I got a device for my cat flap that locks the flap when it detects my cats have prey in their mouth. Best purchase ever (although not cheap)

What if it just has a chicken drumstick in its mouth?

in answer to your query, also @ForeverTheOptomist and @Duchesscheshire
ZeroMouse will detect anything which isn't the usual shape of the cat's face / mouth / head. It did once block my cat from coming in because he had a large stick in his mouth - different shape. So live or dead prey.

I know there are a few different makes on the market, I bought my ZeroMouse last August and it worked absolutely brilliantly - syncs to an app on my phone. It is a little matchbox size thing which you have to fit to the outer part of your catflap and it needs a power socket nearby (we have one close to the cat door).

There is some sort of money back guarantee so I bought one, thinking if it's rubbish, I'll just get a refund. Worked fine from day 1.

No I promise I'm not on commission !

Many thanks. I'll save up!

A Thermomix. I pondered for ages because of the cost, but it’s possibly the best thing I’ve ever purchased.

Same concept but a different brand - a Magimix Cook Expert.
It's transformed our eating habits and made life a lot easier. We'd also spent a long time pondering it because of the cost, but it's been one of our best decisions.
Favoured the Magimix version because you can see into the bowl while cooking (transparent lid).

Delonghi coffee machine..Use 3 times a day. Save so much.

Two New Cross stitch kits. No big spend items, but these give me pleasure.

MarthaBerry · 07/06/2026 12:48

@GrrrrEnergy can I ask, what colour hair do you have and how long have you been using it?
I’ve just had ChatGPT give me the pros & cons. It seems it’s not a permanent solution, ongoing maintenance is required, and most people aren’t consistent because it’s a faff. The amount for sale on Vinted atm seems to back this up, but means I will at least be able to get one for a bargain. I’m just wondering if it will actually work on my really dark hair.
Tia.

Hope you don't mind me answering but I have one and have been very impressed with it. My sister and I bought one at the same time but whereas her's stayed pretty much in the cupboard, mine is used weekly (except summer months) so the results are clear between us 😂

I am pretty much hair free on legs and underarm and basic bikini line.

What I will say is aside from the purchase, the use requires investment. It isn't a miracle worker if its barely used - which I suspect answers for so many of them for sale on vinted.

They work the most effectively on darker hair though.

Skincare fridge and a handheld clothes steamer!

Yup doesn’t matter what it is. Occasionally I get “inconclusive”, usually when they put a paw up but if in doubt it locks anyway.

Yoyokitten · 07/06/2026 13:05

Simple I know, but a new garden hose !
I inherited an old Hoselock system 20 years ago from my in laws.It was already 10 years old then. The winding handle has broken so i cut my hand on it all the time, it leaks and has a bad kink in the middle.
So frustrating.
Went on Amazon and got a new retractable hose.
It's brilliant and even comes with a hook to loop the hose on.
So simple.I love watering the garden now.Should have done it years ago .

Harry Styles tickets x3. Cost a fortune and I don’t care. 😍

Hamela · 07/06/2026 13:14

Also- stainless steel cat trays. I've spent ££ on all sorts of plastic ones, these ones do not retain smells like.plastic eventually always does.

IPL machine. It was a bit of an expense but it has actually worked and completely worth it to stop me feeling so self conscious and also save me so much time not having to wax/epilate/cream.

I bought the Phillips Lumea a few weeks ago and aren't sure it's working for me. I'm using it every 2 weeks, and think I've used it 4 times now but so far can't see any changes to the hair growth. How many times did you use it before the hair growth stopped?

LadyVioletBridgerton · 07/06/2026 13:21
  1. Decent seats at the theatre. Stalls, centre aisle, approx 6-10 rows from the front.
  2. Lurpack.
  3. Disneyworld Holidays and staying onsite.
  4. Prep Kitchen. I’ve lost nearly a stone and my husband has lost two stone so far.
  5. Decent mattress. Ours is a superking and has got something like 1800 springs. It’s lovely and I always have to say hello to it when we get home from holiday.
  6. Recliner sofa.
  7. Air conditioning for our bedroom and office
Purplebunnie · 07/06/2026 13:22

Veg trug to grow our own food bought yesterday

Still waiting for it to be put together but I have countless packets of lettuce, spring onion and radish seeds.

Teached · 07/06/2026 13:25

Beast bin bags are bloody amazing.

Sgtmajormummy · 07/06/2026 13:26

A Denman curly hairbrush for DD.
She has lovely thick wavy hair (not from me, unfortunately) that she’s tried any number of hair care products on, and they keep bringing out new ones.
I saw a video of someone air-drying from sopping wet after a brush through and getting natural curls. Worth a try for £13.
It's her holy grail, and no sticky product residue!

An air con unit
And these neck cooler things that you put in the freezer

I don't get on with snag tights, I don't understand the love for them. Mine tore in seconds. I also got persuaded by those shorts they sell to wear under skirts and I don't get the appeal they just made me horribly hot and sweaty

Edited

I didn’t like them either. I can recommend the shorts from the big bloomer company as they are moisture wicking and keep you 1 degree cooler under dresses/skirts.

I’ve got the Lakeland multicooker as my rice cooker

It is small but it does four portions of rice. It’s also a slow cooker so I can use it for small things like rice pudding, small stew, veggie accompaniments or just use it to keep things like mash warm.

it keeps your rice warm for 4 hours. So I use it on club nights when we are all eating at different times. So the main thing in the slow cooker and the carb in the mini one.

oh I vote for that multicooker! light, easy to clean and compact size. If they made spare inner pans for it it would be perfect

A little pack of bra extenders. They give me an extra 2cm in the band which is the difference between comfort and discomfort. The next size up is just a bit too big. Best fiver spent for a long time.

Me too!!!

It’s a really good quality pan as well isn’t it. So much better than the ninja one I’ve got for the big multicooker
