..of asylum seekers..
On the news. Are we supposed to be impressed? They are just being shuffled elsewhere, aren't they?

They are being put in HMOs in the community. Nobody knows who the hell.they are and if they are dangerous. There has already been incidents in my town, with HMOs in the vicinity of primary schools.
They should be put in detention centres and not permitted to roam.around freely

100% agree @Dollymylove

My home town is no longer safe. It is full of asylum seekers / illegal immigrants - whatever you want to call them. I, along with many others, do not feel safe walking alone in the town - even in broad daylight. Local crime rates are up. Not long ago, a young mother was murdered - stabbed multiple times by one of these males as she left work to go home to her young child one evening.

Those people living in the thick of this absolute s**t show have had enough. 😡

And yet your views seem to align most perfectly, Nigel and Co would welcome you with open arms. Ironically.

My views align with views of some Labour and Conservatives views too. It is wrong to label people with genuine concerns

Not by first entering the country illegally they don't.

There is no way to claim asylum here without entering the country.
That's something else I would support, allowing people to seek asylum without taking the dangerous crossing first.

Dentention Centres? All asylum seekers? What have they done to be detained? Talk about not learning from past history how wrong that even sounds.

This thread is disgusting.

Not by first entering the country illegally they don't.

And how do they enter legally when the legal routes have been removed or are unaffordable.

Tableforjoan · 26/02/2026 18:51

I don’t understand why we don’t have some kind of I don’t know detention centres for people while awaiting claims or just over stayers.

Allowed to just get lost into the black market somewhere bonkers. No wonder they come or over stay.

Maybe the government could buy the old pontins places big fences. Detention centre holiday style, so parks and open spaces and food halls, so no human rights breaches? Joking maybe, maybe not.

Yes.

Although homeless figures are up.

Just looked, you’re right on homeless figures going up.

Young men, unknown, undocumented-do you think they should be free to come and go as they please?

HMO should be cheaper than a hotel.

If you have the answer to how to sort out this whole issue, perhaps get in touch with the gov and let them know what it is.

That money is a drop in the ocean, it sounds significant because the media and NF and Reform tell you it is. You are supposed to be against them and think they are to blame, and you clearly are and do.

Personally I'm proud to live in a country with people from all over the world and one that will provide shelter and a home to those most in need. I see it as a privilege that we are able to do that. I would want someone to do that for me and my family if the tables were turned.

Don’t believe everything you read, or an unsubstantial amount of money? What is it, your two points contradict each other.

we are being told there is no money, yet housing people entering the country illegally i.e without documents.

You can be a reasonable person and be against uncontrolled immigration of people without knowing their backgrounds. You’re tying yourself in knots trying to be reasonable.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize that being low skilled meant a person could never work or be useful. Silly me.

I feel this thread comes across as an NF support thread from some Russian in Cyprus or something. Dreadful.

Again, these are people we are talking about and if you want to know who's taking all the money out of society then look up not down.

What luxury rock are you living under to be so unaware of the real discontent that is brewing. It has nothing to do with Russia

Not all asylum seekers are men. And they aren't all criminals. Christ....

A human being cannot be 'illegal'.

A human can’t themselves be illegal, but they can enter and be in a country illegally.

What I would like to see is a scheme where we accept a set number of the most vulnerable who can come in via a legal route. Those who come illegally can then be deported home or to a safe third country.

I’m not convinced we should be spending billions to accommodate people who can travel across continents through numerous sage countries, having paid smugglers thousands. They are by definition not the most vulnerable.

Most are! They’re not all criminals of course, but they are hanging around in large numbers, nothing much to do, and that’s not good!

Large numbers of bored men with nothing to do is never a good thing.

AshHeart · 26/02/2026 18:59

JonesTown · 26/02/2026 17:49

Yes, personally I am pleased that the government are reducing usage of hotels.

They cost taxpayers a fortune and create safety issues for local communities.

They're now living in HMOs in the community so the safety issue remains. There are at least three nearby living in traditional 1930s semis. The houses were sold quickly to government contracts as they required a total refurbishment. The type of property a young couple is being priced out of.

Or, they will work as carers, nurses etc and contribute positively to society.

They are people.

Or we can start training up our own young people )the 1m currently unemployed) to do these roles. We simply don’t have the capacity for these people.

Tbf the PM does, given his background he should know the terminology instead of getting it wrong.
