Then judge away - you'll be a mile away and you'll have their shoes! Wink

😂 good one!

Great thread. So much to think about and apply to your life. 😊

I want to say something profound but what's stuck in my head is my grandmother saying always use a bigger mixing bowl or pan than the one you think is the right size! 🤣

As a cooker of rice, I have learned the hard way 😄

You can't reason somebody out of a viewpoint they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

This one is very poignant today 😬

Don’t explain away the red flags.

They’re always right.

Worry is like a rocking horse. It wobbles you around but never gets you anywhere.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results

You don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone.

I’m in my 30a and battling chemo, all my hairs fallen out and I’m really ill. 6 months ago I looked lovely, hair done past my bum, a picture of health. Every day is a struggle.

I’m so sorry and it’s very true - x

Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die

Pitstopperils · 12/05/2026 19:46

It's very nice to be important, it's more important to be nice.

Manners cost nothing.

Oh @Bangersndmash I am sorry 😞❤️

I hope with everything that the chemo works well and you will get yourself back

Its easy to say 'its just hair' but it really isnt in every case. But your soul wont be touched by this chemo, only made stronger ❤️

‘Work as little as possible, enough to be able to live and enjoy the sun. Live life in capital letters, do not live in lowercase.’ Abel Paz. Spanish fighter against fascism in the 1930s. (Paraphrasing, but it’s roughly that.)

Do not think you can change a man. You can’t. You’re not buying a fixer-upper - that’s the finished product.

Yes! This reminds me of "Women are not rehabilitation centres for badly behaved men".

It really makes you think. So often people would think marriage and children would 'change' a difficult man and lo and behold, they rarely do.

(I have seen variations of this phrase on social media but this is the wording I remember)

Go placidly amidst the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence

(and all the rest of Desiderata)

Desiderata..various parts of it have got me through a lot especially
"Avoid those vexatious to the spirit"

Letting other people have the last word if it means so much to them rather than getting drawn in to something you can't win.

Guidance many MNetters could usefully take heed of!

When you are resting because you need to, you are not lazy, you are doing exactly what your body needs.

And similarly:
Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.

Don’t wrestle with a pig because whilst the pig enjoys it, you both get covered in shit.
