The one where the men get their jollies showing their cock and balls. There is a petition which is not getting much traction. You may want to sign if you don't want to encourage this.

One of the primary objections appears to be fat, old and ugly people naked. Exactly what will children be protected from?

PandaCwtch · 26/01/2026 16:20

How would you know? Did you follow them home to inspect their saddles? I'm less worried about seeing people cycling naked than people who want to inspect the saddles of those naked people. Deviant behaviour indeed.

Yes I’ve seen the state of the saddles. Grim. But you obviously like a bit of the old snail trail.

What will seeing a naked 50 year old man do for a teenage girls body confidence?

It might show her that other people are happy with how they look, no matter what other people think. And that it's possible to be happy while overweight, or wrinkly, or scarred, or birth marked or whatever other issue they may have that the girl is embarrassed by. Come on, it's not rocket science.

zingally · 26/01/2026 16:24

My sisters OH has "oh so accidentally" found himself in the same part of the city as the naked bike ride on multiple occasions.
He "just happened" to see it. Oh, and then posts this funny mishap to his social media! Ho ho ho!

Fuck off David. We already know you're a creep.

Growlybear83 · 26/01/2026 16:25

Just when you thought this forum couldn’t get any more uptight and bonkers. No wonder other forums take the piss out of Mumsnet - it really is the forum that keeps on giving. 🤣🤣🤣

Gremlings · 26/01/2026 16:27

TBH most of the people 'naked' are not naked.
Almost all the women wear knickers and the men wear pants.

ohtowinthelottery · 26/01/2026 16:27

It's lucky you don't live near me OP. There's a chap who regularly cycles around a neighbouring village in the nude. Causes much amusement on the local Facebook page.

Two of my lasting memories of a school trip to Denmark as a teenager were firstly, after participating in a sporting event, we retreated to the changing rooms where our team shyly stripped off hiding behind towels to go for a shower, whilst the Danish team just stripped naked and walked across the changing rooms to the showers showing their birthday suits without a care in the world. And secondly, on a beach near Copenhagen I remember seeing a naked woman smoking a pipe.

I'm afraid the Brits are pretty prudish when it comes to nakedness in public. Other European nations, less so.

Just avoid the area if it offends you.

PGmicstand · 26/01/2026 16:28

LVhandbagsatdawn · 26/01/2026 13:53

No it isn't. You need to look up what indecent exposure actually is.

Hint: it is not just being naked in public.

Well quite.
I understand that both men and women can participate.
There is nothing wrong with naked bodies.
Naked bodies are not 'indecent exposure'.
I can't see how riding a bike will give a man an erection.
Being on the route of the ride is not mandatory.

ClairDeLaLune · 26/01/2026 16:28

cleaningthebog · 26/01/2026 13:38

Do you think it's healthy to normalise children seeing men with erections in public? I think this is a major safeguarding risk.

It's telling children not to be afraid of them.

😂😂😂

Why would they have erections? And how could you even tell if they were sitting on a bike?

YABU

Wishmyhousewasbigger · 26/01/2026 16:28

Wouldn’t have bothered me if my children had seen the bike ride. I suspect that they would have found it amusing, they were used to nudity, having seen both their parents naked.

Isn’t that what the drag queens say at storytime? ‘Oh YOURE the weird one for raising that concern and thinking about it…’ etc

Boring

Drag Queen story time also isn't a problem....

Ok so let’s just make it legal for anyone to be naked at any time so long as they’re not aroused?

We don't need to make it legal- it already is legal as long as it's not done with the intent that it causes someone alarm or distress.

MyDeftDuck · 26/01/2026 16:29

I saw one quite by accident - a naked bike ride that is - when on holiday in Toronto. I was exploring the city one day, rounded a corner and there they were, males and females pedalling past totally naked as the day they were born! I did wonder about saddle sores though 🤔🚲😂

FrootyCider · 26/01/2026 16:29

Are you telling me you've been up close and inspected the saddles after the naked bike ride? Did you hang around awkwardly until they'd left or just ask to see some random woman's bike? Did you hear anyone say 'Oi, what's that woman doing?'
Fascinated by the logistics of this seat inspection. Hilarious.

How have you seen the state of the saddles? I mean presumably, you've never been part of the ride? Inspecting other people's saddles for secretions seems way weirder than cycling naked.

So teen boys don't matter?

I've seen it once or twice.

No men with erections - or really much to see because they are on a bike and their thighs are in the way.

I have no issue at all with children seeing naked bodies in a non-sexualised setting.

We all have bodies. Nude sunbathing is common in German parks, Germans and Danes are always naked on beaches in their own country and in Greece and islands I have been in in the Canaries. In Finland everyone gets naked in the sauna.

Is paedophilia / CSA any more common in such countries?

Our family often went to the naturist stretch of a fabulous wild beach in Norfolk, none of us were traumatised or molested etc.

Bodies. So what?

I can't get behind hysteria about children seeing naked humans.

Seeing sexual activity: that's a problem, and is separate from naked bodies. Rather a normal person naked than a male pervert wearing a frock to hide his erection, for example.
I imagine most abusers approach children when fully clothed . It's the approach , the touch, the behaviour that children need to know about. And the confidence to maintain boundaries over their own bodies and ask for help. None of this has to do with nakedness.

Fopar · 26/01/2026 16:35

I've only skimmed the replies so apologies if it's already been said, but this is MN so...

...why on earth would you/your children be looking at the riders genitals?

Said on any and all threads where someone comments on anyone's physical appearance.

BookAndPiano · 26/01/2026 16:37

ApplebyArrows · 26/01/2026 13:50

What happens to children when they see a naked person, do their heads explode or something?

Of course not.

I think everyone should be naked whenever and wherever.
It really is old prudes who think children could be harmed by a perfectly normal male or female body.

Every journey starts with a single step and these riders are normalising one of the last old taboos and good on them and good luck to them. If anything, they are making it very difficult for people to be prosecuted under indecency exposure laws. I mean, for goodness sake, what is indecent about a naked body?

Nothing is the answer

Once this dreadful suburban, 1950s attitude has been eventually ditched and this is one of the first steps, then teachers will be able to teach naked, surrounded by naked pupils-only, very importantly, if they choose to of course-no-one will be forced just as no-one will be forced to be clothed.

Doctors will hold consultations naked, allowing patients to see that normal bodies are just that...normal. It will also take the embarrassment out of patients having to show their naked body if the doctor is naked too,

And maybe, and this one is a bit flippant, a bit tongue in cheek, we will be able to see what our dates look like in the nude immediately.

So, Yes, Yes to naked bike riding as the first step, the first pedal, to doing away with outdated laws and outdated attitudes! And Yes, Yes, to the majority of Mumsnetters who are cool enough to agree!

Capitalcity · 26/01/2026 16:38

Oh for gods sake. Laugh with your kids about it if they pass. They’ll probably forget they’ve seen it in 5 minutes. A total non event- something to lighten 5 minutes of the day.

I’ve seen it when I worked in Manchester well publicised and VERY easy to avoid
the only thing that I remember was a group of old ladies having an absolute blast waving and cheering they were laughing that hard they could hardly breathe

I don't want to live in a country that needs you - or any other busybody - gets to make laws "allowing" anything.

Unless something is prohibited it is legal. It's how liberal democracies work.
