To be appalled at CONVICTED violent criminal Cheryl Cole hosting X-Factor

I am appalled that Cheryl Cole (nee Tweedy) a woman who bashed a toilet attendant and was convicted of this is to host/judge on the popular TV show "X-Factor.". My two young girls watch this. What kind of example are we setting for our children? Should we give Garry Glitter a chance to come and host a pop show aimed at a family audience? I don't think so. So why is this allowed to happen? I'm shocked. When I was young, TV presenters where cheerful charismatic people with wholesome lifestyles. My girls are exposed to people like Paris Hilton who is a famous slut and famous for nothing more than sleeping with many different men. My girls have people like Paris Hilton and Cheryl Cole as TV role models. I don't think I'm being unreasonable by saying I think it's time we stopped glorifying these kinds of people.

Read about the new X-Factor judge here and decide whether this person is an appropriate role model for our daughters.

your Gary Glitter analogy is so way off the mark and unsavoury i don't think i can even answer your OP sensibly

CountessDracula · 17/06/2008 13:05

When you were young tv presenters were shagging prozzers and snorting coke
you just didn't know about it!

LMAO @ OP..

OsmosisBanana · 17/06/2008 13:07

I think I might have a bit of a crush on Chezza actually.

bethoo · 17/06/2008 13:08

everyone makes mistakes though how they can claim it was racist considering who she is married to is bizarre!

Twelvelegs · 17/06/2008 13:09

I'm more worried by her declining weight tbh, she's like Amy Wino without the pastey, tattooed, drug punctured skin and talent, of course!!

lou33 · 17/06/2008 13:09

sharon osbourne isnt as pure as the driven snow

not quite sure how cheryl cole and gary glitter can be compared

the op sounds like some kind of journalist looking for free input tbh

and lol @tv presenters having wholesome lifestyles

anyone remember frank bough?!!!

I can't stand the girl.

I wish there was a way to get her off the x factor becase I don't think I'll be able to watch it now.

Twelvelegs · 17/06/2008 13:11

If you read Ben Elton's Chart throb X factor is even more difficult to watch!!

Kewcumber · 17/06/2008 13:11

I'd also be more worried about her wieght wrt being a role model.

I too am appalled by Xfactor - nothing to do with Cheryl Cole though.

mumblechum · 17/06/2008 13:12

Erm, don't watch this crappy show??

If it bothers you that much.

Did read that actually 12 legs. Didn't finish it though, left it on the plane, thought it was crap. Much prefer his older ones.

lou33 · 17/06/2008 13:12

yes batters that is what i thought

wannaBe · 17/06/2008 13:13

"convicted violent criminal" makes her sound like a thug.

Afaik she has served her sentence (community service/fine/whatever it was) and is now free to live her life. It's not as if she will be judging from a jail cell is it?

The pop stars that were around when we were younger weren't exactly great role-models either, but we were too young to know that.

posieflump · 17/06/2008 13:13

I'm sure your 2 young girls love Girls Aloud or have you banned their music from the house?

Ryobi · 17/06/2008 13:13

i know she is such a bitch, she eats babies and everything

tortoiseSHELL · 17/06/2008 13:13

I am really hoping she gives Louis some stick though - he is such a waste of space, spouting cliches, not actually reviewing the acts, rather making the point he thinks he should make. If she is open and honest, could be quite interesting!

I never understand this role model crap TBH.

Shes a reality tv star turned popstrel

Shrugs

There is an off button you know?

tortoiseSHELL · 17/06/2008 13:14

I think it is all to the good that the 'Sharon-Louis' love nest is disturbed.

kiddiz · 17/06/2008 13:14

No I am neither shocked nor appalled. I have much more important things to worry about. If you have such strong feelings don't watch. If enough people feel the same way she will be dropped when viewing figures fall. Result! .Don't hold your breath though

beeny · 17/06/2008 13:15

I quite fancy her
