To be appalled at CONVICTED violent criminal Cheryl Cole hosting X-Factor

I am appalled that Cheryl Cole (nee Tweedy) a woman who bashed a toilet attendant and was convicted of this is to host/judge on the popular TV show "X-Factor.". My two young girls watch this. What kind of example are we setting for our children? Should we give Garry Glitter a chance to come and host a pop show aimed at a family audience? I don't think so. So why is this allowed to happen? I'm shocked. When I was young, TV presenters where cheerful charismatic people with wholesome lifestyles. My girls are exposed to people like Paris Hilton who is a famous slut and famous for nothing more than sleeping with many different men. My girls have people like Paris Hilton and Cheryl Cole as TV role models. I don't think I'm being unreasonable by saying I think it's time we stopped glorifying these kinds of people.

Read about the new X-Factor judge here and decide whether this person is an appropriate role model for our daughters.

ladytophamhatt · 17/06/2008 16:31

Unless you 2 young girls are old enough to remember and READ THE NEWS i REALLY DON'T THINK YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY.

Sorry...didn't mean to shout.

I don't think you have anything to worry about anyway....well except stumpingh up the fees due to MN for this thread because it ssooooo obviously a journo.

You can't fool us, you know

poppy34 · 17/06/2008 16:32

wasnt goldie a girl? and thought simon groom was the farmers son.. when they were stuck for a feature wanting to introduce a rural story, they used to send him and goldie back to the farm.

TsarChasm · 17/06/2008 16:35

Simon Groom said 'what a lovely pair of knockers' too on Blue Peter. I didn't know what that was all about either at the time.
Maybe he was talking about the fragrant Leslie Judd.

Love2bake · 17/06/2008 16:38

I was pleased for her......didn't even come into my mind about her past.

Plus she will be way better than that annoying Sharon Osborne, who has even lower morals than any jugde ever !!!!

poppy34 · 17/06/2008 16:38

I expect he was doing a feature on church doors or something tsarchasm .

Wasnt he also there when the whole janet ellis/single mum thing came up (which completely by passed me)

MrsSprat · 17/06/2008 16:41

If I was one of the acts, I'd feel rather short-changed getting her, rather than industry-veteran with loads of contacts.

The panel does seem a bit hopelessy dimwitted and lite now, is this some kind of Cowell ego-trip?

eenybeeny · 17/06/2008 16:50

will read thread when i have a minute just posting so its on threads I'm on

geordieminx · 17/06/2008 16:55

TsarChasm · 17/06/2008 19:19

OMG just googled...Val bats for the girls? Lol I (and possibly Peter Purves it seems) are probably the last to know.

That tinkling noise is the shattering of my childhood memory of 'St Val the Pure and unsullied'

MummyPenguin · 17/06/2008 19:22

Just read the OP

Firstly, she's not hosting it she's on the judging panel. You cannot possibly compare her to Gary Glitter. She made a mistake, probably drunken (who hasn't?) it was a long time ago and has served whatever for it. Belive me, there are people that your girls will see on telly that have done worse things.

Girls Aloud were performing in my home town recently (I went to see them, they were amazing) and the manager of the hotel where they stayed said how quiet, polite and well mannered they all were.

People make mistakes, learn from them and move on.

MsSparkle · 17/06/2008 19:40

I actually think Cheryl has grown up a hell of alot since that incident. It's unfair to keep that grudge against her, we all make mistakes and she has grown up and moved on since then.

I have done things in past that i am not particually proud of and i wouldn't like to have things that happened in the past thrown in my face years after they have happened.

Plus you can't compare Paris Hilton to Cheryl! Cheryl has built, along side the other girls, a successful music career and is talented. Paris is famous for being famous. There is a huge difference!

bundle · 17/06/2008 21:51

lol tsarchasm!

I thought everyone knew

sorry to shatter your dreams
