To use in your Airbnb and on the beach?

OP posts:

I do hope everyone saying no doesn’t take their children to the beach, for them to be screaming and crying all over the place!

Bloody hell this is rude. Children existing vs obnoxiously intentionally inflicting your music choices on other people who want to be there for peace. Are you a parent op? I am a very audio-sensitive parent who is extremely sensitive to sound. Parenthood is loud. But you cannot turn children off. You cannot hear them through earbuds. They are humans, they make (a lot) of sound. Are you saying children should be banned from the beach? But some sod choosing to sit there blaring out their music from their phone in a public place. Urgh. Different and utterly unwelcome thing entirely.

Newstartplease24 · 07/06/2026 19:41

You sound very young, OP, with all that up talking.
it’s not ok to use speakers in public places. People who don’t live near the beach soend a lot of money and precious annual leave to get to one. They want to experience the beach, not your tinned music. You are literally ruining it for people who may be having their only holiday or day out - taking away the experience they hoped for, worked hard for, and replacing it with something stressful and unpleasant and all about you FOR LITERALLY NO REASON. Because YOU CAN LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC WITHOUT PLAYING IT TO THE BEACH.

this is not some subtle “oh what do we do when different interests conflict” question because THEY DONT CONFLICT. YOU CAN USE EAR BUDS

people who don’t - and I agree there are a lot more than there used to be - are utter selfish pricks.

there are so many beautiful plqces I can’t go any more because of this. There are more remote places I hope that have yet to be found by arseholes like you, but those easily accessible plqces where you could once just get a bit of relaxing outdoor space and fresh air are disappearing in TSK TISH TSK TISH TSK TISH TAK TISH

I feel like the beach would be fine? It’s an open area, not like a train…

A beach is selfish as fuck. The other week, we had to move several times due to selfish people with speakers. Your music is for you. Keep it to yourself!

Newstartplease24 · 07/06/2026 19:44

It’s ok for people not to mind - lucky them. But if you do mind, everything is fucked

anyone who knows any secret quiet swimming places please pm me and I promise I won’t tell a soul and will treat them well . ESP in lakes like Coniston water, where the once beautiful beach is now a hell hole

Just tell us where you’re going and when she everyone can avoid that beach!

MrMucker · 07/06/2026 19:47

You sound quite lonely, whether your question is genuine or not.
Sorry for you, it won't be for ever.

Beachtastic · 07/06/2026 19:50

itssoeasy · 07/06/2026 18:33

I mean I’m not that arsed? If I’m sat on the beach a way away from others and they have music on, it just makes me smile to see people having a good time? I’d not be blaring rap music, just some quiet Olivia dean or something

I'd rather stab my eyes out with a pin than listen to Olivia Dean on a beach. Each to their own, not judging your choice, but that's what headphones were invented for. If you're really scared of using them in case someone attacks you, why would you sit there playing music to draw attention to yourself?

Categorically NO
whatever you listen to , via whatever device- headphones please
NO MOTHER FUCKER WANTS TO LISTEN TO WHAT ANYONE ELSE IS LISTENING TO !!
As everybody on this thread will tell you

BlackCat14 · 07/06/2026 19:07

Another classic case of…

OP: AIBU?
Everyone: Yes
OP: No I’m not!!!

ya beat me to it

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/06/2026 19:51

Ok so you didn’t mean AIBU? You meant, “I’m going to do this regardless of whether or not everyone tells me that it’s annoying and anti-social, so there!”

Imanexcellentdrivercharliebabbit · 07/06/2026 19:53

itssoeasy · 07/06/2026 18:41

Firstly, it’s not shite.

Secondly, it’s really common for my area? You always get groups down at the beach at the weekend listening to music.

oh gosh is your music so not shite if only ‘you listen to the lyrics’
you are going to take the bloody thing onto the beach aren’t you …
sigh

Yerdug · 07/06/2026 19:54

No! NOT ON THE BEACH. No one else wants to hear your music, thanks.

ScreamingBeans · 07/06/2026 20:02

Seriously, how can you not know that it's spectacularly selfish to play music anywhere in public?

Can't stand selfish cunts who inflict their music on other unconsenting people. Even if I like the music, I don't want to hear it when I'm trying to enjoy the sea/ park or read my book.

BringBackCatsEyes · 07/06/2026 20:04

Why are you asking, OP?
You sound very confident in your decision.

MinglyMadly · 07/06/2026 20:04

User7649527 · 07/06/2026 18:36

Music on the beach, no. Please don’t. It’s so antisocial. I don’t want to hear any music at any volume from anyone else on the beach. No.

This. Beach absolutely not not at any volume. Its antisocial.

seriousandloyal · 07/06/2026 20:11

Antisocial and rough.

SliceofTosst · 07/06/2026 20:13

No. And anyway phones are loud enough without a speaker.

If you're that bothered about safety don't go on the beach after dark or just wear one earphone.

Ponderingwindow · 07/06/2026 20:14

Your amplified sound should not reach outside anyone who has not chosen to hear it.

people who bring speakers to the beach or the park are jerks.

Haddit · 07/06/2026 20:14

What age are you? You sound very immature and entitled. You’re going to do exactly what you want so why ask us?
Are you even going on holiday? Or just wanting a bit of attention?
Either way, probably time to grow up.

Sorry for you, it won't be for ever.

I'm no fan of the OP's antisocial choices but it's pretty patronising to suggest she's lonely because she's solo travelling.

SpudGunToo · 07/06/2026 20:17

itssoeasy · 07/06/2026 18:37

I’m putting my side across, I am allowed to do that?

You are, and you can also come back and have a cry when someone throws your speaker in the sea.

It depends on the country doesn’t it? Pretty common in some places.

Ophir · 07/06/2026 20:20

Yes. Of course.

Not for the beach though
