a grey sofa and chairs, but I have cushion covers with teal in them and also a rug and a small square oottoman. I think it looks nice, and visitors always comment on the rug in particular.

Isn’t dark green sometimes labelled as invisible green!?

My mum always used to say not to buy a green car as they are unlucky. But she also won’t pass on the stairs, salutes when she sees a magpie and plenty of other crazy stuff!

Completely disagree with you OP. I have teal in my ‘posh’ lounge. I have a couple of shades and it’s lovely - always complimented on too. Nice in day time but on a night, especially in winter with the right lighting, it’s gorgeous.
Actually I have teal in my downstairs loo too now I’m thinking about it 🤣

Oh! Could be, it was quite dark, a sort of forest green.

Who GAF what makes you "shudder"
People can decorate how they see fit in THEIR homes. Get a life or a job.

Oh my word I TOTALLY agree with you. I think all the ppl on here prob didn't see the programme; it was a particularly bad teal. My mum has a teal wall and it actually looks pretty cool, she has a recent Hockey print on it and it’s kind of beautiful. But I agree with you that teal was so bad. It was a bit… shiny?? I did think her grey brown bedroom was a beautiful colour though. Glad Leah won as thought hers was a lot more mature design wise. Sad Emily not in it though she had some super cool flashes of brilliance and would have been very exciting to see in the final!

Plumnora · 12/06/2026 23:20

I like it. Don't have it on any of my walls... and all I can say is, if you don't like it, don't paint your walls with it either....
