To be appalled at CONVICTED violent criminal Cheryl Cole hosting X-Factor

I am appalled that Cheryl Cole (nee Tweedy) a woman who bashed a toilet attendant and was convicted of this is to host/judge on the popular TV show "X-Factor.". My two young girls watch this. What kind of example are we setting for our children? Should we give Garry Glitter a chance to come and host a pop show aimed at a family audience? I don't think so. So why is this allowed to happen? I'm shocked. When I was young, TV presenters where cheerful charismatic people with wholesome lifestyles. My girls are exposed to people like Paris Hilton who is a famous slut and famous for nothing more than sleeping with many different men. My girls have people like Paris Hilton and Cheryl Cole as TV role models. I don't think I'm being unreasonable by saying I think it's time we stopped glorifying these kinds of people.

Read about the new X-Factor judge here and decide whether this person is an appropriate role model for our daughters.

Is she talented though? Seriously. In what way? I must admit, I can't stand her.

wolveschick · 17/06/2008 22:01

I agree the Gary Glitter comparison is way OTT but they did last year boot a contestant off the show who was caught on a mobile happy slapping and they also booted someone off the girl band as she had failed to complete her community service. However in both cases neither had been punished/finished off the punishment from the court. C Cole has completed her sentence. I do think she has moved on since then and children watching the prog probably would not associate her with the criminal matter.

wolveschick · 17/06/2008 22:03

PS original poster, she is not hosting the show, she will be a judge

What about her victim? Has she been able to move on?

mrsruffallo · 17/06/2008 22:12

If you are allowing TV celebs to be your daughters' role model, then you have problems.

notsurewheretolook · 17/06/2008 22:13

I sky+ x-factor and skip all the dull bits with the singing and stuff and just watch Dermot...

so not really arsed about Chezza.

mrsruffallo · 17/06/2008 22:14

giraffeski- that's what I thought, too.

And what has talent got to do with the X factor??

Twinklemegan · 17/06/2008 22:17

My biggest problem is the thought of a reality TV star trying to judge other reality TV stars. It's becoming farcical.

LyraSilvertongue · 17/06/2008 22:19

The OP does sound like a journalist fishing for quotes tbh (speaking as a journo myself).

WendyWeber · 17/06/2008 22:22

LOL at the nee Tweedy in the OP (so that we can all go off and google the incident in case we'd never heard of it?)

Other than that

4 don't care

WendyWeber · 17/06/2008 22:23

I thought Val Singleton "courted" Pete Murray?

Weere they each other's beards?

WhiteRiot · 17/06/2008 22:28

Oi Nick Ferrari, stop pretending to be a young mum you perv

donnie · 17/06/2008 22:30

Paris Hilton is indeed a famous slut however. I think she should be a judge on the X factor. She's got a bit of form too so she'd be perfect.

Well tbh I don't care that Cheryl Cole is joining the show. I do however wish that Louis Walsh would disappear. His "you made it your own" line irritates me intensely.

ScottishMummy · 18/06/2008 09:18

who is nick ferrari?another zzzzzzzzz list schleb

squiffy · 18/06/2008 09:44

Valerie Singleton??? Next you'll be telling me John Leslie is a sleazebag.

wittyusername · 18/06/2008 09:57

LMAO @ the idea of cheryl cole judging a talent competition. And a singing competition at that!

MummyPenguin · 18/06/2008 12:07

Do we care if the OP's a journo?

Incidentally, the toilet attendent may well have received a smack in the gob or whatever, but we don't know exactly what happened between her and Chezza, and she made herself a tidy few quid selling the story to the tabloids.

TinkerbellesMum · 18/06/2008 17:16

And why should we be wound up into giving free quotes for her paper?

paperdoll · 18/06/2008 17:31

It is so clear that she is a journo, cannot believe anyone doubts it. Not a very good one either, if she can't write well enough to fake a more convincing OP.

Samantha1971, we see through your half-arsed attempt to stir us up! [blows raspberry]

ScottishMummy · 18/06/2008 19:24

lol well if she wants cliched tired ole quotes stroll over to any SAHM Vs Working mum thread. thats got them all plenty to shame us all
