The one where the men get their jollies showing their cock and balls. There is a petition which is not getting much traction. You may want to sign if you don't want to encourage this.

The website says that Victoria park is off the list because, "based on information from Tower Hamlets Council that there was a possibility of violence in the park."

It's stated under their "news and views" section on the website.

Is this because it's slap in the middle of a Muslim community.

Very sad to see these outdated views been pandered to. It will be a great day when women in Tower Hamlets can feel empowered enough to throw off their burkas and jump on naked and joyfully onto a bike.

I think they should cycle through Victoria Park, not give in to this outdated prudish thinking.

Off with the Burka and On to a Bike. Empower Women Everywhere!

It's got nothing to do with burjas or Muslims. There's been stabbings and attacks in the park. Other events has seen it closed. Biggot.

I had to read this twice, I was thinking "yes it must be uncomfortable but surely no-one's nether regions are going to fall off?!" 😂

Me too!

In the real world, I don’t believe most people would give a toss if they saw people walking round naked.

I wouldn't enjoy it, but I wouldn't find it difficult to avert my eyes and go on about my day. My children might giggle, but I don't think they'd suffer any irreparable damage.

You must live in a different world to me. There’s no way people would be fine with naked men walking around children where I live (or anywhere else in the UK - mumsnetters would argue anything just to be obtuse).

Let’s hope you start to encounter naked strangers on your travels then so your kids can have a giggle.

I love how posters swing from insisting on single sex toilets and anti trans rhetorics, to suddenly being very free and easy 🤔

I think all the clenchers on here need to spend a sunny day on a nudie beach.

In the company of children and (way sexier than me) women, somehow, men manage to not walk round with a massive stonk on perving on everyone.

Ive never seen children on nudist beaches?

Fingers crossed.

I actually don't care about sharing a toilet with whomever. I recognize, however, that there are women who feel vulnerable in a toilet or changing room and they are entitled for those spaces to be reserved for biological women.

ObladiObladah · 27/01/2026 15:26

It’s not about whether it’s overtly sexual. It’s about normalising men swinging their penises in a public street.

That is a gateway to groomers being able to say nakedness is ok.

And then it’s harder for kids to say “this is not fine”.

So if some Uncle Bob sends your 13 yo dd a photo of himself and his mates all starkers, getting ready for their naked bike ride - is that now? He is just letting her know he’s protesting climate change at a protest and happens to be naked. She laughs, it’s amusing and uncle Bob is nice.

And next week some random bloke sends your dd a dick pick - is that now also fine? No. But it’s now a grey area because sometimes it’s fine and valid for an adult man to be naked

If we are allowing naked bike rides, anything could be done naked surely?

There are lots of confusing things that children will have to at some point learn about.

It's not ok to kill - but it is ok to stop feeding a palliative care patient so that they die - it is ok to be a soldier and kill people - but it is ok for a surgeon to do an operation with a higher than 80% risk of the patient dying?

It's not OK to break the speed limit - but actually there are drivers and vehicles who can, sometimes - and there is a small amount of leeway on speed cameras and police speed monitoring equipment - and Daddy speeds and hasn't been caght..

It's not OK to take drugs - except when it is OK to take drugs.

It's not ok to take recreational drugs that make you lose inhibitions and damage your health - oh except alcohol and cigarettes, those are ok, if you're over a certain age, but actually you can have some alcohol at home if Mummy and Daddy say you can..

This is why children have parents and are looked after and their access to various things is managed. If we have to simplify every single piece of legislation in the country down to the black and white a small child can understand... life would be very regimented and pretty bloody miserable!

I'm amazed at the number of posters who, despite being horrified at seeing naked people, took the trouble to focus on the very part of the naked males that they claimed they didn't want to see. And for long enough to be able to count the erections.

One would have thought that their horror would have made them look the other way, or at least not looked for the penii.

No-one on this thread has counted erections.

Some of us have said that we have seen riders on naked bike rides with erections.

Some other people on this thread think that this is impossible or exaggeration or pearl-clutching or man-hating or something. It's not.

As I have said, I am very used to naturist beaches and clubs. My parents were naturists, although it's not something I've done with my own, now adult, children. I've seen hundreds of naked bodies as a child and a teenager. Never saw anything inappropriate.

I have no hang ups about the human body. I have no objection to public nudity on beaches, in communal changing rooms etc. I don't equate being nude with being an exhibitionist or a pervert.

I didn't know the naked bike ride was happening when we came across it. We were in London with family, walking down the Mall, about to take a photo in front of Buckingham Palace and were ushered to one side by the first cyclists. All very good natured and celebratory.

So I was very surprised to see several men with erections. I didn't need good eyesight or to search them out. They were... very evident.

It’s got nothing to do with being obtuse - most people I know live in the real world and not the weird Mumsnet world where so many people are so incredibly uptight about everything.

brunettemic · 27/01/2026 21:52

cleaningthebog · 26/01/2026 13:38

Do you think it's healthy to normalise children seeing men with erections in public? I think this is a major safeguarding risk.

It's telling children not to be afraid of them.

Why are you so fixated on the men? Plenty of women attend these things and I also highly doubt there’s erections wherever you look. It’s perfectly possible for a man to be both naked and not erect.

I think most people would either not be bothered or would roll their eyes and laugh/call them a name

And it's more the MN type who would shriek about the children (I've been surprised how anti-petition this thread has been)

There's a big difference between being alone in an enclosed space with a man and being out in public with plenty of people around and seeing a naked person go past. One clearly has the potential for danger whereas the other is clearly not dangerous, even if it might be upsetting to see.

Rollerbarbie88 · 28/01/2026 09:33

Whilst I wouldn't be organising a school trip to view said bike ride, I don't think it is a danger to children and needs to be cancelled. Petitioning to stop it is silly. If you are concerned about your kids seeing it, then simply avoid it in the same way you would avoid a rowdy football pub on game day, or a rave, or asda at 5pm on Christmas Eve. Hardly rocket science.

tartyflette · 28/01/2026 10:14

Some posters who have seen the event in person say they have noticed riders with erections (plural but not , er, quantified).
So some men obviously do find it quite stimulating.

ChatGPT summarised this thread as being an example of people discussing "male erections" ....

Unlike some cyclists I didn't have the balls to ask if there were any standout posts.
