Pining for discontinued foods! (lighthearted) rant!

About 20 years ago when I was at Uni, I lived opposite a LIDL (back when you had to find a carboard box to carry your stuff around!). They used to do a Ristorante Frutti Di Mare frozen pizza (I think it was 2 in a box) and it still pisses me off that it was discontinued. It wasn't just prawns, it had mussels and other stuff (possibly olives) on it. I still think about the bastard things today and I just thought there must be others who have their long lost foods.

Others for me are Brannigans crisps and more recently, Fries To Go! Oh how I could demolish some Fries To Go right now!

What are yours? Join in my rant :)

Spangles - the Olde English flavour ❤️

Lilt.

Screwballs I think they were called - a plastic cone with a ball of chewing gum on the bottom and ice cream on top. Only from an ice-cream can. The last time I saw one of those was in the 1990s, when I spotted a poor squirrel with one of the cones stuck on its head.

Aldi's 'Lilt' is a great dupe

Grandmistress991 · 04/05/2026 21:13

As a child, sweet tobacco. It was absolutely delish. Came in a little tabacco like pouch and covered in a sweet powder. Sounds.awful but I loved it.

Also rileys toffees ( possibly o'rileys) ...teeth breakers but the best.

More recently. M+s mixed fruit jam, white chocolate mountain bars, pecan and Maple peanut butter. All M&s whose motto seems to be find a winner and then dump it. 😫

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 04/05/2026 21:19

Ben and Jerry's cherry Garcia.
I think you can get it at the parlours but not in a tub to buy at the supermarket.

Worldwide2 · 04/05/2026 21:20

Mars used to bring out a small egg the same size as the Creme egg around Easter. Oh they were so bloody good and they stopped doing them about 15 years ago.
Vice verses.
Cadburys marble bar, oh I could go on 😔

Angelil · 04/05/2026 21:22

Fizzy Jerkz. Vile UPF from the school tuck shop. Loved them. Fond memories of eating them with friends during SocEd.

Angelil · 04/05/2026 21:23

OH and lime jam tarts. My gran and I might have been the only ones who liked them.

MonkeypuzzleClimber · 04/05/2026 21:24

Chicken flavour Doll Noodles.

They had a little rabbit thing on the packet. Used to be able to get them in Sainsbury’s in the 90’s. The best ramen ever. Nothing else tastes or feels like them.

I had my wisdom teeth removed and had a bone infection. My boyfriend had gone out to get me some to make me feel better as it was the only thing I felt I could eat. He made them but poured the soup down the sink. I threw a proper, completely out of character and totally unreasonable tantrum. Shop was shut. I raged like a toddler. I still feel the hunger for them.

Angelil · 04/05/2026 21:25

CARTOONIES as well. Proper 90s school lunch box territory there.

I loved 3-D Doritos.

You can buy Bugles in mainland Europe that are very similar. IDK if you can get them in the U.K.?

Angelil · 04/05/2026 21:27

Trio bars were fab too.

Rosemary61 · 04/05/2026 21:33

Cadbury's Time Out. The original ones before they ruined them.

Rosemary61 · 04/05/2026 21:35

Oh and the Galaxy Truffle you used to get in a box of celebrations. Will never understand why they were discontinued! They were the best ones!

Dark chocolate bounty- the red one 😭

Yessss! Came to say exactly this.

Why? Whyyyyy?

Dontfencemein · 04/05/2026 21:37

Mignons Morceaux
United bars
Dark chocolate Toblerone.

horlickstablets · 04/05/2026 21:38

I don’t know if anyone else will remember it but M&S used to do a carton of fruit coulis, it was delicious on yoghurt

Rosemary61 · 04/05/2026 21:40

Time Out Chunky
Cadbury's Snow Flake
BBQ and Cheese and Chive Walkers crisps
Sara Lee Chocolate Gateau

LilytheThink · 04/05/2026 21:42

Schweppes Caribbean Lemon. I loved that!
And I’m gutted to find out Kellogg have stopped doing Frosted Wheats.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 04/05/2026 21:42

Can't remember the shop or brand, likely tesco or iceland as that was all that was close and we walked there, but an icecream from my childhood that was swirled milk choc and white choc.
Lidl do a version some christmasses but i want it year round!

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 04/05/2026 21:43

Does anyone remember Hot Apple Crunch from the 80s? It came in a packet and you just added boiled water.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 04/05/2026 21:43

Oh, and mingles!

Ben and Jerry's cherry Garcia.

I haven’t had that in donkeys years!

AlmostAJillSandwich · 04/05/2026 21:45

Crema di marscapone carte dor, and coconut carte dor icecreams. Ice cream is quite the theme for me it seems

comeondover · 04/05/2026 21:46

BleedinglyObvious · 04/05/2026 14:13

I remember those!

Dairy Milk before they changed the recipe.
Caramac
Flyte bars

M&S do a bar that tastes like a slightly posher Caramac. Swiss Golden Blond, it's called.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 04/05/2026 21:46

Kelloggs start cereal!
