Another poor child is killed by a dog.... We already know this is an XL Bully, don't even have to wait for confirmation.

A Google street view of Hardale Grove. It is a residential cul-de-sac with cars parked on the pavement.

Child dies in Redcar dog attack, police say

Police remain at the scene in Dormanstown, where one dog was destroyed earlier.

I saw the local XL today. No muzzle. Really visible nipples which makes me wonder if the idiot owner has bred from her recently.

Link to the news a PP had mentioned - today -Saturday 11th April, another person killed by a dog. It takes one hell of a dog to kill an adult human. Poor woman will have suffered immensely 😢BREAKING NEWS 19 year old woman killed by dog in Essex

Just ban ALL dogs. As pets. Then there will be no dog killings.
It's really quite simple.

Oh but it does work much better than them not being banned at all, the only way it would work better is if the dogs were culled and so far that isn’t going to happen in this country.
Not going to lie, your whole post sounds like the type of propaganda that these pit bull advocates push.

IIRC, the paper that made those claims included amongst its authors a number of people connected to a lobby group.

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 11/04/2026 13:52

EdithStourton · 10/04/2026 19:11

There are also large lobbying groups, who want to be able to rehome pits all over the US.

This is very very true.

There’s an implication that people who advocate for a breed do so from a point of ignorance. That they are somehow ignoring, or maybe making up, evidence to support their position. Many advocates are behaviourists, vets, trainers etc who understand different breeds and don’t feel the evidence is there to demonise some over others. They are often also opposed to stuff like the ‘nanny dog’ myth as much as the ‘their jaws lock, they don’t feel pain’ myths that comes from people who want to label particular dogs ‘devil dogs’.

Although it’s clear from this thread that some people just hate all dogs. At least that’s a consistent position.

Another fatal dog attack today

How do you.know it's a xl bully ?

I read that neighbours have said it's an xl bully type breed. Baby 3 months old and woman taken to hospital with dog bite on arm. But there isn't very much on the news about this.

That won't happen.

So the next best thing is to accept that innocent people will be killed by dogs - sometimes in horrific fashion - and stop wasting news space with it. It's part of life in the UK today.

UniquePinkSwan · 10/04/2026 08:53

Statistically, I think it’s labs and golden retrievers that cause the more damage…

When was the last time you heard of one of those breeds killing a child?

Why won't it happen? Why do we have to accept innocent people being killed by dogs?

They used to say that about smoking. It then got banned in indoor communal spaces, and now they are phasing it out with no one born 2009 or after being able to buy them. We absolutely can do away with dogs. I am not willing to accept people being killed by dogs. Why are you?

One of my many maxims in life is "if it was going to happen, it would have by now".

I can remember when Rottweilers were the danger dogs. regular reports of them ripping people - usually innocent - into bite size chunks.

That was over 30 years ago - the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991

So you tell me why I might suggest nothing will happen.

Dogs are the UKs version of guns in the US where a few dead schoolchildren is the acceptable trade for being allowed to pretend you are John Wayne.

Apart from anything else people are spending far too much time money and energy on bloody dogs that will never become taxpayers.
Less of them had a sausage dog they might get down to the business of having a baby

Well why stop at dogs, in that case? Let's ban cars, trains and train tracks, rugby, boxing and horse riding, parachuting, skiing, I mean definitely skiing, it's just death or brain injury waiting to happen. And certainly all bicycles and motorbikes.

Fill in lakes and reservoirs, make it illegal to have a domestic swimming pool or paddling pool due to lack of life guard. Ban all knives and pass a law that says only licenced people like butchers and food production factories can have knives, and all food needs to be sold cut into bite sized chunks to negate the need for knives in households.

Ban grapes (choking hazard and not everyone can be trusted to cut them in half.) Ban stairs. Only bungalows from now on. Ladders. Ladders should definitely be banned. Cigarettes. Alcohol. Obviously all illegal recreational drugs. Also bees and wasps. Up to 10 people per year die of bee stings in the UK alone, which is marginally more than die from death by dog.
