I work in a Nice gastropub.

Last night a couple came in for a booked table. The booking notes had asked for sit on the edge of the main section of the restaurant. This isn't uncommon as we have live music on a Friday and it's a good viewing spot. It's a lively pub and busy restaurant.

They were in my section and I welcomed them, got chatting and they told me they we out to celebrate their 4 month anniversary. Champagne was ordered. A pleasant, attractive young couple having a lovely night out.

Then the mood changed a bit; the woman went to the loo and the man played with his phone while she did do.

When she came back he moved his phone to his lap and started to mess with it surreptitiously under the table.

It was so freaking obvious what was going on; her face became animated and she started squirming.

I went back to clear their starter dish and offered more drinks, just doing my job, but they were obviously observing me to see if I noticed.

I went down the civil professional and verging on brusque approach to them fro that point and tried to speed them through the meal to get them off the table quickly.

All the other servers that night were a level students and I wasn't going to expose them to that so I took full ownership of the table.

Grim fuckers Do some people have no shame?

I bet he caught a shiny Pokemon and he said he'd trade it with her, that always makes me squirm with excitement.

I had to read through twice to get it 😅

She had a vibrator inside her and he was controlling it from his phone?

Eww for you having to serve them 🤢🤢😄😄

💐 yanbu x

I thought they were going to proposition you for a 3some!

😳😳 Thankyou for explaining - now I wish I didn’t know 😳😳🤣🤣🤣

sunnybaros · 17/05/2026 16:18

You should have asked her loudly if she was having a stroke - dirty mare.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 17/05/2026 16:19

I’ve heard of this but never seen it (thankfully). The things some people do to get off in public though. Honestly.

OonaStubbs · 17/05/2026 16:27

You should have gone over and shocked her with the defibrillator paddles.

Lmnop22 · 17/05/2026 16:29

Not the point but who the fuck orders champagne for their 4 month anniversary?!

MumsTheWordYouKnow · 17/05/2026 16:41

I had no clue what you meant, but now I understand straight ban I’d have thought.

OchreReader · 16/05/2026 17:31

I must be quite naive. I thought she’d gone to the toilet to remove her knickers and he was taking photos under the table. A vibrator controlled by a phone would never have occurred to me. Didn’t know there was such a thing 🙈

This is what I thought too. Even that was quite ewww.

I was hoping someone else would notice this! Are people's attention spans so short now that 4 months is worth celebrating?! 😂

SparkyBlue · 17/05/2026 17:07

That’s disgusting. What if the person serving them was only a teenager ?

And who the Hell has a four month anniversary in the first place...?
😂

Justamum36 · 17/05/2026 19:38

No, you are not being unreasonable. This is clearly a type of sexual harassment as far as I’m concerned. I would’ve refused to serve the table and told a manager who should have asked them to leave. It was involving you without your consent and you have every right to be upset about it.

PistachioTiramisu · 16/05/2026 14:28

Sorry, I really haven't a clue what they were doing (not joking).

Neither have I.

DancingLions · 17/05/2026 20:21

I watched a few seasons of MAFS and one of the couples did this at one of the dinner parties and all the other couples and even the "experts" were laughing and congratulating them for "spicing up" their sex life!!!

I was absolutely gobsmacked. To me it was in no way acceptable and I would be absolutely fuming if someone did that in my presence. But clearly plenty of people think its ok.

Sometimes I think the way things are going people will soon just have sex in the street and if you say anything you'll be accused of "shaming" them 🙄

Mumandcarer80 · 17/05/2026 20:32

Well at least they never had their hands in each other’s pants.😳🖕😳

They were using a vibrator called love eggs. They've been around for years. Back in the 80s and 90s it was funny. I've heard lots of stories about couples doing it. But that was 30 years ago and times have changed.

I must be really naive but how the fuck did you know that’s what they were doing? I would have no idea that people do that.

Paraphilia.

I’ll now slip it into conversations

Nope 😂

Plumnora · 17/05/2026 22:25

Grim indeed.
Never ceases to amaze me some couples think other people will be as turned on by their sex lives as they are. Used to know a couple who would tell anybody about their shenanigans in their favourite BDSM club (and at home).
This, however, is gross and probably something they do regularly in different places. Definitely ban them and maybe warn other businesses too.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/05/2026 22:57

That would have gone completely over my head!

Usernamenotav · 18/05/2026 07:43

NoisyMonster678 · 16/05/2026 15:22

You need to bann him OP. It may not have been the womans fault but he is gross and if it had offended other customers it may cost the buisness some reputational damage.

What do you mean may not have been the woman's fault? Why should only he been banned?
