Stag do plans and suspect abbreviations

WestlieJ · 24/03/2026 08:47

DP is joint best man for a close friends Wedding in early summer and the stag is abroad next month. DP sorted the logistics of booking, chasing everyone for payment etc (there is 16 people going). The other best man has put together a ‘plan’ for the long weekend and sent to DP for his approval.

I’ve seen this because it’s saved to iCloud and we can jointly access that through the iPad we share to watch Netflix etc.

It’s all fairly standard stuff, but the final section is titled ‘expected costs’ and lists things such as a beer, meal in restaurant, etc, to help people budget. Within this section there are abbreviations, which I’ve taken to be ‘dodgy’ given they are not written in full and one is fairly obviously a strip club, although no idea on ‘MP’.

Ive got it in front of me as took a photo so have written out exactly:

SC - Ent: €10-20 / PD: €50-70
MP - €50 / HR +€30 / OWO + €40 / PM,SO +€50 / FS €100

I have already asked DP who said he scanned over the main itinerary and didn’t even realise that last section was on there and has no idea what it means. He also said he never has and never will step foot in a strip club.

Am I being naive to think DP was unaware? And does anyone know what the last part means?

Libel doesn’t apply to anonymous posters on an internet chat forum. Also, you seem perfectly capable of making assumptions, and defending potential predators, so don’t post if you don’t want responses

libel can absolutely be committed in an internet forum. Libel is defined as a defamatory statement that is published in a permanent or semi-permanent form, such as written posts, comments, or images
.
Because forum posts are written, recorded, and accessible to others, they are considered published and fall under the definition of libel, rather than slander (which usually refers to spoken words).

hope this helps ☺️

Grow up.

Stop coming onto women’s forums wagging your finger.

'He doesn’t approve but said he’s made clear he won’t be partaking so whatever anyone else wants to get upto is their choice.'

Yeah sure, they'll all be 'partaking'. Obviously.

Not necessarily. I know a large group of men that go away every year. A small minority "partake", the rest take the piss out of them for paying for it. From what OP has said there's no reason to think her DH is onboard.

Asked husband for a male perspective.

He said that’s why never did or never would go on a stag do. Nor did he have one.

I personally would never be with a man who attended these vile places.

Thank goodness for men like your husband.

Men “laughing along” is being involved and complicit in the abuse and exploitation of vulnerable women.
They’re all scum bags. There’s no moral superiority in that group.

And do these men who take the ‘piss’ ensure that the significant others of the ‘men’ involved know and are informed that their health is at risk?

sittingonabeach · 24/03/2026 21:04

@MCF86 instead of taking the piss for them paying for it, why aren’t they disgusted by the way they treat and regard women, and how they are supporting trafficking. Why are they still friends with them, why do they regularly go on holiday with them?

Libel requires the person being defamed to be identifiable.

Hope this helps

The Groom is aware, DP has shown me the messages they’ve exchanged this afternoon. He doesn’t approve but said he’s made clear he won’t be partaking so whatever anyone else wants to get upto is their choice.

He also said that from an ‘ethics’ perspective, the other best man sourced the details from an ex-pat working over there who is strictly independent.

You’ll be accused of being a ‘cool’ wife etc but ignore it. You know your DH better than any of us. Some men can actually not partake. My DH just finds it all quite boring. 21 years in I know him well enough to believe him lol.

What are you talking about we are all anonymous on here we don’t know who you are so how have you been defamed - unless you’re talking about the harm caused to your anonymous user name

Definitely strip club, private dance and massage parlour. I wonder what the others are.

It's in these sorts of situations we find out that we are at a disadvantage being women and not knowing what specifically goes on.

Yes

Sasha07 · 24/03/2026 21:15

Just posed this situation to my DH. I didn't say what your partner had decided to do at the end but asked him what would he do, now that he's suddenly just happened to have found out what the plans were. As it seems your husband is claiming. My DH said not a chance would he still go, knowing that was the plans. He wouldn't want any part in it.

Sorry OP, I know everyone is different but alcohol, men likely egging eachother on and temptation being right there may lead to future issues. You know your husband and what you're comfort with, how much you trust him but I'm glad mine would be bowing out of it.

You've misunderstood my statement @dadtoateen , I wasn't committing libel, I was flagging up that you were defending men because you are a man, which is your prerogative. You say you don't do that kind of thing, but you also said you don't police other men or ask what they get up to at Stags.

In taking this passive response, it continues the cycle of women being seen as and used as pieces of meat by certain men. I followed this up with the statistic to demonstrate that this then feeds into why it's such a high percentage. This kind of thing absolutely needs to be called out; men like you need to shame the men like that who rape vulnerable women for money. Call them out, disassociate yourself from them, be less passive, change the cycle and the statistics will change.

I didn't quote the statistics about you personally, I was trying to say that if good men will just stand by, shrug and do nothing or say nothing when other men take part in raping trafficked women for money on a Stag weekend (or any time really), then it stands to reason that the cycle of women being abused will continue, which is backed up sadly by statistics which show that 98% of sexual assaults are committed by males.

Anyway, this thread has ultimately made me very sad for the op, angry (again) about these types of men and tired at how little women are seen as human beings in our own right.

Looking at male forums like Pistonheads or some subreddits can give some (seedy) indication, though obviously only some .
