Pining for discontinued foods! (lighthearted) rant!

About 20 years ago when I was at Uni, I lived opposite a LIDL (back when you had to find a carboard box to carry your stuff around!). They used to do a Ristorante Frutti Di Mare frozen pizza (I think it was 2 in a box) and it still pisses me off that it was discontinued. It wasn't just prawns, it had mussels and other stuff (possibly olives) on it. I still think about the bastard things today and I just thought there must be others who have their long lost foods.

Others for me are Brannigans crisps and more recently, Fries To Go! Oh how I could demolish some Fries To Go right now!

OMG yesssssss it had a pull ting thing. I was explaining this yo my older brother who ended up buying me a naff m&s cake.

For me it's the chocolate fresh cream cakes from Asda. The new ones just don't stack up with the ones from my childhood!

And peanut snack bars from Aldi. I miss them so much and can still remember the taste. My sister actually found one in her gym bag nearly a year after they were discontinued and we both tried it for memories but it was a bit stale. 😥

Cola bars. My mouth waters thinking about them.

I could go on forever for things I miss, fiendish feet yoghurt pots!! The banana one was the best!

Tasters! That's them! I did also enjoy Strollers but was getting the two confused. Tasters were fabulous!

Burtons puffs ( a puffy crisp. We used to buy for 3d at infants school in the 60s..) and lately Topics.. my favourite chocolate bar.

Pick up a penguin's Flipper Dippers!!! They were EPIC!!!
Heinz Egg Custard and Rice before the changed the recipe - too much nutmeg now

Secrets chocolate bar. Quorn bacon.

Oh God yes. A treacle version as well.
I am trying to eat healthily at the moment.
I feel hungry. For things I can no longer have….

Fruit Allsorts!

M&S chocolate cornflake ‘cake’.
Slimfast milk chocolate & peanut butter cups. Bloody gorgeous!

I really miss Corner House cakes, they had a delicious banofee one in the 90s, it was amazing.

Cadbury’s Animal biscuits when they were a decent size and the chocolate was 70’s.
Findus French Bread pizza - the very thing we got when we got a fridge with one of those tiny freezer compartments.
M&S Angel cake
M&S salmon and cucumber sandwiches - a recent loss and I miss them.
Our local Wimpy used to do thick toast with butter.
Remember when you used to buy a loaf and it said thick slices and you got… thick slices!

Ooh yes! And the orange Rupert the bear one.

Kunzle cakes

Oooh yes - I was quite partial to a mint Aero. Haven’t seen any mint choccies for ages now you mention it.

Nestle used to make a dark chocolate called superfine, wonderful and Vesta meals especially the beef risotto

Muller banana yogurt.. I miss it so much!

Cadbury’s Border cream Easter eggs that had a creamy chocolate filling, think they stopped making them 1950/60’s. Cadbury’s also made chocolate cakes for a short while they were wonderful. Loved this lighthearted trip down memory lane.

Absolutely loved c-vit. Best hangover cure there ever was!!

What a fabulous tribe you lot are, fellow ranters! Not to me-rail but I've had such a rough week and it's been so lovely seeing everyone interacting and sharing their stories and memories. I realise now as a newer MNetter that this has been done before, so apologies to anyone who felt they had seen it before) lovely to see such a good-natured chat, so thanks all for cheering me up 😘

It's a vegetarian thing, but M&S used to sell, many years ago, a roasted Mediterranean vegetable sandwich on a kind of malty bread with sundried tomatoes in it. I realise it doesn't sound very nice, but it was beautiful.
