Yes, we don’t know the full story, but so many things being said about the dance story being untrue-they had already had their dance, she’d also danced with her father, Vb was reportedly called onto the stage by her friend, Marc A and was shy to do so. She comes across as a very awkward, sad person, David seems to dislike her and speak down to her. I can imagine she must be devastated and so humiliated by this. No matter the issues, Brooklyn shouldn’t have issued the problems publicly.
I know a lot about issues with Mil’s but my instinct tells me that this could be her and perhaps she has been difficult from the start. She doesn’t have a reputation for being a nice person at all, even before all this and it’s been said there may have been similar situations in the past with an ex of hers.
In comparison, I’ve never seen anyone say a bad word about Vb, the opposite in fact, she seems to have a great relationship with all her other children and the partners, plus a good relationship with Db’s family
She just must feel so devastated and humiliated, your first born that you held in your arms as a baby.

All so sad

I don't.

I remember it too.
Then they went out the front where all the paps were and she jumped on his back and he carried her across the snow. Both looking like this 😁😁.

It was covered at time. It happened in private & was at odds with the public playful image on slopes.

I recall something about a slap too.

It must be dreadful to live your life as basically a lie. I would say the whole family are probably riddled with anxiety.

Perhaps it all kicks off at home, after the media image has been caught, most of the time? With VB berating family members for not presenting well enough?

The slap to me suggests VB has the power over DB, does he love her despite the cheating? Many men like him ultimately leave for an affair partner, e.g possibly Jamie Rednapp.

I do remember the 😬smiles piggyback.

I don't remember anything about a slap.

ETA truthfully I can only feel desperately sorry for her at that time. I know they court publicity but even they must have moments when they profoundly regret it.

simpsonthecat · 21/01/2026 10:22

I wonder how long before there will be a photo put out of them all togged up (all but Brooklyn of course) at some do or other, with VB draped over one of the kids. They can't give it up, publicity is their oxygen, I bet they have no regrets.

I think VB has tried to carefully curated an image of being classy and posh. She was portrayed and played the role of head WAG up to a certain point then suddenly she decided to change the narrative.

What's noticeable on social media since this broke is how she is being treated exactly how people see her, not classy in any way. The image curation hasn't worked at all. I think that will upset her greatly.

She’s really sensitive about not being genuinely ‘posh’ I think, tat removal & recent elocution, willowy figure. All very Eliza Doolitte. I had a boss like this once & inevitably she’d get it wrong at times. Possibly, if Bowers is right, this is down for DB having an eye for a aristo. The thing is VB is fine just as she is but being married to a cheater rather zaps confidence.

I think that time, back in 2004, VB had the power. DB even said as much in the media, she was the bigger star. I think he was obsessed with her initially but something changed.

None of that family are authentically themselves, it's all curated. I'd be riddled with anxiety if it was me and then if you had parents watching your every move to behave a certain way, it must be awful.

That marriage hasn't helped her confidence one iota.

Living with a man who doesn’t love you is a special type of hell I think. Why not move on, it’s a trap. Life is very short.

ShowmetheMapletree · 21/01/2026 10:37

It sounds like VB behaved poorly after too many wines (human, albeit inappropriate, but forgivable). I don't think it was out of malice, but more a drunk Mum having fun. There were clearly a lot more issues than just that, with what sounds like a fraught relationship from the start between NP, BB and the parents. This means any little thing is seen as "deliberate", and gives a feeling of cannot do right for doing wrong for VB and DB I'm sure.

However, that being said, estrangement does not come from one or two mistakes, or a one off incident. It can often come from a lifetime of tiny cuts over time, that chip away at the parents/child relationship (that is not broken easily) until there is very little left of it. With a already shaky foundation it is not that easy to come back from disagreements like this, as often it is the absolute last straw. I can imagine the effects of growing up in the public eye from a baby without consent, your every move scrutinised, and your identity being linked to your parents social media portrayal would be incredibly damaging.

Families like this that go out of their way to show a "happy family" squeaky clean image to the outside world are usually far far from it. I suspect they all don't know where the brand ends, and they begin. The only difference is the kids didn't opt in.
I feel sorry for BB, having lost his siblings too, especially his sister who he seemed allegedly close to. I hope he finds happiness and peace. I know he said in his post that the anxiety has stopped, but a lifetime of trauma isn't healed in a day. People go through years of therapy.

I think every woman felt sorry for her that time but why not own it, say that they are trying to fix their marriage, it's a tough time, he's a twat but I love him. Instead they try to gaslight people about what happened with a joke of a photoshoot.

Because she’s never felt good enough & is furiously ambitious.

I do know what it is like, I lived it too and it saps everything.

But for them the brand means more.

I do wonder would this be an out for DB if he wanted it, distance himself from VB but maintain his earning power..

I can't hate her for that though. No, it's not ideal but at least she's a fighter.

I just think another pp said it best when they said in this whole saga, people are hurting, to which I would add, it seems wrong to make it sport.

I just think at her time of life, if you are living so unhappily, in a sham marriage, get out, get therapy. They've enough money.

It's the money and ambition as you say. Then sadly she will reap what she sows and may lose her son forever. Not to mention her own unhappiness.

Yes I think, sadly, you’re likely right. Sometimes it’s a very small, inconsequential straw, that breaks the camel’s back. I know kids that have gone nuclear over something oh so small in the end.

Yup, I reckon it’s all come from her

All your doing is gaslighting his lived experience, Your acting like you know better and was there 😂😂 I cant stand people who do this. Your not brooklyn your not a close personal friend, Your a fan who only sees what they want you to see, its always easy blaming the DIL but i wasnt there so I cant say whats gone. Its incredible that a lot of people on this thread including you OP can say wholeheartedly what's gone on like your in the know. Kills me 😂

It’s losing face - she wants all those who bullied her in Hertfordshire as a kid to see she’s now upper middle class, Anna Wintour Mk2 & the best revenge is living well. They’re all losers in semis with ugly, fat plumbers. Her son is married to a beautiful, billionaire heiress whilst their kids are married to Gary from the council. It was all going so well…

She seems warm & witty & clearly has many qualities a good therapist might be able to make her see it’s really ok to drop any pretentious facade. Is Mel C a friend as she seems to have been on a journey & seems very down to earth. I’d be calling her.

She only said it reads like that to her, not saying she knows better or was there etc.

And to be honest, the emphasis was very much on things that would have bothered NPB. It may be that he was reacting to the fact she was upset by those things, but the specifics were very much focused on that rather than things between him and his family directly. It's not an unreasonable thing to notice that.

I get that, the losing face etc but you do (at least I did) get to a point in your life where you don't give two shiny s**ts what Mary up the road thinks. You are at peace with yourself.

I think they could have been authentic people, dialled down the brand and still made money.

Anyway, I guess at least she can cry on her yacht! 😉

I haven't seen the warm and witty side of her for a very long time. She was amusing, warm and playful in the Michael Parkinson golden balls interview about 25 years ago, but that's all I remember... since then she just looks brittle and miserable.

VanessaSanessa · 21/01/2026 11:03

We are talking a lot about VB but for what it's worth, I think DB is a prize p**ck.

Plumnora · 21/01/2026 11:06

@Kingscallops but that's not really the point.... plus KP comes across as a victim. She's spoken about the being raped, and her behaviour is very typical of a sexual violence survivor. As a teen she was being photographed topless and was in a murkier professional environment than VB. She's (KP) been objectified her whole life, beginning when she was too young f to choose that path. I'm not her biggest fan by any stretch, but VB has a very different background.
And on that occasion, it was reported that she'd done nothing- except show up- to elicit that....

There are so many piss take videos on Instagram, I wonder what life is like inside their house this morning :(
