IPL machine. It was a bit of an expense but it has actually worked and completely worth it to stop me feeling so self conscious and also save me so much time not having to wax/epilate/cream.

Ooh I want one of these! Could share the one you purchased? Thanks x

@YonderlyYonderly and @Tryingtobegreenfingered I know I wasn’t the posters you were both querying but I’ve been using the Elf dewy setting spray (never used a setting spray before) and I find the results amazing. Not only is it nice and cooling on your face in the summer but I really think my make up looks better. Will experiment with other setting spray brand once I’m through with this one.

My bean to cup coffee machine
Robot Hoover
Robot lawnmower
Breadmaker

in that order ☺️

I have one if these also and it's brilliant. So far it has stopped my cat bringing in mice, rats, a grass snake, and a gammon rind, perhaps from neighbour's lunch....

Not the theme of the thread, I know, but the gammon rind made me laugh!

Has anyone found a decent non wire strapless bra? I'm being bombarded with ads for those bandeau bras that are apparently extra comfy and don't slip down or make you a weird shape, I'm very tempted.

SingtotheCat · 07/06/2026 13:59

A new, second hand car. A Golf. I always wanted one and made do with cheaper cars.
I have had an incredibly hard time these last few years but have also worked my arse off.
It makes me smile every time I start the car up.

Also- stainless steel cat trays. I've spent ££ on all sorts of plastic ones, these ones do not retain smells like.plastic eventually always does.

Litter tray liners were a game changer for us. It makes cleaning them so much easier.

Magnesium drink - I have tried healthy metal and trip - both are fabulous and have improved my ability to fall and stay asleep
Robot hoover mop- upgraded to the mopping one and it has halved my cleaning time

Which magnesium please? DH has horrible sleep patterns.

My backlit kindle. I'm a voracious reader and used to take loads of books on holiday; even paid for excess baggage a couple of times. The kindle battery lasts for 1-2 weeks, charges fast and holds hundreds of books. My sight is also going, so being able to change the font size is brilliant.

@GrrrrEnergy can I ask, what colour hair do you have and how long have you been using it?
I’ve just had ChatGPT give me the pros & cons. It seems it’s not a permanent solution, ongoing maintenance is required, and most people aren’t consistent because it’s a faff. The amount for sale on Vinted atm seems to back this up, but means I will at least be able to get one for a bargain. I’m just wondering if it will actually work on my really dark hair.
Tia.

I have pale skin and brown hair. The hair on my legs was particularly dark so I was a bit desperate after years of waxing not improving it at all. I think IPL works better on lighter skin with darker hair because it targets pigment. It's not been as effective on areas like my thigh where the hairs were very fair and fine but I have still seen a bit of improvement on my thigh, like slower growth etc. Been using it once a week for 14 weeks on the highest setting. At this point I'm supposed to only use it monthly but I'm scared to stop incase the hair does come back. But I don't actually need to shave any more. My reason for getting it was the thick dark hairs on my lower leg which are all now gone 🥳. I don't think it is a permanent solution but it's certainly given better results for me than waxing.

I bought the Phillips Lumea a few weeks ago and aren't sure it's working for me. I'm using it every 2 weeks, and think I've used it 4 times now but so far can't see any changes to the hair growth. How many times did you use it before the hair growth stopped?

I used mine once a week in the highest setting and the first 6 weeks I was so frustrated because it felt like it wasn't working and I'd just blown a few hundred quid on a very expensive gimmick. But a week later the hairs grew back at weird angles and I could pull them out without feeling it (as in they just slid out instead of plucked) and then after that the hairs slowly grew slower and sparser and then stopped coming back. Phillips and Braun might have different regimes they recommend. To be honest I've had some stubborn patches of hair so I did a week where I did it every night (which I don't recommend because you're not supposed to do that! 😬) and that sorted those patches out.

Braun IPL pro 5, it's regularly on sale, don't buy it full price 🤣

Bellyblueboy · 07/06/2026 14:20

Robot lawnmower - saves so much time a faff.

dock and bay towels - saved room in the suitcase

steamer - less time ironing

loppity · 07/06/2026 14:27

An electric weed burner ( I worry about the cat and weed killer)
a long-handled triangular gadget to get cobwebs off the ceiling and high places
not recently but a microchip enabled cat feeder. Keeps the flies away and got rid of unwelcome cat burglar who came in and ate any food going (and meandered upstairs)

Snag chub rub shorts

A snag bra… I got 2 and have been alternating washing and wearing. Wore an regular underwire bra the other day and wanted to cry 😂

Which one of their bras? I’m a 38E but droopy post babies. Bras are the bain of my life but also need to be supportive or they rub on my knees 😂

"Kind" Dopamine patches and some stress control patches. Genuinely have lifted my mood and motivated me to do things, only a week into using them daily. Usually work really stresses me and my body feels anxious by the end of day but this week I've felt actually ok and I do think they've had something to do with it!

Ooh! This is interesting!

To all those asking about rice cookers. I’ve had my Russell Hobbs multi cooker for years (in actual fact I’ve had 2 over the years) the sudden hype on TikTok about them has amused me no end. It’s the best investment I’ve ever made kitchen wise. It’s 8 in 1 - Sear, Roast, Sous Vide, Slow Cook, Steam, Rice cooker, Boil and Keep Warm. Cooks perfect rice every time with no effort. Use it as a slow cooker - auto switches over to keep warm if you’re not home yet when the time ends. It’s later enough to roast a whole chicken in and it’s cooked to table - you unplug it and take it to the table to serve from. Don’t need loads of different appliances. Also it’s dishwasher proof, it’s an absolute game changer.

This sounds amazing. I've been toying with a rice cooker but it needs to earn it's keep! Do you know what model you have? How many portions does it do? Thanks ❤️

Three new maxi dresses (that’s what I usually wear) as I’ve gone from a size 28 to 22-24! So proud of myself and today I’m wearing black with big pink polka dots! Plus a few weeks ago I bought leggings to wear under a black dress - never thought I’d wear leggings!

So I suppose my best purchase has been the mounjaro WLIs I’ve been taking! 5 stone down!

TheBarberaGoodLife · 07/06/2026 14:52

Also. Fussy deodorant. Perimenopausal me was smelly and sweaty all the time with all antiperspirants and deodorants no matter the brand despite never being that way ever and using sure for years. I no longer smell ever despite the hot flushes and no longer have itchy, dry pits

Coverless duvets for the children

weighted blanket for my adhd husband

Cupboard drying rack - godsend

stair basket for anything that needs to be taken upstairs (usually hair bobbles and little toys or doll shoes) all go in on one swoop

cordless vacuum- game changer if you haven’t got one

dewy setting spray for my make up - looking like I have glass skin all year around

scented tumble dryer sheets in sofa cushions

silk sheets

fountain pen - my writing looks all fancy

face tan drops

my mum keeps going on about her slide on sketchers

fairy liquid there is just no other brand that works the way it does

Coverless duvets for the kids was a game changer for us too. Less to to make up but also what on earth do children do in the night? Always bundling up the duvet in the cover somehow.
