There are also some posters who can’t see the difference between reasonable noise of children playing in the garden and unreasonable noise like balls being kicked against a fence - whump.

We were dead chuffed when a couple with a young family moved in after the old lady next door shuffled off the mortal thingy. They have a goal in the garden and a trampoline and they're out there all the time, shrieking and laughing.

I think it's one of the most joyful sounds in the world, and I've missed it.

Round here the parks are full of adults drinking alcohol and swearing at kids and dog walkers. That's during the day so I dread to think what it's like in the evening. My kids are older teens now but if they where youngerI would prefer them to play in the garden or on the street which is a shame because my kids always went to the park. Times have changed for the worst unfortunately.

I don't know. But I hope that when we drop off the twig, a family moves in here and makes a hell of a racket.

In the meantime, as long as we keep throwing the ball back, I think they'll put up with us. The all-night al fresco bacchanals don't seem to bother them.

I simply do not believe the amount of posters who claim that a ball is continuously kicked at a fence. If it’s their fence, you’d justifiably ask for it to stop as it would damage it. So all these children are apparently kicking it at their own fences.

True story - when I was a kid my parents had the end terrace house. One summer they had the whump whump whump every day for hours from the neighbour's kids hitting a tennis ball against the end terrace house wall.
