Taylor Swift definitely used @godmum56's version.

In fairness I've taken a few life lessons from song lyrics over the years.

Oh, if Taylor Swift said it, then that's the Gold Standard, isn't it?
😂

Define success......it looks different for everyone.

No one owes you closure

Never ground your children as punishment (cos then you’re stuck with them)

We have to work with the child we’ve been given - this is probably the best advice - they’re all different and there’s no point wishing they were smarter/taller/quieter/easier/more sporty/more academic/less drama etc etc

What I tell my kids - the bigger the trouble you think you are in, the more you need to come to me for help. We will sort it and deal with the rest later.

My DC thanked me for this numerous times!

This I agree with 100%.

I think the Lyrics to "I'll Stand By You" by the Pretenders are basically a love letter from a parent to a child and contain exactly this message. I cry every time I hear it because it's exactly what I want my DCs to know about how much I love them.

They're not. Chrissy Hynde wrote it as support for a friend going through a difficult time

Pop my balloon.

Wish I hadn't posted now. I was sharing something meaningful to me.

It still is. Just because it wasn't written by a parent for their children doesn't mean it can't be about expressing that for you. It's art; the artist has their interpretation and you have yours. It's a child who meets other people. Where it came from doesn't have to be how it lands everywhere.

My Granny told me (when.my Grandpa died) that you can't do anything for the dead, and I think this is so true. She believed that the deceased wouldn't want us to be moping around and would want us to be getting on with life. Of course, we can grieve, but we shouldn't stop living.

When I left Sixth Form, our headmistress told us that life is too short to stuff a mushroom. I thought she was mad at the time, but now I totally get it!

I'm sorry, it was as if you were stating it as a definitive fact. I didn't realise it was just your interpretation.

I also really like the idea the people may not remember exactly what you said, but they'll remember how you made them feel..

I don't understand this one. Is there a bit missing about who the two wolves are or am I being a bit dense? That is quite possible.

This is the story-or parable-about the two wolves.

Me too.
My Nanna always said: “You can add, but you can’t take away” regarding cooking and ingredients.

And also never be a guarantor.

I remember my grandmother explaining all the flowers in the aftermath of Diana’s death to my small cousin who didn’t understand. She went on to say that you should give people flowers when they’re alive, not when they’re dead. That one stuck. I was only 13 myself.
