Carol Vorderman has culled her lovers from five down to three.

NovemberMorn · 07/03/2026 18:11

Carol Vorderman has had to slash the number of lovers she has down from five to three, admitting: “Times are hard.”
She now only has a trio of three long-term “special” male friends on the go after previously enjoying the attention of five.
The maths whiz has always been open about loving her friends with benefits.

So...
Is it reasonable for a woman of a certain age to have multiple lovers....not to mention the energy.

Is it unreasonable, immoral, and just plain tacky?

She’s an attention seeker so this gives her attention. I doubt anyone is actually interested and couldn’t care less about her love life. It’s rather like telling strangers in the post office queue, no one asked and no one cares.

Blocksfruity · 07/03/2026 18:21

It's all very "I have sex" isn't it.

Or to put it another way, we don't know her boyfriends because they go to another school.

😂

It's definitely reasonable for women Carol's age to have energy.

Fair play to her.

The phrase ‘woman of a certain age’ is sexist. You never hear ‘man of a certain age’ being used.

I think you need to consider why you’re uncomfortable reading about a sexually confident older woman OP.

It wouldn’t be my choice of relationship but consenting adults shouldn’t be barred from publicly talking about their love life unless they’re young and/or married.

The media sites you’re reading about her love life on are probably wording the articles with the intention of trying to get readers to judge and dislike her.

I'm not uncomfortable, she can have 50 lovers if she likes...and actually, I am older than Carol, so I am certainly not ageist....so unclench your buttocks.

I posted it because it is unusual for a woman (of a certain age) to talk publicly about having multiple lovers.

Personally I think it's tacky to announce it to the world, but as I said, in one way it may help other older single women to read that sex can be great, as long as one has the interest, the will power, and the energy .

And where does she find them because as a woman of a similar age, the pickings out there are very very slim

It’s not hard for women to find fwb at any age. It’s a womans market. A proper relationship with a decent man.. is hard at any age.

I’ve never been happier than having 3 men on the go at the moment. No commitment, lots of variety, no getting sick of each other. I’ve realised one man can’t give me everything. I love the different personalities, looks, way they touch etc. And one is being annoying or isn’t available then there’s other options.

Disturbia81 · 07/03/2026 19:47

Makemydaypunk · 07/03/2026 18:49

I don’t believe she had five men on the go in the first place, she is just desperate to be seen as desirable and sexy, she will say anything for attention.

It’s not hard to do if you see a couple a week.

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 07/03/2026 19:47

I wish I had the energy 😂

I’m too lazy to read the article in the link but what does that mean “times are hard”? Why does times being hard mean you have to give 2 of your lovers the elbow? Am I just very naive?

Perhaps she pays them

TwistedWonder · 07/03/2026 18:40

Also, most of them will probably be younger. Which widens the options.

I’m glad she’s said it, it should be normalised.

RobinInTheCrabApple · 07/03/2026 19:48

What women around Carol's age (65) need to be told that sex can be great?

Most women with an interest cottoned on to that fact some time back.

RobinInTheCrabApple · 07/03/2026 19:51

The 'times are hard' comment refers to the fact that she's suffering from debilitating rheumatoid arthritis.

Carol Vorderman makes 'burnout' admission as she's left 'lying on the floor crying'Former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman has opened up about her health battles, including a chronic condition that left her in tears and unable to moveCarol Vorderman, the beloved former Countdown presenter, has revealed she is facing another health struggle, just months after stepping back from work due to burnout.
The 64-year-old star explained that, alongside battling burnout, she was also coping with rheumatoid arthritis, which at times left her collapsing in tears.

Speaking to amanda holden and Jamie Theakston on Heart Radio, Carol shared the ordeal, which began shortly after taking a break from her professional commitments.

“I had burnout and then, it’s a really weird thing. I had sudden and chronic rheumatoid arthritis and I literally would lie on the floor crying for a day and I couldn’t move my shoulder,” she said. “I had to keep my elbow in at my waist. I’ve been on steroids on and off for many months because they have to try certain drugs, and it can take months for them to take effect. But now I’m on the right ones, and I’ve been off steroids for three months. It’s like, ‘Yeah, I like this.’”

This isn’t the first time this autumn that Carol has spoken about her experience with burnout. Earlier, the Countdown icon spoke candidly to OK! magazine ahead of the Pride of Britain Awards.

“Unclench your buttocks” says the judgemental and uptight prude who also suggested “Is it reasonable for a woman of a certain age to have multiple lovers....not to mention the energy. Is it unreasonable, immoral, and just plain tacky?” 😂🤣 Some people are so self unaware.

I agree. I think it's quite pathetic to have to tell strangers that you shag around. The only reason i can think of to tell people she doesnt know how many people she sleeps with, is because shes insecure and needs to big herself up.

Notmyreality · 07/03/2026 19:59

Good for her. I couldnt give a shit.

YerMotherWasAHamster · 07/03/2026 20:00

Describing 2025 as “hellish,” she said: “This year has been a bit hellish health-wise. I’ve been very poorly, not related to the burnout but something entirely different. I’m on the right medications now, but it’s only in the last month or so that I’ve felt I’ve got my mojo back. So watch out, world.”

Carol also reflected on the steps she has taken to recover and regain balance. “I’ve had lots of mini-breaks and holidays with friends – gay friends, female friends I’ve had for 50 years, or some I’ve known for 10. I’ve been back to horse racing, I’ve travelled to the States, France, and many other places. Reconnecting with old friends has been wonderful. And the right friends, too – I think I’ve managed to let go of the bad ones.”
She also praised her family’s support during this period. Speaking to LBC presenter James O’Brien on his Full Disclosure podcast, Carol said her children had been “fierce” in their support.

Apologising for leaving LBC, she added: “I am feeling fantastic at the moment. Thank you if you were a listener, for forgiving me for leaving LBC; it was because I hit burnout in September. I worked like a machine to get rid of the Tories. I just hit burnout, and on the day I was meant to be doing a live show for my book on the South Bank, I got to the hotel where I was staying, and I thought I was having chest pains, so I had to check myself in.”

YerMotherWasAHamster · 07/03/2026 20:03

OP - what is your agenda here? The link you posted says nothing about men in her life.

Not that that has stopped posters queuing up to stick the boot in

I never said it was hard, I’m sure any woman on the planet could shag multiple men if they so wished, I said I don’t believe she does have five men on the go, it’s just attention seeking behaviour and generates her a headline, just like her apparently running on her treadmill in the nude, I don’t believe that either.

ha yes🤭

I find it all a bit embarrassing

ExBert80 · 07/03/2026 20:03

Whoever said upthread that she was like Jay from the Inbetweeners was spot on.

One thing I do believe is that she appeared on This Morning just after it came out and an ex politician contacted her to offer his services. Rumoured to be Gove I think.

Changednameagain999 · 07/03/2026 20:04

Carole is my age. I think she is possibly a wee bit annoying. But i totally sympathise with her on her rheumatoid arthritis that must be horrendous. I don’t envy her at all. Health is everything.

RobinInTheCrabApple · 07/03/2026 20:07

Gawd, she's well out of Gove's league in pretty much every respect.

pointythings · 07/03/2026 20:07

This OP sounds like a fine blend of sour grapes and clutched pearls. Only on Mumsnet.

AnAppleAWeek · 07/03/2026 20:08

Carol is 65 and was on the radio the other month talking about being ‘middle aged’.

And I always thought maths was her strong point 🤣🤣

daisychain01 · 07/03/2026 20:08

B1anche · 07/03/2026 19:18

You are unreasonable for using the term "woman of a certain age"

Well if it's good enough for the French, where the phrase originates from (Une femme d'un certain age = a middle-aged woman). it's good enough for us!

I absolutely love Carol Vordeman, she's intelligent, good company and full of confidence.

I bet they're queueing up at her door, and we have no way of knowing what she gets up to, they could be sitting there holding hands watching Netflix with a cup of cocoa. It doesn't matter!
