Another poor child is killed by a dog.... We already know this is an XL Bully, don't even have to wait for confirmation.

A Google street view of Hardale Grove. It is a residential cul-de-sac with cars parked on the pavement.

Child dies in Redcar dog attack, police say

Police remain at the scene in Dormanstown, where one dog was destroyed earlier.

Yes I know what the law says.

However, the sister of the guy that was arrested has been very, very vocal about it being a dog fight. Dog fights require more than one dog being involved.

The dad has XL bullies. He will be shitting himself if more info comes out publicly because he will be prosecuted.

We will see.

Joyous have a link for this? Ive Googled and not seeing anything.

Two more arrests over the Redcar incident.

AcquadiP · 14/04/2026 23:51

From Skynews:

Two more arrests have been made in connection with the death of a three-month-old baby girl from a suspected dog bite.
A 31-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and being a person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control resulting in death following the incident in Redcar last Thursday.

Cleveland Police also said on Monday a 36-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of being a person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control resulting in death.
Both have since been released on conditional bail.
Neither of them are connected to the family of the baby, Cleveland Police said.

With the lurcher attack, perhaps the pups were scrapping and the victim went to try split them up and then the mother attacked.

With the lurcher attack, perhaps the pups were scrapping and the victim went to try split them up and then the mother attacked.

It was reported that the lurcher’s “pups” are 18 months old, not young puppies, and both were downstairs when the incident happened upstairs, in the father’s bedroom.

I'm not sure what the sister is implying.

If she's suggesting the two XL Bullies were fighting each other and the daughter tried to separate them and was fatally bitten, the bite injury would be so severe, the police would know immediately that it was highly unlikely she had been bitten by the Lurcher.

If she's suggesting that one of the XL Bullies got into a fight with the Lurcher, then the Lurcher would be either extremely badly injured or dead.

It's all very odd...

It is odd. Doubtless more will emerge in time.

Maybe the pups had been fighting in the bedroom, where the subsequent attack took place, but had wandered downstairs by the time the father arrived home?

Another possibility: I wonder if the lurcher, Shy, could have a brain tumor. That can lead to uncharacteristic aggression in dogs. It's such an odd story, a lurcher (who doesn't look particularly huge in the photos I've seen) managing to overpower and kill a fully-grown girl who's owned it since puppyhood.

Google shows plenty of headlines from media Facebook pages, there are plenty of comments. The father’s FB has photos of several bull breed dogs, an 8 week old male pup offered “free” in October 2024 is very clearly a bully cross (with merle marking), fair to guess it was from the same litter as the two he kept.

I hope it can be established exactly what happened. I wonder which dogs police found in the property. He was quick to court the media and blame the lurcher.

GlovedhandsCecilia · 15/04/2026 16:49

Any angry dog can seriously hurt people.

Curiosity has got the better of me and I share your suspicions regarding the breeding of the pups from what I’ve seen. I think the lurcher must have caused the fatal injury but the other dogs may have been the catalyst for the incident.

So the bullies made the.lurcher bite her throat out?

Could be inter pack aggression

GlovedhandsCecilia · 15/04/2026 17:26

Not sure why that is funny

from Google:

Inter-pack aggression, that is, dogs living in the same household suddenly become aggressive to one another for no apparent reason

Inter-pack aggression often focuses on issues of social status and control, which become apparent at social maturity (approximately 18 to 36 months of age in dogs). Inter-pack aggression can be initiated by a young dog that is becoming socially mature or by the older dog that perceives the changing status of the younger dog.

the lurcher turned on the girl and killed her.

likelysuspect · 15/04/2026 17:35

I dont know why people are banging on about lurchers, its so unsual and rare (if indeed the lurcher did do it), that its irrelevant to the issue at hand.

As someone posted way way back on the thread, DEATHS by dogs are virtually not done by any other dog apart from the usual suspects. The lurcher is such an outlier as to be insignificant in terms of risk and patterns.

Perhaps it will be conclusively proved whether the injuries were consistent with the dog alleged to have caused them. Perhaps not.

You're like a terrier with a bone, Oona.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 15/04/2026 21:00

You’d have to lie very still to let a chihuahua kill you. For quite a long time.

FishingInTheRiversOfLife · 15/04/2026 21:58

Doesn't really matter why the dog killed her - brain tumour, ill, breaking up a fight with the other dogs, the fact remains she wouldn't be dead if it weren't for dogs. I fail to see the benefit of having a dog over this risk. They all have sharp teeth, they all eat meat. We are meat.

A lot of women and kids would not be dead if we just banned men.

Death from a dog attack is still very rare. How many people die at home from tripping down the stairs? Being hit by a car? Choking? Domestic violence?
