she’s being made to sell their home and work, taking jobs she wouldn’t normally, and being away from her kids?

I know some of you are gonna be like ‘poor little rich girl’ 😂😂😂 but honestly, what kind of man is this?? Feel for her a little (from my own, much lower, tax bracket)

Why is being a SAHM a 'job' for partners of ex premier league footballers but not for bricklayers partners?

JudgeJ · 23/01/2026 20:42

YourKhakiViper · 23/01/2026 20:24

She was a SAHM while they were together but things have changed. They’ve separated and he is no longer willing to support her so she will have to return to work. At least she already has an established career so it won’t be too difficult.

Not much of a career, has she done anything since she left Coronation Street?

EvangelineTheNightStar · 23/01/2026 20:45

cadburyegg · 23/01/2026 20:21

Depends tbh.

I’m divorced and I can’t stand the victim mentality some women have. Unless there are very specific circumstances t’s just not realistic to expect to not work as a single parent. She needs to be working. She can’t expect to live in the same house permanently unless she has the financial means to buy him out.

But the ex should be financially supporting the children and enabling them to have a reasonable quality of life.

This, it’s so bloody depressing that some woman still have the view that if they don’t want to work… they never ever have to, no matter what changes in their lives!

Why would anyone think they could continue to live in a house owned by their ex fiancé, and be financially supported by them to the extent they didn’t have to work?

This is why I’d never be a SAHM if I wasn’t married before having children.

Nailed it. Never EVER have babies with a man who CBA to marry you. Helen is screwed now. I don't envy her. She is a B-lister who hasn't done anything except for Corrie, (not been in it for a decade,) and the odd reality TV show. So she hasn't exactly got loads of security, or a huge financial buffer herself.

I feel a bit sorry for her though to be honest, as she is fairly used to a privileged 'celeb' type lifestyle, and thought having kids with a footballer would be her golden ticket. Wrong. He doesn't give a shit about her, and wouldn't even put a ring on it.

She's very pretty, but a bit one dimensional as an actress. I wish her well, but shit happens and then you die. She's going to have to roll with the punches. Gonna have to get a job. As has been said, millions of single mums do the same in every day life. Life as an actor or actress is a lottery, and many of them spend a LOT of time not in acting work - and working other jobs! It's the life of an actress. Surely Helen knows this.........

I feel a bit sorry for her as she wouldn’t be in this situation if she’d have been married to him. He sounds awful. I think he should treat her as if they’d been married.

TheKeatingFive · 23/01/2026 20:48

Am I missing something? He seems to be financially providing for the family, he just needs them to downsize. Which, given that he appears to be paying for it all is fair enough, no?

TheCurious0range · 23/01/2026 20:49

mumofoneAloneandwell · 23/01/2026 20:06

I agree, they aren’t that rich and understand that that house would’ve been expensive

but she wasn’t working when she had the kids, iirc, she was a housewife? I think she should be able to continue that life, this man is shite

also, didn’t know he wasn’t a prem league player

But she wasn't a houseWIFE, it's her biggest mistake, no divorce settlement. Link this article OP every time someone says they're thinking of going part time to have DC and their DP earns well but they don't need to be married because it's just a piece of paper...

She was working when she had her children, definitely one of them and possibly the first two.

Yes!!!! Hard agree

if your man earns well, don’t have kids without that ‘piece of paper’ honestly

she left her good job though to be a mum, right? I wonder why she isn’t allowed back at corrie - they could use her tbh

She’s saying she has to work, so he can’t be providing properly - he put her in that house, he should be keeping her there imo

I am aware it’s not a popular opinion but I’d like to change that 🤭

This. I still shake my head in despair when I see ANYone saying 'marriage is just a piece of paper.' Errrrr, no luv it's not. It's a deep commitment, and a sign you love and care for that person, and want to spend the rest of your life with them. It's also a contract that protects you both.

Being with someone long-term, and refusing to ever get married, just suggests you're waiting for someone better to come along.

I have known many a case where someone is in a relationship with someone who refuses to get married, and after 7 to 10 years or so together they split. Within a year, the one who has refused to get married is married to someone else.

So it's often not that they don't want to get married. It's just they don't want to marry that one particular person.

People lose their jobs and have to find another one. Their employer doesn’t carry on paying them once they’ve had their P45.

Urg.. that actually gives me the mn “ick” reading that! So if your partner lost their job for any reason you’d refuse to contribute to the household?

Lampzade · 23/01/2026 21:01

Why should he?!
how odd - she’s young and capable of work
she may THINK shes entitled to a certain lifestyle but she’s isn’t owed it by her ex

he should be housing and taking care of his kids
it doesn’t need to be in a huge house which is a money pit

I can’t believe she didn’t marry him!

From the way he's behaving now, like a total dick playa, I suspect she probably wanted to but he wouldn't.

I do feel a bit bad for her actually. She was very vacuous and immature in her day but motherhood seems to have been the making of her and it must be very hard for her life to have suddenly imploded.

Being a stay a SAHM is not a job. Everything that A SAHM would do is done by a working mum except they also have the additional responsibility and challenge of holding down working hours as well. Being a SAHM is a privilege not an entitlement.
