Really? She lived with this guy and didn't know? She had a camper van parked on the drive and didn't know he stole the money to buy it?

I don't buy it.

2 Dyson hair dryers? He doesn’t even need 1!

ByGraptharsHammer · 25/05/2026 22:05

Neutrogena hand cream? Now that is pathetic.

ScruffMuffin · 25/05/2026 22:09

Of course she knew. And tried to distance herself from the situation before the shit hit the fan.

She was investigated, as part of the 5 year long Operation Branchform.

Investigated, Arrested, questioned at length, released without charge, informed in March 2025 she was no longer considered to be of any relevance to the investigation.

But naw, some random mumsnetters know better than Police Scotland who spent 5 years, millions of pounds, thousands of man hours, and turned the family home and SNP HQ upside down looking for evidence.

It would be amusing if it wasn't just prototypical mumsnet and entirely predictable.

It reaches my standard of proof. She’s a chancing nyaff.

StrictlyCoffee · 25/05/2026 22:10

They weren’t just married, she was the leader of the party he was CEO of! Seems unbelievable she wouldn’t at least have questioned stuff like the cars and campervan.

A woke, self righteous leftie taking the piss. What’s new?

The further to the left a politician is, the deeper they have their nose in the trough.

See also:

Len McClusky, Unite union boss and a comrade to the working classes, who spent over £100m on a hotel project, with the union layer wiping £66m from its accounts. Workers’ subs spent well, then. Serious fraud office is investigating.

Labour first minister of Wales resigning over donations.

Starmers’s minister of anti corruption no less, done for corruption in Bangladesh. You couldn’t make this shit up.

Another Scottish one. Swinney is currently cheerleading for lord advocate who is defending claims of being a wrong ‘un.

Then there’s the blatant stealing and tax fraud by the likes of Angela Rayner. That would be big Ange who dodged stamp duty, while serving as a….wait for it….housing minister. Again, you couldn’t make this shit up.

Walter Titty was recently found to have fished council tax on his house boat also. Clearly, lying and claiming to be a boob hypnotist or that he worked for ministry of justice wasn’t exciting enough.

The further to the left these jokers are, and the more ‘progressive’ they are, the more likely the are to be corrupt.

Edited

I'm pretty sure the Bangladesh corruption is a trumped up charge. She has never even been told what she's meant to have done that was supposed to have been corrupt in order to mount a defense against it.

AgnesMcDoo · 25/05/2026 22:12

I hate sturgeon but…

the camper van was parked at his mothers house in a different city

she was a bit busy being FM so it’s possible she actually didn’t notice

Why would somebody buy a camper van and hide it from their spouse so they could never use it? Hiding it from cameras etc makes more sense

Why would it be a trumped up charge. Her aunt is up to her neck in corruption. Is it a trumped up charge because it’s Bangladesh. I thought the left were supposed to be open minded and internationalists. But only when it suits?

ruffler45 · 25/05/2026 22:25

How come he got away with it over 10+ years ?

It took party donors to spot their missing money?

Pacificsunshine · 25/05/2026 22:25

Surely the First Minister of Scotland can afford all the hand cream she needs, even stretch to a camper van. I don’t understand why this fraud was necessary.

OneTealShaker · 25/05/2026 22:26

Doesn’t this look like she tried to cover it up. Why would she try and stop party workers from reporting dodgy goings on.

Disgusting.

Some of the money was spent at Homebase in Dunfermline...presumably he's been using the party credit card or whatever to buy items for his mum (who lives in Dunfermline).

This isn’t even clever! Imagine going to Homebase for your mum and then committing fraud to do it. He wants his head examined

Ottersideofthebridge · 25/05/2026 22:30

Going to go against the grain here and say I wouldn't know if DH had £400k stashed in his own account. Obviously I'd notice the motor home, but I am assuming he had a large salary of his own and if he wanted to splash out, he could do it without suspicion.

Ignoring the domestic stuff, around which I’m sure there’s enough plausible deniability to make it hard to press charges, what about at a party level? She was the Leader of the SNP; did it not occur to her to wonder why the auditors resigned? And when they did, perhaps ask a few questions. Carry out an internal review? What about governance? Who was signing of his credit card expenses? I think it’s reasonable to expect even an averagely competent party leader to have been asking those sorts of questions for years…

Yes but think about the hand cream. Could your husband be fraudulently obtaining softer hands on the public purse?

Translates as….. I don’t like what I’ve read so I’m going to say I don’t like who said it.

Most people have made their minds up on this one. We know what happened.

The journalist that first flagged it doesn’t get enough praise imo.

and the focus on Nicola sturgeon being leader and knowing or not knowing is allowing the fact it was going on for years before she was leader to be lost.

He’d been thriving since at least 2010 - just a couple of years after the SNP first got into government.

Unless he was some criminal mastermind buying advent calendars and hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of shit unnoticed then NS is far from the only person with questions to answer about knowledge

OonaStubbs · 25/05/2026 22:33

“It was all Mr Murrell. He would do it," urged Ms. Sturgeon; first looking round, to ascertain that her partner had left the room.

That is no excuse," returned Judge Lord Young. "You were present on the occasion of the purchase of that luxury motor-home, those two cars, the jewellery, cosmetics and sundry luxury goods, and, indeed, are the more guilty of the two, in the eye of the law; for the law supposes that your husband acts under your direction."

If the law supposes that," said Ms. Sturgeon, squeezing her hat emphatically in both hands, "the law is a ass,"
