Nicola Sturgeon didn't know her husband stole £400,000

Really? She lived with this guy and didn't know? She had a camper van parked on the drive and didn't know he stole the money to buy it?

I don't buy it.

Kindly, she never had any power that would engage world politics.

The problem with this argument is that Sturgeon was ultimately responsible for signing off on the SNP accounts. In fact, as a solicitor she has formal training on this so cannot plead ignorance.

How could she not notice a 600K deficit?

Why did her husband bung in 100K?

Why did she ignore warnings from others who refused to sign off the accounts?

Why did she not notice the camper van on the books and go WTF?

Why did she front a campaign for ring fenced money but not understand that money disappearing is the opposite of ring fencing?

How does she account for the additional 200K missing?

Why did she tell the public she was fully transparent with the police but it transpired that she refused to answer their questions for several hours?

Where is the written report she claimed to send to the police?

These are just some of the questions Sturgeon seems to have no memory of or knowledge about. And yet she was competent to lead a country?

Sorry but the whole thing stinks and she needs to face trial otherwise Scotland’s whole political and legal system becomes a bigger joke than it already is.

She spent a lot of lockdown bashing Boris Johnson but it turns out she’s a bigger chancer than he is. He’s an amateur in comparison to Sturgeon.

Oh I know that.

But she didn't appear to know that. It seemed as if she truly thought that when she stepped down as FM, the UNHCR or World Bank would be straight on the phone.

It was just the right level of authentic, vulnerable and believable, I reckon you must have taken tips from AMW’s iconic interview. Did you avail yourself of luncheon at the nearest Pizza Express straight afterwards?

ByGraptharsHammer · 31/05/2026 21:20

I reckon more likely she called the World Bank to see if they had some spare poonds for her

I bet a bank did give her a call or two, but not from recruitment...

I wouldn’t wish Isla Bryson on anyone but there would be a certain poetic justice to it wouldn’t there

Actually she’s a no mark failure isn’t she? I imagine she’s been pitching for a serious political job for years. Given her nationalism, lack of contacts and influence with the British Government that she spent her time alienating, no international entity will be interested, still less anyone in Westminster which she spent her career publicly disparaging. Getting these jobs means showing you can build relationships not destroy them

I can see her being successful with the likes of Catalonia and Greenland but not many beyond that..

Sorry, but I disagree. I thought the motor home was not parked at theirs. The rest of the stuff - well, I’ve had this convo with DH when he said how on earth did she not know, and reminded him that he buys stuff without telling me and I have no idea how much it cost. He has a 3D printer in the shed - how much did that cost? I’ve no idea. Years ago he bought a video camera - I had no idea how much that cost either. Nor his electric guitars.

I don’t know what particular brands of watches or coffee makers cost. Unless a watch is a Rolex I wouldn’t know if it is expensive. Apparently some of the stuff was just very expensive versions of mundane items - I genuinely wouldn’t have noticed how much that amounted to in ££ terms, and I’m not a party leader, presumably very busy.

The bigger question is who didn’t spot that money was disappearing from party accounts. That’s the problem. How was that hidden? Did he fabricate receipts to cover up the expenditure?

Agree with this. I wouldn't know how much a coffee machine might cost. And I wouldn't recognise that a pencil sharpener was an expensive version

But where were the auditors? Why didn't they spot this?

I agree bar the campervan but I suppose if that was the only purchase that aroused suspicion it was 1 item that could conceivably be put down to just quite an extravagant purchase.

This however is fact: ‘On 20 March 2021, three members of the SNP's Finance and Audit Committee, Cllr Frank Ross, Cynthia Guthrie and Allison Graham, resigned over a lack of access to party accounts.’

So I wouldn’t be too quick to blame those supposed to be auditing. It seems there was some kind of top down thing preventing them from accessing the accounts.

🤣

They walked out and said they couldn't finish the audit due to anomalies and she never thought that raised any alarm bells. She was head of the organisation, this is on her. No CEO of a public company could claim innocence in these circumstances.

She either knew it or she damned well should have done.

Yes and just think what discussions were had before they reached that conclusion.
Most companies would support the auditors and help them dig until they were happy they were presenting the correct figures.
