I'll go:

"The Fat Labrador"

or simply The Fat Lab

I would be known for serving generous portions and puddings would swim in custard.

There's a micro pub called 'The Handsome Sam' in Whitstable accompanied with a pub sign of a beautiful tuxedo cat - I've never been in, but I'm lured by the signage..

I have a selection:
The Gallifrey (niche) (sign is gallifreyan for 'pub')
The Pankhurst Arms (sign is Emmeline, Christabel, Sylvia and Adele in the Queen bohemian rhapsody formation)
The Bedknob and Broomstick (Angela Lansbury with a raised eyebrow)

I thought of the Handsome Sam too!

My dd1 and her dp want to open a bar and call it “Cahoots”. So when people are arranging to meet up they can say “come and meet us. We’re in Cahoots”!

It already exists and it's fabulous. I love to be in Cahoots!

So when you train as a vet you get given a dog to dissect to learn anatomy. The dog lasts about six months as it's preserved but does get gradually juicier as time goes on...

I knew I shouldn’t ask. It was obvious. And yet I did anyway. More fool me.

The Duckworth Lewis. It would be cricket themed with guest beers from each Test playing nation on rotation.

The menu would be set out as:
Openers (starters)
Middle Order (mains)
Extras (side dishes)
Tailenders (desserts)

Oooh! I'd go for
The Leather & Willow
The Fair Delivery
The Drinks Interval
The Good Allrounder

LarksAscending · 28/05/2026 19:53

For mine I’d probably try and go quite whimsical because they’re the ones that stick with me - like The Cold Moon on Water, The Drifting Boat (if Oceanside), or The North Star.

Been in the Handsome Sam, a lovely quiet pub.
I think The Snooty Fox is a great name for a pub. Think there's one somewhere in Yorkshire

Eeyorefan · 28/05/2026 20:11

The rat and triangle… because why should pigs and whistles get all the fame?

likelysuspect · 28/05/2026 20:22

The Mousetrap

But Ive always liked the Winchester. And then I would change my name to Dave by deedpoll

I know The Snooty Fox well!

The Plop and Dollop

ObelixtheGaul · 28/05/2026 20:59

Dogs are over-represented in pub names. So I'd balance things up with:

The Cat in a Box (think Dr Seuss's family would sue if I tried Cat in the Hat)
The Cat and the Rat (giving the duck a day off, too)
The Cat's Whiskers
The Cat Flap
The Cat's Nip.

I once went to The Sunburnt Arms on a holiday, I liked that.
Maybe a version of that, The Open Arms?

The Finger Inn.

😂

mine would be 'The big jugs'.

LlynTegid · 28/05/2026 21:06

I would keep the name it had, unless there had been a recent renaming. I view pub names as something that should be viewed in the same way as street names.
