The truth shall set you free

My grandma always told me to get the best education I can and the best paid job I can, so that I can always be financially independent and always have a stash of cash for a rainy day. I didn’t fully understand and appreciate it then, now I do.

My mum alwas told me to keep something just for me outside of being a parent, a little piece of me to come back to when I feel lost and drowning: a hobby, a job I love, something new I’m learning. She was also right.

Smaller piece of advice I got from a friend many years ago: “Just apply for the bloody job. It is the recruiter’s job, not yours, to decide if you’re suitable”. My best career moves have been from applications where I believed to be a 70% match at best.

Keep your own life when you have children

Don't eat the green wobbly bit.

It doesn't have to be perfect to be a success.
