To think that Tom Hardy is a misogynist?

mumofoneAloneandwell · 26/05/2026 15:39

He's been fired from Mobland for being hard to work with

Apparently he's been like this on other sets and seems to enjoy intimidating women, with Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron being named

I reckon he gives misogynist vibes and no longer find him sexy 😒😒

Separation from his wife? He’s just been pictured on holiday with her in the Caribbean looking very happy and loved up.

Wait and see....

Helen Mirren was godawful in Mobland, as was Pierce Brosnan. The accents 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Only watched if for Tom Hardy!

The Helen Mirren "Oirish" accent was awful.

I don’t care. I just like the thought of him in my bed!

Uricon2 · 27/05/2026 11:45

I've liked him in some roles. I don't think stardom and dickishness automatically go together. Paul Newman was renowned to be very easy to work with and a team player with all on set, throughout a very long career.

There is a story about Clark Gable repeatedly being kept waiting by Marilyn Monroe who was sadly all over the place, while filming The Misfits in burning sun and heat. People were outraged and his response was apparently "Leave the kid alone, she's alright", he was genuinely protective of her. He was very ill and died 12 days after it wrapped.

Everyone has bad days and bad times and while it's possible that TH is consistently unprofessional and difficult, it's also possible this is atypical. Time will tell.

MarmiteMakesMeHappy · 27/05/2026 15:50

I find HM smug, self-righteous and a bit shit nowadays.

She peaked in Prime Suspect and has really not really bettered her acting since Jane Tennison, but for some reason she is treated like she's up there with Judy Dench and the late Maggie Smith.

I admire her determination that you can still be sexy and whaatever age she is, but that's about it. I imagine her lovie-ness is off the scale.

TheDameHelenShiteingMirren · 27/05/2026 16:18

Good grief, this is unbearable 😱

Edited to add: I speak very well of you Marmite!

I don’t t think men not acting well around women means they are gay …

Quite the reverse usually. The gay men I know and have known treated women better than many of their heterosexual counterparts.

LeedsLoiner · 27/05/2026 16:42

You are not unreasonable to think that Tom Hardy is a misogynist - you are however unreasonable to think it because of what you've read in media gossip and tittle tattle.

If you see him in clips of interviews and press conferences he is anything but. He calls out sexism and mysogyny. He has no tolerance to small minded questions.

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 28/05/2026 04:40

SereneFinch · 26/05/2026 15:49

Not sure about misogynist - the complaints seem to be about lateness and arrogance, not poor treatment of women specifically.

Maybe not a.misogynist after all.But rude and a bit entitled. Can stand persistent lateness. Shows a lack of respect.

Everyone is now backtracking on this. Production say he’s not been fired and Helen Mirren posted a picture of him on her Instagram saying she loves him now and always 😆

Is OP going to find him hot again , now? 😬

Oh a story about a celeb in the papers, well it must be true then. 🙄

He was brilliant in Taboo - still sad that only got one series.
i think it’s hard to know from that report - I suspect he’s not the easiest to work with but that doesn’t necessarily mean misogyny .I can imagine Helen Mirren plus Pierce Brosnan being an irritatingly luvvie combination. He sounds quite reflective and honest over the issues filming Mad Max.
He certainly doesn’t sound like he has Jared Leto levels of method acting sociopathy but that’s a low bar to set!

I've never found him a heart throb but he was SUPERB in Taboo - excellent TV. FWIW I saw a clip of a video interview he did, from last year I think, still expressing intention to do a season 2... we can live in hope!

Sadly not 😄

I do wonder what has happened though

Has his star power trumped hers?

No. How could it? She’s got a 60 year career behind her. I saw her play Ophelia at Stratford when I was 17 - 55 years ago. She was breathtakingly good and she’s just got better and better.

IdentifyingAsAWoollyMammoth · 30/05/2026 11:05

Christ alive, the bollocks being trawled out on here.

I work in theatre but have friends in the film industry. As a result, I have met Tom three times but am close friends with one of his close friends whom he has worked with on several films. She is female. She agrees he has kept people waiting but absolutely not misogynistic. The fact he has some close female friends who've known him since before he was famous tends to back that up.

Yes, he can be difficult to work with. He himself admits that.

As an exec producer on Mobland he is able/entitled to have a say in scripts. It's why so many actors now are executive producers (look at the credits on some films but especially a lot of US shows; the leads are almost always execs too).

People automatically believing the Hollywood Reporter and the like are idiots. They exist only by making stuff up when there's not much going on.

In my encounters with him he was perfectly pleasant and surprisingly normal compared to many I've met. His wife is lovely.

I mean, they tried to fire him and then she got branded an anti Palestinian and was trolled or cancelled online

Now hes back

🤔
