To use in your Airbnb and on the beach?

Where did I say that? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have a plan for one night - to sit at the beach, eating a pizza with a cocktail at sunset. Hardly sitting in the dark on the beach every night

So use headphones!!! Or, and here's a novel thought, listen to the waves and enjoy some peace, quiet and nature.

babasaclover · 07/06/2026 18:51

@itssoeasyplease not for the beach no one wants to hear it no matter how great YOU think your choice of music is. Beach should be peaceful.

do you really need one even for air B&B? Surely your phone on loud speaker is enough

One for the BnB does make sense - phone speakers are generally tinny, so either headphones or speakers are better - one person alone would generally use headphones/ one ear bud, but if she likes to have music playing while cooking, or in the living room in the evening or whatever then one for the BnB is fine.

Bringing it to the beach is antisocial and intrusive into other people's experience though.

Honestly, in a public place I don't mind people playing music.

It's unrealistic to expect perfect silence in a public place. If not music, then people talking, kids playing etc....

Big difference between music on a speaker and silence. There's the space in between the two which is where everyone can enjoy their surroundings.

BelleEpoque27 · 07/06/2026 18:57

Can you not just exist in silence for a bit? Why the desperate need for music? Listen to the waves and the seagulls, FFS.

I hear the waves everyday

Others might not. It's not all about you.

Because I feel like it’s dangerous to always have headphones on, especially when you’re alone on the beach in the evening.

Just wear one then.

FarmGirl78 · 07/06/2026 19:00

itssoeasy · 07/06/2026 18:37

I’m putting my side across, I am allowed to do that?

She said you weren't listening, not that you're not allowed an opinion.

Everyone is telling you that a playing music through a speaker on a beach is arsehole behaviour. Just because you think it's ok doesn't mean folk will agree with you. You've said you're not bothered. So be it. You're happy with pissing people off so why bother asking if you're being unreasonable?

Roomonthe3rdfloor · 07/06/2026 19:00

I personally don’t mind people playing music on the beach, I have found it gets drowned out, those little bluetooth speakers aren’t that loud. If you’re away from everyone else then I don’t see a problem. In the air bnb not a problem at all

Gastongaston · 07/06/2026 19:01

In accommodation yes, on the beach, no. Honestly op, if everyone thought like you, can you imagine how many different speakers would be playing different music, all at the same time? I have had that happen actually and it’s just shite. 4 or 5 different speakers all around me, all playing different music, it’s awful. Don’t be a dick.

Imaginingdragonsagain · 07/06/2026 19:01

I think you should wear headphones with music on the beach. Doesn’t sound like you’re really interested in opinions that diverge from yours though.

MrsBroccolini · 07/06/2026 19:02

OP you’re defending your position - but the fact you have to defend your position against so many people shows that your idea of what’s acceptable at the beach is not shared by many. Speaker at the beach / park just is a bit obnoxious. If not overcrowded it’s not the most egregious offence, but come on. Just don’t do it.

Namingbaba · 07/06/2026 19:02

Children can be noisy. It’s hard to keep them quiet. They’re part of society. Most people understand that. You’re choosing to play music when you don’t have to or you can use headphones.

pavillion1 · 07/06/2026 19:03

itssoeasy · 07/06/2026 18:24

I feel like the beach would be fine? It’s an open area, not like a train…

Ignores the room

Which beach? I have a plan to learn to play the bagpipes at sunset by the sea. We can make an evening of it!

Legoninjago1 · 07/06/2026 19:04

Headphones.

You hear the waves every day and don't think its a sound worth listening to.

Playing music through a speaker on the beach is common in your area.

You're planning to go to an Airbnb so you can sit on the beach and play music through a speaker whilst eating pizza.

Sounds like a Busman's holiday...

writingsonthewall · 07/06/2026 19:07

Arlanymor · 07/06/2026 18:18

Yes to the Airbnb, no to the beach, use headphones please, we don't all want to hear your music.

Yes to this

TheBloomingDahlia · 07/06/2026 19:07

No to the beach unless every bar is playing a different song so there’s already lots of music, or it’s literally deserted. If you are worried about safety get headphones that have a setting that amplifies background noises or just put one in. I get that you like other people’s music but most people don’t unless they’ve chosen to be in a place that they know will have music

BlackCat14 · 07/06/2026 19:07

Another classic case of…

OP: AIBU?
Everyone: Yes
OP: No I’m not!!!

HedgehogsOnTheWall · 07/06/2026 19:08

No, because I'm not an inconsiderate twat.

SwanSongSing · 07/06/2026 19:08

itssoeasy · 07/06/2026 18:55

I do hope everyone saying no doesn’t take their children to the beach, for them to be screaming and crying all over the place!

Yes, that's exactly the same thing

No ones addressing why you've asked about the Airbnb, why are you asking about that? Everyone knows you can listen to music indoors which makes me think you must be planning on doing something more that normal listening otherwise it's a totally redundant question

ChristmasCwtch · 07/06/2026 19:11

Massively unreasonable to inflict your music taste on strangers!! Use AirPods in public

MissAmbrosia · 07/06/2026 19:12

No - not acceptable at all in a public space. Keep your music to yourself.

itssoeasy · 07/06/2026 18:55

Honestly - if I could put my children in headphones, or indeed turn them down I absolutely would. For the benefit of me and everyone else. But they are people with individual rights to a life. Just like you were OP. It’s not remotely the same as an inconsiderate arsehole inflicting music on other people when they could just as easily limit their noise to headphones.
