DH tagging me in a FB post that my customers can see

I'm hopping mad right now! My DH is off today (his first day off in a week) and he's having a lovely day in the garden. He just cracked open a cider, took a photo and posted it to FB, tagging me, basically saying that "we" are in the garden drinking cider.

I am not! I am inside working. I am friends on FB with my clients who I am working for right now. They will have seen the post. I've taken it down now. I am so mad at him! I was going to join him after I finish for the day, but I'm now sitting inside seething at his stupidity. I feel like just sacking our evening plans off entirely.

How could he be so silly?

Together?

Ah yes, that makes sense. Thanks 👍🏻

awfulapril · 25/05/2026 17:44

Agree with @ScupperedbytheSea

awfulapril · 25/05/2026 17:44

Also Facebook. Naff

Wow…. Living with you must be akin to walking on egg shells!

Why?

Because I wouldn’t stand for my DP lying about me on SM?

Or because I see WFH jobs just as important as those not WFH?

Either your DH lies about you on FB and you’re fine with it or you see WFH as not a proper job.

tiramisugelato · 25/05/2026 17:45

Jellox · 25/05/2026 17:36

I would be so pissed off!

Just because you WFH doesn’t mean your job is not just as important as his.

Imagine him going to a conference for work and you tagging him saying he’s actually in the pub.

It’s completely unacceptable.
I don’t know why posters are trying to put the blame on you for not changing your settings.
They must be in marriages where their DHs lie or embarrass them regularly but most couples aren’t like that.

What are you talking about?

OP’s clients shouldn’t be able to see her social media. I’m self employed and very few of mine can see my private page - those that can have it heavily restricted.

Daftypants · 25/05/2026 17:47

yes I’d change privacy settings so that you can review anything you’ve been tagged in .
And decide whether it’s appropriate for your timeline or not

Because you come across very very hot and bothered about this really rather mild incident

I am single 😊

So OP is in the wrong for letting her clients see her page but DH is not in the wrong for completely lying knowing that she’s actually working….ok 🤔

OP has said she’s friends with some of her clients, which is why they’re on her personal page.

If OP has clients that are friends - that’s ok.
I know loads of builders etc that will do jobs for their friends.

What is no ok, is DH lying about her not working when she is.

saltandvine · 25/05/2026 17:52

All you had to do was comment underneath ‘Its alright for some - I’m indoors working!’

Liznug · 25/05/2026 17:53

Would you have hit the roof and refused to talk to him when you got home @Jellox ?

or would you have gone for shouting and raging instead?

You call your DP lying about you mild?

Wow.

So if your employer paid for you to attend a conference which you were genuinely at but your (ex) DP said that you weren’t there and you were actually in the pub, you would seriously think that’s mild?

I think you need to direct a fan on you.
And maybe just take some long deep breaths

Oh come on he was hardly lying - he just tagged her in a post 🙄

I tag people in things all the time - doesn’t mean it’s “live” or that they’re actually with me at the time either.

I think you need to raise your bar in men.

Someone lying about you, especially in front of your clients or boss, potentially affecting your income, is a massive deal.

I’m glad you’re single as it sounds like you let people walk all over you.

@Jellox sounds terrifying

frighten us by telling how you’d respond @Jellox

I am imagining the neighbours calling the police!

icouldholditwithacobweb · 25/05/2026 17:56

You're overthinking it, if I saw any of my hires posting that I wouldn't care so long as their work was getting done! I'd only raise my eyebrows if they failed to deliver on something I was expecting.

Delphiniumandlupins · 25/05/2026 17:56

You have overreacted. You could have commented "I wish. Still busy working" or similar. Although, you're not concentrating too much on work if you're checking FB notifications.

But she was working and he claimed she wasn’t - aka he was lying.

He knew she was working and he knew her clients were friends on FB.

Do you also have the word mug written across your forehead?

Perhaps spend less time on FB and more time raising your bar off the floor.

FieryA · 25/05/2026 17:58

Quite an unnecessary reaction on your part. Are your clients following your every moment to check whether or not you are doing their work? That's an odd assumption. You seem a bit paranoid about nothing.

Get technical savvy if you have any aspects of your business on social media.

It is not anyone else's responsibility to censor your social media feed.

Either sort out your security settings or create a business only facebook page.

Arlanymor · 25/05/2026 18:00

Don't share your personal page with clients, set up a separate business page that only you can post it. Social media 101 for business...

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 25/05/2026 18:00

Calm down Jellox. He only tagged her, he didn't say she was neglecting her job and getting bladdered in the garden with him.
