Called an ugly cow by a child

Dd is 9, a boy in her class insulted me and told her I was an ugly cow. She cried as she was so upset at him saying hurtful things about me. She told me in the evening and I had a laugh because he is a very very ugly looking child! And I am a good looking fit woman who has modelled previously. I am asian though so I think he was singling me out as I am obviously different from others. His own mother is very fat and much much bigger than me. I have told Dd to tell him with a face like yours I wouldn’t go around insulting others! And if he continues, to tell her class teacher. Is there anything else I should be doing?

Bloody hell...
Don't worry, you obviously know you're good looking as a former model.
Kids say stupid stuff.
But you do know slagging off this boys mum doesn't make you any prettier, thinner, and definitely not nicer!

No idea why you are supporting his mum?! She brought her child up to go around insulting other adults and you think she is someone to get praise?! What a world we live in!

You're insulting a nine year old and his mother, prolifically. You think you're better than her, or him? You're really not. What kind of person comments on a 9 year old physical appearance? Who brought you up, to think that is in any way ok?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/01/2026 04:06

You sound like a piece of work, actually.
What a thing to teach your child. 🤦‍♀️

And you are teaching your daughter to use insults back? So that makes you just as bad.
If your DD is upset you or she can mention it to the teacher, don't encourage her to use insults.

Marchitectmummy · 13/01/2026 04:20

Your own comments are disgusting, as an adult you are judging and communicating on a 9 year olds appearance. Teach your child resilience without needing to tit for that insults at others.

Sorry but with being called a cow I assumed he meant fat as cows are hardly shapely?! Also in this case it is true. She has turkey teeth, botoxed lips, fake orange tan and is obese. If she had stayed natural she probably would have looked ok.

Don't hold back, OP, tell us what you really think. Pot, meet kettle.

Paramaribo2025 · 13/01/2026 05:11

Tough crowd in here. And being wilfilly obtuse.

I would tell the teacher.
Email the teacher too, so that there is a paper trail. In case things get worse.

Blooperz · 13/01/2026 05:26

This is a very odd thread. He’s just a child and the comment won’t really be about you, maybe he’s sensitive about his own looks already? Either way, you’re the adult and so best not to take it seriously or personally. I would have said to your DD ‘oh that’s not a kind thing to say, just ignore his silly behaviour’

I find it a bit odd that you’re putting the mum down, beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all and beauty doesn't equate with someone’s value.

pilates · 13/01/2026 05:33

Op, have you heard two wrongs don’t make a right? Plus you are dealing with a child and you are an adult. Honestly, just ignore and if it persists tell your daughter to speak to teacher.

Can’t be that lovely if her son is learning to insult people like this.

KillTheTurkey · 13/01/2026 05:37

I’m a teacher (20 years). I have been called all sorts, none of it true. Why are you taking offence at something a small child said? Moreover, why are you retaliating? You’re the adult!

Teach your child a valuable lesson and laugh it off.

Hey, this isn't nice. Let's empower other women by being kind and not judgemental, especially on a person's appearance. Then we can be role models for our kids and the hopefully they won't be calling anyone ugly cows or anything else.

NumbersGuy · 13/01/2026 06:04

You can always fix ugly on the outside, but apparently a mother who is disparaging the likes of a child they've never met, including their mother, fails to realize that you can't always fix ugly on the inside. That lasts forever for some who grew up being part of the mean girls group because it's too late to teach an old dog new tricks.

EatYourDamnPie · 13/01/2026 06:10

Ignoring all the irrelevant information, your daughter was upset and cried. Why didn’t she tell a teacher? You should let the teacher know what happened. As it happened at school, they can deal with it.Telling her to say something back is not a good idea , because it will only escalate, and she’ll probably get upset again if he gets nasty or she’ll end up in trouble.

Um, because you’re presumably a lot older than 9 and have said some really nasty, judgemental things about his poor mum who hasn’t actually done you any harm?

The Ugly Sisters in the original Cinderella were not physically ugly; the adjective “ugly” was used to describe them as their characters were.

You could maybe reflect upon this.

AleaEim · 13/01/2026 06:31

Do you have a job OP? I’d love the time you have on your hands.

Tontostitis · 13/01/2026 06:42

fairfat40 · 12/01/2026 23:42

Yeah, my advice would be tread carefully with getting your own back. a boy told my DS how ugly I was. So DS retorted that his mother was so ugly his dad had left her. Which was true. The leaving bit, anyway. So even though DS was the first scorned, he ended up in a heap of trouble with his teacher.

Good your son was totally out of line

InterestedDad37 · 13/01/2026 06:47

"Your mother sucks cocks in hell", or would that be overstepping the mark?

Creepybookworm · 13/01/2026 06:47

An 11 year said told me in front of the whole class my outfit was horrible yesterday. I resisted calling him an ugly little twat who.looks like a spud. I laughed instead (and thought it).

I didn't even know turkeys had teeth - pretty sure they don't.

This is hilarious. Made my day 🤣

Not necessarily. You don’t know what his home life is like. She could have tried her best with the boy, only to find him coming increasingly under the influence of his misogynistic father who treats the boy’s mother like shit.

none of us know what goes on behind closed doors.

Bellabelloo · 13/01/2026 06:59

I don’t think teaching your child to be a little brat too is the answer!

You've seen dairy cows right? They're skeletal. I'd not call anything with that much protruding bone attractive.
