Protect our children from what? Some bare bums? If it matters so much to you, you can simply avoid the locations that the bike ride will be passing.

I propose that we blindfold mothers everytime they give birth because surely if everyone who rides a bike naked is a big filthy pervert then every person that gives birth to a naked child must be a disgusting pedo too.

I have participated in World Naked Bike Ride many times over the years.

(I'm a woman, and I'm one of many people who chose to ride completely naked - no merkin/ mankini/ modesty covering - just some body paint that said "Love your bike. Love your body").

That's what the message is - that we should try to love ourselves, and shouldn't be ashamed of our bodies, whatever shape or size they are. Personally I've found it inspiring/ empowering to take part, and believe it's a really positive thing for young people (esp teenage girls) to see.

In all of the years that I have been at WNBR, and amongst all of the THOUSANDS of male bodies I have witnessed taking part in it, I have never seen anyone with an erection! I really don't think it happens

I've seen a lot of pictures of it and it looks like great fun. Lots of women with their boobs out too. Time we stopped being ashamed of the human body.

I think these rides have to be suitable advertised and then we can avoid as necessary.

Our kids should only see the naked adult bodies that they choose to see, and this should only happen from 16+.

Fine to think that people doing a naked bike ride are idiots, or insane, or narcissistic, or free & independent fun lovers, but I honestly don’t think it’s a particularly sexual event.

To be honest I do think it’s good for kids to see the naked human body in a non sexual context. Otherwise they’ll end up just seeing porn & think that’s normal.

At about aged ten my son saw some hippies skinny dipping in a river. He was pretty shocked & I overheard him saying to a friend that he’s had to draw pictures in school about the human body and he realised he’d got it wrong. 😂

I very much doubt there will be any erections on display, and naturists are so keen to normalise nudity as non sexual and non threatens, and distance themselves from flashers and sexualisation that any pervs would be given short shrift indeed.

Having said that, there’s no chance I fancy joining in!

Lots of children, young girls especially but increasingly young boys, are shown unhealthy, AI, Manipulated body images.

Another of the reasons for the ride is to highlight the vulnerability of cyclists.

It's interesting that the drivers of other vehicles tend to drive a lot more considerately/ carefully, and display far less aggression & violence towards the Naked Bike than other mass cycling events (such as Critical Mass) - there is something about it which has a huge impact on people's empathy for cyclists.

ETA: Anything which contributes to more considerate driving/ behaviour by less vulnerable road users actually helps safeguard children and young people. And makes it more likely that they'll be able to live in a world where riding their bikes/walking/ active travel is safer and more widespread.

It's a naked bike ride, whoever feels that it's only perverts that want to do it needs to get a grip; It's absurd that they believe that.

For those naively saying what is the risk have a quick google at what some of them men get up to in very close proximity to young children. It's a magnet for perverts!!!
