Carol Vorderman makes 'burnout' admission as she's left 'lying on the floor crying'Former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman has opened up about her health battles, including a chronic condition that left her in tears and unable to moveCarol Vorderman, the beloved former Countdown presenter, has revealed she is facing another health struggle, just months after stepping back from work due to burnout.
The 64-year-old star explained that, alongside battling burnout, she was also coping with rheumatoid arthritis, which at times left her collapsing in tears.
Speaking to amanda holden and Jamie Theakston on Heart Radio, Carol shared the ordeal, which began shortly after taking a break from her professional commitments.
“I had burnout and then, it’s a really weird thing. I had sudden and chronic rheumatoid arthritis and I literally would lie on the floor crying for a day and I couldn’t move my shoulder,” she said. “I had to keep my elbow in at my waist. I’ve been on steroids on and off for many months because they have to try certain drugs, and it can take months for them to take effect. But now I’m on the right ones, and I’ve been off steroids for three months. It’s like, ‘Yeah, I like this.’”
This isn’t the first time this autumn that Carol has spoken about her experience with burnout. Earlier, the Countdown icon spoke candidly to OK! magazine ahead of the Pride of Britain Awards.
